1 Eliseo, rivoltosi alla donna di cui aveva risuscitato il figlio, le disse: « Levati e vattene colla tua famiglia a stare dovunque troverai, perchè il Signore ha chiamata la fame, ed essa verrà sulla terra per sette anni ».	1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'
2 La donna si mosse, e, facendo secondo la parola dell'uomo di Dio, andò colla sua famiglia a stare per molto tempo nella terra dei Filistei.	2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.
3 Finiti i sette anni, la donna tornò dal paese dei Filistei e andò dal re a reclamare la sua casa e le sue terre.	3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.
4 In quel momento il re parlava con Giezi servo dell'uomo di Dio, e gli diceva: « Raccontami tutte le maraviglie che ha fatte Eliseo ».	4 Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. 'Tel me', he was saying, 'al aboutthe marvels which Elisha did.'
5 Proprio mentre Giezi raccontava al re la risurrezione d'un morto, comparve, a reclamare la sua casa e le sue terre, la donna, il figlio della quale era stato risuscitato. Giezi disse: « Questa, o re mio signore, è quella donna, e questo il figlio risuscitato da Eliseo ».	5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 'My lord king,' Gehazi said, 'this is thevery woman, and that is her son whom Elisha raised to life.'
6 Il re interrogò la donna, che ne fece il racconto. Poi il re le diede un eunuco, dicendo: « Restituiscile tutto il suo e tutte le entrate delle terre dal giorno in cui lasciò il paese fino ad oggi ».	6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'
7 Eliseo andò a Damasco. Benadad re della Siria, che era malato, ne fu informato con queste parole: « E' venuto qua l'uomo di Dio ».	7 Elisha went to Damascus. Ben-Hadad king of Aram was il , and was told, 'The man of God has come althe way to us.'
8 Allora il re disse ad Azael: « Presi teco dei regali, va a trovare l'uomo di Dio, consulta per mezzo di lui il Signore, e domandagli se potrò uscir da questa malattia ».	8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'
9 Azael andò a trovarlo, e, presi seco dei regali e tutto ciò che c'era di buono a Damasco, ne caricò quaranta cammelli, andò a presentarsi a lui e gli disse: « Il tuo figlio Benadad re di Siria, mi ha mandato a te per dirti: Potrò guarire da questa malattia? »	9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '
10 Eliseo gli disse: « Va e digli: Tu guarirai. Ma il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere che senza dubbio morrà ».	10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'
11 Fermatosi con lui, l'uomo di Dio si conturbò fino a diventar tutto rosso in viso, e pianse.	11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.
12 Azael gli disse: « Per qual motivo piange il mio signore? » Eliseo rispose: « Perchè so il male che tu farai ai figli d'Israele. Tu darai alle fiamme le loro città fortificate, ucciderai di spada i loro giovani, schiaccerai i loro pargoletti e sventrerai le incinte ».	12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'
13 Azael disse: « E chi sono io tuo servo, un cane, per fare questa gran cosa? » Eliseo a lui: « Il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere che tu sarai re della Siria ».	13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'
14 Azael, partitosi da Eliseo, tornò al suo signore, il quale gli disse: « Che ti ha detto Eliseo? » Azael rispose: « M'ha detto che ricupererai la salute ».	14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'
15 Ma il giorno dopo Azael, presa una coperta e inzuppatala d 'acqua, la distese sulla faccia del re, che morì. Così Azael regnò in suo luogo.	15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.
16 L'anno quinto di Ioram figlio di Acab re d'Israele, essendo Giosafat re di Giuda, Ioram, figlio di Giosafat re di Giuda, regnò sopra Giuda.	16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.
17 Egli aveva trentadue anni quando cominciò a regnare e regnò otto anni in Gerusalemme.	17 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.
18 Camminò nelle vie dei re d'Israele, come la casa di Acab, avendo per moglie la figlia di Acab; e fece ciò che è ma le nel cospetto del Signore.	18 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing; he had married one ofAhab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.

23 Il resto degli atti di Ioram, tutto quello ch'egli fece, non son tutte queste cose scritte nel libro delle cronache dei re di Giuda?	23 The rest of the history of Jehoram, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Judah?
24 Ioram si addormentò coi suoi padri, e fu sepolto con essi nella città di David, e gli successe nel regno il suo figlio Ocozia.	24 Then Jehoram fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David; his sonAhaziah succeeded him.
25 L'anno duodecimo di Ioram, figlio di Acab re d'Israele, regnò Ocozia, figlio di Ioram re di Giuda.	25 In the twelfth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah,became king.
26 Ocozia aveva ventidue anni quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò un anno in Gerusalemme: sua madre era Atalia, figlia di Amri re d'Israele.	26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.

Ocozia, figlio di Ioram, re di Giuda, andò a visitare Ioram figlio di Acab a Iezrael, ov'era ammalato.	29 King Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah,fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visitJehoram son of Ahab because he was ailing.
