Prima lettera ai Corinzi 1

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Paolo, chiamato apostolo di Cristo Gesù per volontà di Dio, e il fratello Sostene,	1 Paul, cal ed by the wil of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and Sosthenes, our brother,
2 alla Chiesa di Dio che è in Corinto, a voi santificati in Cristo Gesù, chiamati santi con tutti quelli che invocano in ogni luogo il nome del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, Signore loro e nostro,	2 to the church of God in Corinth, to those who have been consecrated in Christ Jesus and cal ed to beGod's holy people, with al those everywhere who cal on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord as wel asours.
3 grazia a voi e pace da Dio Padre nostro e Signore Gesù Cristo!	3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4 Rendo grazie sempre a Dio per voi, per la grazia di Dio che v'è stata data in Cristo Gesù,	4 I am continual y thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in ChristJesus;
5 perchè in tutto siete stati arricchiti in lui d'ogni dono di parola e d'ogni conoscenza.	5 in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge;
6 Così la testimonianza di Cristo fu confermata in voi,	6 so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.
7 in guisa che non vi manca nessun carisma, mentre che aspettate la rivelazione del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.	7 And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed;
8 Il quale vi confermerà anche sino alla fine, in modo da essere irreprensibili, nel giorno del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.	8 he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day ofour Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Fedele è Iddio, per opera del quale siete stati chiamati alla comunione del Figlio suo, Gesù Cristo Signor nostro.	9 You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Io vi esorto, o fratelli, per il nome del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, che diciate tutti la stessa cosa, e non vi siano tra voi degli scismi, ma siate uniti nello stesso pensare e nello stesso sentimento.	10 Brothers, I urge you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, not to have factions among yourselves butal to be in agreement in what you profess; so that you are perfectly united in your beliefs and judgements.
11 Giacchè mi è stato riferito intorno a voi, fratelli miei, da quei di Cloe, che vi son tra voi delle contese.	11 From what Chloe's people have been telling me about you, brothers, it is clear that there are seriousdifferences among you.
12 E questo dico, che ciascun di voi dice: «Io son di Paolo» e «Io di Apollo» e «Io di Cefa» e «Io di Cristo».	12 What I mean is this: every one of you is declaring, 'I belong to Paul,' or 'I belong to Apollos,' or 'Ibelong to Cephas,' or 'I belong to Christ.'
13 Cristo è stato fatto a pezzi? Forse Paolo fu messo in croce per voi, e nel nome di Paolo siete stati battezzati?	13 Has Christ been split up? Was it Paul that was crucified for you, or was it in Paul's name that you werebaptised?
14 Ringrazio Dio che non ho battezzato nessuno di voi, all'infuori di Crispo e di Caio;	14 I am thankful I did not baptise any of you, except Crispus and Gaius,
15 che nessuno abbia a dire che siete stati battezzati nel mio nome.	15 so that no one can say that you were baptised in my name.
16 Ho battezzato anche la famiglia di Stefana; del resto, non so di aver battezzato altri.	16 Yes, I did baptise the family of Stephanas, too; but besides these I do not think I baptised anyone.
17 Cristo non mi ha mandato a battezzare, ma ad evangelizzare, non in sapienza di parole, ma perchè non sia resa vana la croce del Cristo.	17 After al , Christ sent me not to baptise, but to preach the gospel; and not by means of wisdom oflanguage, wise words which would make the cross of Christ pointless.
18 Infatti la parola della croce per quei che si perdono è una pazzia; ma per chi si salva com'è di noi, è la virtù di Dio.	18 The message of the cross is fol y for those who are on the way to ruin, but for those of us who are onthe road to salvation it is the power of God.
19 Giacchè fu scritto: " Sperderò la sapienza dei savi e l'intelligenza degli intelligenti annienterò ".	19 As scripture says: I am going to destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing theunderstanding of any who understand.
20 O dov'è il savio? dove lo scriba? dove il dialettico di questo secolo? o non ha Iddio fatto vedere com'è stolta la sapienza del mondo?	20 Where are the philosophers? Where are the experts? And where are the debaters of this age? Do younot see how God has shown up human wisdom as fol y?
21 Posciachè, nei sapienti disegni di Dio, il mondo non conobbe Dio per via della sapienza, si compiacque Dio di salvare i credenti mediante la stoltezza della predicazione.	21 Since in the wisdom of God the world was unable to recognise God through wisdom, it was God's ownpleasure to save believers through the fol y of the gospel.
22 Poichè e i Giudei vogliono dei miracoli e i Greci cercano la sapienza;	22 While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for wisdom,
23 ebbene noi annunziamo Cristo crocifisso, scandalo a' Giudei, stoltezza per i Gentili,	23 we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the Jews an obstacle they cannot get over, to the gentilesfoolishness,
24 ma per quelli chiamati, siano Giudei, siano Greci, Cristo, potenza di Dio e sapienza di Dio.	24 but to those who have been cal ed, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the powerof God and the wisdom of God.
25 Giacchè questa pazzia di Dio e più sapiente degli uomini, e la debolezza di Dio è più forte degli uomini.	25 God's fol y is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength.
26 Guardate la vostra vocazione, o fratelli; non molti tra voi son sapienti secondo la carne, non molti potenti, non molti nobili;	26 Consider, brothers, how you were cal ed; not many of you are wise by human standards, not manyinfluential, not many from noble families.
27 ma le cose stolte del mondo ha scelto Dio per svergognare i sapienti, le debolezze del mondo ha scelto per svergognare i forti,	27 No, God chose those who by human standards are fools to shame the wise; he chose those who byhuman standards are weak to shame the strong,
28 e le cose vili del mondo e le spregevoli elesse Dio, cose che non son nulla, per annientare le cose che sono;	28 those who by human standards are common and contemptible -- indeed those who count for nothing-- to reduce to nothing al those that do count for something,
29 acciocchè nessun individuo si glorii al cospetto di Dio.	29 so that no human being might feel boastful before God.
30 Orbene per opera di lui voi siete in Cristo Gesù; il quale è stato fatto da Dio sapienza per noi, e giustizia e santificazione e redenzione;	30 It is by him that you exist in Christ Jesus, who for us was made wisdom from God, and saving justiceand holiness and redemption.
31 affinchè, come sta scritto: " Chi si gloria, nel Signore si glorii ".	31 As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.
