NOVA VULGATANEW JERUSALEM
De hyacintho vero et purpura, cocco ac bysso fecerunt vestes textas pro ministerio sanctuarii. Et fecerunt vestes sacras Aaron, sicut praecepit Dominus Moysi.
From the violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials, they made the liturgical vestments forservice in the sanctuary. They made the sacred vestments for Aaron, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Fecerunt igitur ephod de auro, hyacintho et purpura coccoque et bysso retorta2 They made the ephod of gold, of violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials and finely wovenlinen.
opere polymitario tundentes bratteas aureas et extenuantes in fila, ut possent torqueri cum priorum colorum subtegmine.3 They beat gold into thin plates and cut these into threads to work into the violet-purple, red-purple andcrimson materials and the fine linen by needlework.
Fasciasque umerales fecerunt ei, cum quibus in utroque latere summitatum suarum copulabatur,4 For the ephod they made shoulder-straps which were joined to it at its two edges.
et balteum, quo constringebatur ephod, eiusdem operis et unum cum eo ex auro, et hyacintho et purpura coccoque et bysso retorta, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.5 The waistband on the ephod to hold it in position, was of a piece with it and of the same workmanship:of gold, violet-purple, red-purple and finely woven linen, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Paraverunt et duos lapides onychinos, inclusos texturis aureis et sculptos arte gemmaria nominibus filiorum Israel;6 They worked the cornelians, mounted in gold setting, and engraved, like an engraved seal, with thenames of the sons of Israel,
posueruntque eos in fasciis umeralibus ephod, lapides memorialis filiorum Israel, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
and put the stones on the shoulder-straps of the ephod, to commemorate the sons of Israel, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
Fecerunt et pectorale opere polymito iuxta opus ephod ex auro, hyacintho, purpura coccoque et bysso retorta,8 They made the breastplate of the same embroidered work as the ephod: of gold, violet-purple, red-purple and crimson materials and finely woven linen.
quadrangulum duplex mensurae palmi.9 It was square and doubled over, a span in length and a span in width.
Et posuerunt in eo gemmarum ordines quattuor: in primo versu erat sardius, topazius, smaragdus;10 In it they set four rows of stones: a sard, a topaz and an emerald, for the first row;
in secundo carbunculus, sapphirus et iaspis;11 for the second row, a garnet, a sapphire and a diamond;
in tertio hyacinthus, achates et amethystus;12 for the third row, a hyacinth, a ruby and an amethyst;
in quarto chrysolithus, onychinus et beryllus: inclusi textura aurea per ordines suos.13 and for the fourth row, a beryl, a cornelian and a jasper: mounted in gold settings,
Ipsique lapides duodecim sculpti erant nominibus duodecim tribuum Israel, singuli per nomina singulorum.14 the stones corresponding to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve like their names, engraved likeseals, each with the name of one of the twelve tribes.
Fecerunt in pectorali catenulas quasi funiculos opus tortile de auro purissimo15 For the breastplate they made chains of pure gold twisted like cords,
et duos margines aureos totidemque anulos aureos. Porro duos anulos posuerunt in utraque summitate pectoralis;16 and they made two gold rosettes and two gold rings, putting the two rings on the two outside edgesof the breastplate
duos funiculos aureos inseruerunt anulis, qui in pectoralis angulis eminebant.17 and fastening the two gold cords to the two rings on the outside edges of the breastplate.
Duas summitates amborum funiculorum colligaverunt duobus marginibus in fasciis umeralibus ephod in parte eius anteriore.18 The other two ends of the cords they fastened to the two rosettes, putting these on the shoulder-straps of the ephod, on the front.
Et fecerunt duos anulos aureos et posuerunt super duas summitates pectoralis in eius margine interiore contra ephod, sicut praecepit Dominus Moysi.
They also made two gold rings and put them on the two outside edges of the breastplate, on theinner side, against the ephod;
Feceruntque duos anulos aureos, quos posuerunt in duabus fasciis umeralibus ephod deorsum in latere eius anteriore secus iuncturam eius super balteum ephod.20 and they made two more gold rings and put them low down on the front of the two shoulder-straps ofthe ephod, close to the join, above the waistband of the ephod.
Et strinxerunt pectorale anulis eius ad anulos ephod vitta hyacinthina, ut esset super balteum ephod, ne amoveretur ab ephod, sicut praecepit Dominus Moysi.
They secured the pectoral by a violet-purple cord passed through its rings and those of the ephod, sothat the pectoral would sit above the waistband and not come apart from the ephod, as Yahweh had orderedMoses.
