1 L'anno secondo di Gioas figliuolo di Joachaz re d'Israele, cominciò a regnare Amasia figliuolo di Gioas re di Giuda.	1 In the second year of Joash the son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, began to reign.
2 Egli avea venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare: e regnò ventinoveanni in Gerusalemme. La sua madre ebbe nome Joadan, ed era di Gerusalemme.	2 He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jeho-addin of Jerusalem.
3 Ed egli fece quello, che era giusto dinanzi al Signore; ma non come Davidde suo padre. Egli imitò in tutto Gioas suo padre.	3 And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like David his father; he did in all things as Joash his father had done.
4 Eccetto solamente, che egli non tolse via i luoghi eccelsi; perocché il popolo immolava tutt'ora, e bruciava incenso ne' luoghi eccelsi.	4 But the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.
5 Ed entrato ch'ei fu al possesso del regno, uccise que' servi suoi i quali avean data morte al re suo padre:	5 And as soon as the royal power was firmly in his hand he killed his servants who had slain the king his father.
6 Ma non fece morire i figliuoli degli uccisori conforme a quel, che sta scritto nel libro della legge di Mosè secondo l'ordine del Signore, che dice: Non morranno i padri pe' figliuoli, né i figliuoli morranno pei padri; ma ciascheduno morrà pel suo proprio peccato.	6 But he did not put to death the children of the murderers; according to what is written in the book of the law of Moses, where the LORD commanded, "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, or the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin."
7 Egli sconfisse dieci mila Idumei nella valle delle Saline, ed espugnò Petra, a cui diede il nome di Jectenel, come lo ha sino al dì d'oggi.	7 He killed ten thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt and took Sela by storm, and called it Jokthe-el, which is its name to this day.
8 Allora Amasia mando ambasciadori a Gioas figliuolo di Joachaz, figliuolo di Jehu, re d'Israele, e fece dirgli: Vieni, e vediamoci insieme.	8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, "Come, let us look one another in the face."
9 E Gioas re d'Israele mandò dal suo canto a dire ad Amasia re di Giuda: Il cardo del Libano mandò a dire al cedro, che sta sul Libano: Dà la tua figlia per moglie al mio figliuolo: ma le fiere selvagge, che fan dimora sul Libano, in passando conculcarono il cardo.	9 And Jehoash king of Israel sent word to Amaziah king of Judah, "A thistle on Lebanon sent to a cedar on Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son for a wife'; and a wild beast of Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle.
10 Tu hai messi in rotta, e fiaccati gl'Idumei, e il tuo cuore si è invanito: sii contento della tua gloria, e statti a sedere in tua casa: perchè vai tu cercando malanni, per andar in rovina tu, e Giuda con te?	10 You have indeed smitten Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Be content with your glory, and stay at home; for why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?"
11 Ma Amasia non gli diede retta: e Gioas re d'Israele si mosse, e si videro egli, e Amasia re di Giuda presso a Bethsames città di Giuda.	11 But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced one another in battle at Beth-shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
12 E Giuda rimase sconfitto da Israele, e si fuggirono ognuno a casa sua.	12 And Judah was defeated by Israel, and every man fled to his home.
13 E Gioas re d'Israele fece prigioniero in Bethsames Amasia re di Giuda figliuolo di Gioas, figliuolo di Ochozia, e lo condusse a Gerusalemme: e abbattè parte delle mura di Gerusalemme, dalla porta di Ephraim sino alla porta dell'angolo, la lunghezza di quattro cento cubiti.	13 And Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for four hundred cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.
14 E prese tutto l'oro, e l'argento, e tutti i vasi, che si trovarono nella casa del Signore, e ne' tesori del re, e gli ostaggi, e se tornò a Samaria.	14 And he seized all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the king's house, also hostages, and he returned to Samaria.
15 Ma il rimanente delle azioni di Gioas che fece, e le sue forti imprese nel combattere contro Amasia re di Giuda, non son elleno scritte nel diario de' fatti dei re d'Israele?	15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
16 E Gioas si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu sepolto in Samaria cogli altri re d'Israele: e gli succedette nel regno Geroboam suo figliuolo.	16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17 Or Amasia figliuolo di Gioas, re di Giuda, visse, dopo la morte di Gioas figliuolo di Joachaz, re d'Israele, anni quindici.	17 Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel.
18 Il resto poi delle azioni di Amasia non son elleno scritte nel diario de' fatti dei re di Giuda?	18 Now the rest of the deeds of Amaziah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
19 E fu ordita contro di lui una congiura in Gerusalemme: ma egli si fuggì a Lachis. E gli mandaron dietro a Lucius, e ivi lo uccisero.	19 And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20 E lo trasportarono sopra un cocchio, e fu sepolto in Gerusalemme co' padri suoi nella città di David.	20 And they brought him upon horses; and he was buried in Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21 E tutto il popolo di Giuda prese Azaria, che era in età di sedici anni, e lo dichiararono re in luogo di Amasia suo padre.	21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
22 Egli riedificò Elath, avendola restituita a Giuda, dopoché il re fu andato a riposar co' suoi padri.	22 He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.
23 L'anno decimo quinto di Amasia figliuolo di Gioas re di Giuda, prese a regnare in Samaria Geroboam figliuolo di Gioas re d'Israele per quarantun anno.	23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, began to reign in Samaria, and he reigned forty-one years.
24 Egli fece il male nel cospetto del Signore. Non lasciò indietro verun de' peccati di Geroboam figliuolo di Nabath, il quale indusse Israele a peccare.	24 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which he made Israel to sin.
25 Egli ritornò nel pristino stato i confini d'Israele dall'ingresso di Emath fino al mare del deserto, secondo la parola del Signore Dio d'Israele pronunziata per bocca del suo servo Giona profeta figliuolo di Amathi, il quale era di Geth, che è in Opher.	25 He restored the border of Israel from the entrance of Hamath as far as the Sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, which he spoke by his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was from Gath-hepher.
26 Imperocché il Signore vide l'afflizione d'Israele acerba al sommo, e come eran consunti fin quei, che eran custoditi nella prigione, e i più abbietti, e come non era chi sovvenisse Israele.	26 For the LORD saw that the affliction of Israel was very bitter, for there was none left, bond or free, and there was none to help Israel.
27 E il Signore non avea decretato, che perisse il nome d'Israele sotto del cielo; ma li salvò per mano di Geroboam figliuolo di Gioas.	27 But the LORD had not said that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, so he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28 Il resto poi delle azioni di Geroboam, e tutto quello, che ei fece, e il suo valore nelle battaglie, e com' egli restituì ad Israele Damasco, ed Emath di Giuda, non è egli scritto nel diario de' fatti dei re d'Israele?	28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he fought, and how he recovered for Israel Damascus and Hamath, which had belonged to Judah, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
29 E Geroboam si addormentò co' padri suoi regi d'Israele, e gli succedette nel regno Zacharia suo figliuolo.	29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, the kings of Israel, and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
