| 3 Andati adunque a cercare in tutto il territorio d'Israele una bella fanciulla, e trovatala in Abisag Sunamite, la menarono al re. | 3 So they sought for a beautiful maiden throughout all the territory of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king. |
| 4 La fanciulla era oltremodo bella, dormiva col re, e lo serviva; ma il re non la conobbe. | 4 The maiden was very beautiful; and she became the king's nurse and ministered to him; but the king knew her not. |
| 5 Or Adonia, figlio di Aggit s'innalzava, dicendo: « Regnerò io ». E si procurò dei carri, dei cavalieri e cinquanta uomini che correvano davanti a lui. | 5 Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king"; and he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. |

| 25 Perchè egli oggi è disceso ad immolare buoi, animali grassi e montoni in gran numero: vi ha invitati tutti i figli del re, i capi dell'esercito e il sacerdote Abiatar, i quali mangiano e bevono dinanzi a lui e gridano: Viva il re Adonia! | 25 For he has gone down this day, and has sacrificed oxen, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, Joab the commander of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and saying, 'Long live King Adonijah!' |
| 26 Ma egli non ha invitato nè me tuo servo, nè il sacerdote Sadoc, nè Banaia figlio di Ioiada, nè il tuo servo Salomone. | 26 But me, your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he has not invited. |
| 27 Tal cosa vien forse dal re mio signore, e tu non hai fatto conoscere a me tuo servo chi dovrà sedere sul trono del re mio signore dopo di lui? » | 27 Has this thing been brought about by my lord the king and you have not told your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?" |
| 28 Il re David disse, come risposta: « Chiamatemi Betsabea ». Quando essa fu entrata, mentre gli stava davanti, | 28 Then King David answered, "Call Bathsheba to me." So she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king. |

| 31 Allora Betsabea, chinata la faccia verso terra, adorò il re e disse: « Viva in eterno il mio signore David! ». | 31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, and did obeisance to the king, and said, "May my lord King David live for ever!" |

| 36 Banaia figlio di Ioiada rispose al re: « Così sia! Così parli il Signore Dio del re mio signore. | 36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, "Amen! May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so. |
| 37 Come il Signore fu col re mio signore, così sia con Salomone, e innalzi il suo trono anche sopra il trono del re David mio signore ». | 37 As the LORD has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David." |
| 38 Il sacerdote Sadoc, il profeta Natan, Banaia figlio di Ioiada, i Ceretei e i Feletei scesero, e fatto montar Salomone sulla mula del re David, lo menarono a Gihon. | 38 So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down and caused Solomon to ride on King David's mule, and brought him to Gihon. |
| 39 Il sacerdote Sadoc, preso il corno dell'olio dal Tabernacolo, unse Salomone. Al suono della tromba tutto il popolo disse: « Viva il re Salomone! » | 39 There Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tent, and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, "Long live King Solomon!" |

| 51 Fu ciò riferito a Salomone con queste parole: « Ecco, Adonia, avendo paura di Salomone, sta stretto al corno dell'altare e dice: Mi giuri il re Salomone di non far morire di spada il suo servo ». | 51 And it was told Solomon, "Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon; for, lo, he has laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not slay his servant with the sword.'" |
| 52 Salomone disse: « Se sarà uomo dabbene, non cadrà in terra nemmeno uno dei suoi capelli, ma se si troverà in lui del male, andrà alla morte ». | 52 And Solomon said, "If he prove to be a worthy man, not one of his hairs shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die." |
