1 La parola del Signore fu indirizzata a Iehu, figlio di Anani, in questi termini contro Baasa:	1 The word of Yahweh came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha:
2 « Perchè, dopo che io t'ho innalzato dalla polvere e ti ho posto capo sul mio popolo d'Israele, tu hai camminato nelle vie di Geroboamo ed hai fatto peccare il mio popolo Israele, per irritarmi coi tuoi peccati,	2 'I raised you from the dust and made you leader of my people Israel, but you have fol owed Jeroboam'sexample and led my people Israel into sins which provoke my anger.
3 ecco io mieterò la posterità di Baasae farò della tua casa, quello che ho fatto della casa di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat.	3 Now I shal sweep away Baasha and his House; I shal make your House like the House of Jeroboamson of Nebat.
4 Della stirpe di Baasa, chi morrà in città sarà mangiato dai cani, chi morrà in campagna sarà divorato dagli uccelli del cielo ».	4 Those of Baasha's family who die in the city, the dogs wil eat; and those who die in the open country,the birds of the air wil eat.'
5 Il resto dei fatti di Baasa, tutto quello che fece, le sue guerre, non son esse scritte nel libro delle cronache dei re d'Israele?	5 The rest of the history of Baasha, his career, his valour, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annalsof the Kings of Israel?
6 Baasa poi si addormentò coi suoi padri e fu sepolto in Tersa, e gli successe nel regno il suo figlio Eia.	6 When Baasha fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in Tirzah; his son Elah succeeded him.
7 Essendosi fatta sentire per mezzo di Iehu profeta, figlio di Anani, la parola del Signore contro Baasa e contro la sua casa, e contro tutto il male ch'egli aveva fatto nel cospetto del Signore, per irritarlo colle opere delle sue mani e far sì che la sua casa diventasse come quella di Geroboamo, per questo egli lo uccise (Iehu profeta, figlio di Anani).	7 Furthermore, the word of Yahweh was delivered through the prophet Jehu son of Hanani againstBaasha and his House, first because of the many ways in which he had displeased Yahweh, provoking him toanger by his actions and becoming like the House of Jeroboam; secondly because he had destroyed that House.
8 L'anno vigesimo sesto di Asa re di Giuda, Eia, figlio di Baasa, regnò sopra Israele, in Tersa, per due anni.	8 In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became king of Israel at Tirzah, fortwo years.
9 Il suo servo Zambri, capo della metà della cavalleria, gli si ribellò, e mentre Eia, già ubriaco, stava a bere a Tersa, in casa d'Arsa governatore di Tersa,	9 Zimri, one of his officers, captain of half his chariotry, plotted against him. While he was at Tirzah,drinking himself senseless in the house of Arza who was master of the palace in Tirzah,
10 Zambri gli si gettò addosso, lo colpì e l'uccise, l'anno vigesimo settimo di Asa re di Giuda, e regnò in suo luogo.	10 Zimri came in, struck him down and kil ed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, andsucceeded him.
11 Divenuto re e assisosi sul trono, sterminò tutta la casa di Baasa, senza lasciare di essa in vita neppure un maschio, nè parenti, nè amici.	11 On his accession, as soon as he was seated on the throne, he butchered Baasha's entire family, notleaving him one manjack of them alive, neither relative nor friend.
12 Così Zambri distrusse tutta la casa di Baasa, secondo la parola che il Signore aveva detta a Baasa per bocca di Iehu profeta,	12 Zimri destroyed the whole House of Baasha, in accordance with the word which Yahweh had spokenagainst Baasha through the prophet Jehu,
13 a causa di tutti i peccati di Baasa e di Eia suo figlio che peccarono e fecero peccare Israele, provocando ad ira, colle loro vanità, il Signore Dio d'Israele.	13 because of all the sins of Baasha and his son Elah into which they had led Israel, provoking the angerof Yahweh, God of Israel, with their worthless idols.
14 Il resto dei fatti d'Ela, e tutto quello che egli fece, non è esso scritto nel libro delle cronache dei re d'Israele?	14 The history of Elah, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings ofIsrael?
15 L'anno vigesimo settimo di Asa, re di Giuda, Zambri regnò per sette giorni in Tersa. Allora l'esercito assediava Gebbeton, città dei Filistei.	15 In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri became king for seven days, at Tirzah. Thepeople were then encamped in front of Gibbethon, a Philistine town.
16 Avendo udito che Zambri s'era ribellato ed aveva ucciso il re, tutto Israele elesse per suo re Amri, che era capo della milizia d'Israele in quel giorno nel campo.	16 When news reached the camp of how Zimri had not only plotted against but actual y killed the king, alIsrael proclaimed the army commander Omri as king of Israel in the camp that very day.
17 Amri allora salì con tutto Israele da Gebbeton ad assediare Tersa.	17 Omri, and all Israel with him, raised the siege of Gibbethon and laid siege to Tirzah.
18 Zambri, quando vide che la città stava per essere presa, entrò nel palazzo, e si fece divorare dalle fiamme colla casa reale, e morì	18 When Zimri saw that the town had been captured, he went into the keep of the royal palace, burnedthe palace over his own head, and died.
19 nei suoi peccati che aveva commessi, facendo il male nel cospetto del Signore, camminando nelle vie di Geroboamo e nel peccato col quale egli fece peccare Israele.	19 This was because of the sin which he had committed in doing what is displeasing to Yahweh, bycopying the example of Jeroboam and the sin into which he had led Israel.
20 Il resto degli atti di Zambri, le sue congiure, la sua tirannide, non sono descritte queste cose nel libro delle cronache dei re d'Israele ?	20 The rest of the history of Zimri and of his conspiracy, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Israel?
21 Allora il popolo d'Israele fu diviso in due parti: una metà seguiva Tebni figlio di Ginet, per farlo re; l'altra metà Amri.	21 The people of Israel then split into two factions: one half fol owing Tibni son of Ginath to make himking, the other half fol owing Omri.

24 Egli poi comprò per due talenti d'argento il monte di Samaria da Somer; lo coprì d'edifìci, e, dal nome di Somer padrone del monte, la città che vi fabbricò la chiamò Samaria.	24 Then for two talents of silver he bought the hil of Samaria from Shemer and on it built a town whichhe named Samaria after Shemer who had owned the hil .
25 Amri fece il male nel cospetto del Signore, agi più iniquamente di tutti quelli che furono prima di lui,	25 Omri did what is displeasing to Yahweh, and was worse than al his predecessors.

28 Amri si addormentò coi suoi padri, e fu sepolto in Samaria, e gli successe nel regno Acab suo figlio. Principio del regno di Acab	28 When Omri fel asleep with his ancestors, he was buried in Samaria; his son Ahab succeeded him.
