| 1 Fate buona accoglienza a chi è debole nella fede, senza discutere con lui di opinioni. | 1 Now him that is weak in faith, take unto you: not in disputes about thoughts. |
| 2 Uno crede di poter mangiare di tutto, mentre il debole si nutre solo di erbaggi: | 2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: but he that is weak, let him eat herbs. |
| 3 chi mangia non disprezzi colui che non mangia; e chi non mangia non condanni colui che mangia, se Dio stesso lo ha accolto. | 3 Let not him that eateth, despise him that eateth not: and he that eateth not, let him not judge him that eateth. For God hath taken him to him. |
| 4 Chi saresti tu da giudicare il servo altrui? È affare del suo padrone che egli stia in piedi ovvero cada; starà del resto in piedi, poiché il Signore è abbastanza potente da sostenerlo. | 4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? To his own lord he standeth or falleth. And he shall stand: for God is able to make him stand. |
| 5 C'è ancora chi distingue giorno da giorno, mentre altri giudica tutti i giorni uguali. Cerchi ciascuno di farsi, nella sua opinione, una piena convinzione. | 5 For one judgeth between day and day: and another judgeth every day: let every man abound in his own sense. |
| 6 Chi fa caso al giorno lo fa per il Signore; Ma e chi mangia di tutto lo fa per il Signore, rendendone egli grazie a Dio al pari di chi non mangia che si astiene per il Signore, anch'egli rendendo a Dio grazie. | 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord. And he that eateth, eateth to the Lord: for he giveth thanks to God. And he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth thanks to God. |
| 7 Nessuno di noi né vive né muore per se stesso; | 7 For none of us liveth to himself; and no man dieth to himself. |
| 8 se viviamo, viviamo per il Signore; come se moriamo, moriamo per il Signore. Sia che viviamo, sia che moriamo, noi siamo del Signore. | 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; or whether we die, we die unto the Lord. Therefore, whether we live, or whether we die, we are the Lord's. |
| 9 Per questo appunto il Cristo morì e risuscitò, per essere il Signore dei morti e dei vivi. | 9 For to this end Christ died and rose again; that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. |
| 10 Ma tu, perché giudichi il tuo fratello? tu, perché disprezzi il tuo fratello? Tutti noi doyremo comparire dinanzi al tribunale di Dio; | 10 But thou, why judgest thou thy brother? or thou, why dost thou despise thy brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. |
| 11 poiché sta scritto: Convè vero che vivo — dice il Signore—, ogni ginocchio si piegherà dinanzi a me e ogni lingua celebrerà Dio. | 11 For it is written: As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. |
| 12 Sicchè ciascuno di noi dovrà render conto di se stesso a Dio. | 12 Therefore every one of us shall render account to God for himself. |
| 13 Non giudichiamoci dunque più gli uni gli altri; proponete piuttosto di non creare inciampo o scandalo a danno del fratello. | 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more. But judge this rather, that you put not a stumblingblock or a scandal in your brother's way. |
| 14 Io so, e ne sono persuaso nel Signore Gesù, che nulla in sé è impuro; ma se uno ritiene che una cosa sia impura, per lui è cosa impura. | 14 I know, and am confident in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. |
| 15 Certo, se, per un alimento che prendi, il tuo fratello è rattristato, tu non ti comporti più secondo carità. Non voler causare per questo tuo cibo la perdita di qualcuno per cui Cristo è morto! | 15 For if, because of thy meat, thy brother be grieved, thou walkest not now according to charity. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died. |
| 16 Che il vostro bene, dunque, non sia esposto a giudizi sfavorevoli. | 16 Let not then our good be evil spoken of. |
| 17 Il regno di Dio non è né cibo né bevanda, ma giustizia, pace, gioia nello Spirito Santo. | 17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but justice, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. |
| 18 Solo chi serve Cristo con queste disposizioni è accetto a Dio e approvato dagli uomini. | 18 For he that in this serveth Christ, pleaseth God, and is approved of men. |
| 19 Miriamo dunque a ciò che promuove la pace e l’edificazione vicendevole. | 19 Therefore let us follow after the things that are of peace; and keep the things that are of edification one towards another. |
| 20 Non si distrugga per un po’ di cibo l’opera di Dio! È vero: tutto è puro, ma diventa cattivo per l'individuo che mangia e scandalizza. | 20 Destroy not the work of God for meat. All things indeed are clean: but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence. |
| 21 È meglio Non mangiar carne né bere vino ed evitare quanto pi essere d’inciampo, di scandalo, fonte di debolezza per il tuo Fratello. | 21 It is good not to eat flesh, and not to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother is offended, or scandalized, or made weak. |
| 22 Tu serba per te, di fronte a Dio, quella convinzione di fede che hai. Beato colui che non è condannato dalla sua coscienza in quello che decide di fare. | 22 Hast thou faith? Have it to thyself before God. Blessed is he that condemneth not himself in that which he alloweth. |
| 23 Ma se colui che è nel dubbio mangia, è condannato, non avendo agito per suggerimento della fede. Tutto ciò che non deriva dalla fede è peccato. | 23 But he that discerneth, if he eat, is condemned; because not of faith. For all that is not of faith is sin. |