Fecerunt quoque pallium ephod opere textili totum hyacinthinum22 They made the robe of the ephod woven entirely of violet-purple.
et capitium in medio eius supra oramque per gyrum sicut in capitio loricae;23 The opening in the centre of the robe was like the neck of a coat of mail; round the opening was aborder, so that it would not get torn.
deorsum autem ad pedes mala punica ex hyacintho, purpura, cocco ac bysso retorta24 On the lower hem of the robe, they made pomegranates of violet-purple, red-purple and crimson andfinely woven linen,
et tintinnabula de auro purissimo, quae posuerunt inter malogranata in inferiore parte pallii per gyrum,25 and made bells of pure gold, putting the bel s between the pomegranates al round the lower hem ofthe robe:
ut sit tintinnabulum inter singula mala punica, quibus ornatus incedebat pontifex, quando ministerio fungebatur, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
alternately, a bel and then a pomegranate, al round the lower hem of the robe of office, as Yahwehhad ordered Moses.
Fecerunt et tunicas byssinas opere textili Aaron et filiis eius27 They made the tunics of finely woven linen for Aaron and his sons,
et tiaram et ornatum mitrarum ex bysso, feminalia quoque linea ex bysso retorta,28 the turban of fine linen, the head-dresses of fine linen, the breeches of finely woven linen,
cingulum vero de bysso retorta, hyacintho, purpura ac cocco, arte plumaria, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
the waistbands of finely woven linen embroidered with violet-purple, red-purple and crimson, asYahweh had ordered Moses.
Fecerunt et laminam diadema sanctitatis de auro purissimo; scripseruntque in ea opere caelatoris: “ Sanctum Domino ”;30 They also made the flower -- the symbol of holy consecration -- of pure gold and on it, like anengraved seal, they engraved, 'Consecrated to Yahweh'.
et strinxerunt eam desuper cum tiara vitta hyacinthina, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
They put it on a violet-purple cord, to fasten it high up on the turban, as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Perfectum est igitur omne opus habitaculi et tabernaculi conventus; feceruntque filii Israel cuncta, quae praeceperat Dominus Moysi: sic fecerunt.
So all the work for the Dwelling, for the Tent of Meeting, was completed. They had done everythingexactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Et obtulerunt habitaculum et tabernaculum et universam supellectilem, fibulas, tabulas, vectes, columnas ac bases,33 They then brought Moses the Dwel ing, the Tent and al its accessories: its clasps, frames, crossbars,poles and sockets;
opertorium de pellibus arietum rubricatis et operimentum de pellibus delphini, velum,34 the cover of rams' skins dyed red, the cover of fine leather and the screening curtain;
arcam testimonii, vectes, propitiatorium,35 the ark of the Testimony and its shafts, and the mercy-seat;
mensam cum vasis suis et propositionis panibus,36 the table, all its accessories and the loaves of permanent offering;
candelabrum ex auro puro, lucernas in ordine earum et utensilia earum cum oleo candelabri,37 the lamp-stand of pure gold, its lamps -- the array of lamps -- and all its accessories, and the oil forthe light;
altare aureum et unguentum et thymiama ex aromatibus et velum in introitu tabernaculi,38 the golden altar, the anointing oil, the fragrant incense and the screen for the entrance to the tent;
altare aeneum, craticulam aeneam, vectes et vasa eius omnia, labrum cum basi sua,39 the bronze altar and its bronze grating, its shafts and all its accessories; the basin and its stand;
tentoria atrii et columnas cum basibus suis, velum in introitu atrii funiculosque illius et paxillos. Nihil ex vasis defuit, quae in ministerium habitaculi in tabernaculo conventus iussa sunt fieri.40 the curtaining for the court, its poles, its sockets, and the screen for the gateway to the court, itscords, its pegs and al the accessories for the service of the Dwel ing, for the Tent of Meeting;
Vestes quoque textas, quibus sacerdotes utuntur in sanctuario, et vestes sacras Aaron sacerdotis et vestes filiorum eius41 the liturgical vestments for officiating in the sanctuary -- the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest,and the vestments for his sons -- for the priestly functions.
obtulerunt filii Israel, sicut praeceperat Dominus Moysi.
The Israelites had done al the work exactly as Yahweh had ordered Moses.
Quae postquam Moyses cuncta vidit completa, benedixit eis.
Moses inspected all the work: they had indeed done it as Yahweh had ordered; and Moses blessedthem.
