Isaia 55

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Heu! Omnes sitientes, venite ad aquas; et, qui non habetis argentum, properate, emite et comedite, venite, emite absque argento et absque ulla commutatione vinum et lac.	1 Oh, come to the water al you who are thirsty; though you have no money, come! Buy and eat; come,buy wine and milk without money, free!
2 Quare appenditis argentum non in panibus et laborem vestrum non in saturitate? Audite, audientes me, et comedite bonum, ut delectetur in crassitudine anima vestra.	2 Why spend money on what cannot nourish and your wages on what fails to satisfy? Listen carefully tome, and you wil have good things to eat and rich food to enjoy.
3 Inclinate aurem vestram et venite ad me; audite, ut vivat anima vestra, et feriam vobiscum pactum sempiternum, misericordias David fideles.	3 Pay attention, come to me; listen, and you wil live. I shall make an everlasting covenant with you infulfilment of the favours promised to David.
4 Ecce testem populis dedi eum, ducem ac praeceptorem gentibus.	4 Look, I have made him a witness to peoples, a leader and lawgiver to peoples.
5 Ecce gentem, quam nesciebas, vocabis, et gentes, quae te non cognoverunt, ad te current, propter Dominum Deum tuum et Sanctum Israel, quia glorificavit te.	5 Look, you wil summon a nation unknown to you, a nation unknown to you will hurry to you for the sakeof Yahweh your God, because the Holy One of Israel has glorified you.
6 Quaerite Dominum, dum inveniri potest; invocate eum, dum prope est.	6 Seek out Yahweh while he is stil to be found, cal to him while he is still near.
7 Derelinquat impius viam suam, et vir iniquus cogitationes suas; et revertatur ad Dominum, et miserebitur eius, et ad Deum nostrum, quoniam multus est ad ignoscendum.	7 Let the wicked abandon his way and the evil one his thoughts. Let him turn back to Yahweh who willtake pity on him, to our God, for he is rich in forgiveness;
8 Non enim cogitationes meae cogitationes vestrae, neque viae vestrae viae meae, dicit Dominus.	8 for my thoughts are not your thoughts and your ways are not my ways, declares Yahweh.
9 Quia sicut exaltantur caeli a terra, sic exaltatae sunt viae meae a viis vestris, et cogitationes meae a cogitationibus vestris.	9 For the heavens are as high above earth as my ways are above your ways, my thoughts above yourthoughts.
10 Et quomodo descendit imber et nix de caelo et illuc ultra non revertitur, sed inebriat terram et infundit eam et germinare eam facit et dat semen serenti et panem comedenti,	10 For, as the rain and the snow come down from the sky and do not return before having watered theearth, fertilising it and making it germinate to provide seed for the sower and food to eat,
11 sic erit verbum meum, quod egredietur de ore meo: non revertetur ad me vacuum, sed faciet, quaecumque volui, et prosperabitur in his, ad quae misi illud.	11 so it is with the word that goes from my mouth: it wil not return to me unfulfilled or before havingcarried out my good pleasure and having achieved what it was sent to do.
12 Quia in laetitia egrediemini et in pace deducemini; montes et colles cantabunt coram vobis laudem, et omnia ligna regionis plaudent manu.	12 Yes, you wil go out with joy and be led away in safety. Mountains and hil s wil break into joyful criesbefore you and all the trees of the countryside clap their hands.
13 Pro vepribus ascendet cupressus, et pro urtica crescet myrtus; et erit Domino in gloriam, in signum aeternum, quod non auferetur.	13 Cypress wil grow instead of thorns, myrtle instead of nettles. And this wil be fame for Yahweh, aneternal monument never to be effaced.
