1 - Eliseo profeta chiamò uno dei figli dei profeti e gli disse: «Cingiti i fianchi e prenditi in mano questa ampolla di olio e vai in Ramot di Galaad.	1 Now the prophet Elisha called one of the sons of the prophets, and he said to him: “Gird your waist, and take this little bottle of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead.
2 Giunto colà, vedrai Jeu figliuolo di Josafat figliuolo di Namsi. Entrerai, lo farai alzare di mezzo de' suoi fratelli e lo farai entrare in una camera appartata.	2 And when you arrive in that place, you will see Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi. And upon entering, you shall raise him up from the midst of his brothers, and you shall lead him into an inner room.
3 Poi presa l'ampolla dell'olio la verserai sul capo di lui, dicendo: - Così dice il Signore: Io ti ho unto re sopra Israele. - Aprirai quindi la porta e te ne fuggirai senza indugiarti colà».	3 And taking the little bottle of oil, you shall pour it upon his head, and you shall say: ‘Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you as king over Israel.’ And you shall open the door and flee. And you shall not remain in that place.”
4 Il giovane servo del profeta se ne andò dunque in Ramot di Galaad,	4 Therefore, the young man, a servant of the prophet, went away to Ramoth Gilead.
5 e quando vi giunse, i principi dell'esercito se ne stavano seduti; egli disse: «Ho da dirti una parola, o capo». Soggiunse Jeu: «A quale di tutti noi?», ed egli disse: «A te, o capo».	5 And he entered that place, and behold, the leaders of the army were sitting there, and he said, “I have a word for you, O prince.” And Jehu said, “For which one among us all?” And he said, “For you, O prince.”
6 Questi si levò ed entrò nella stanza, e quegli versò l'olio sul capo di lui, dicendo: «Il Signore Dio d'Israele dice questo: - Io ti ho unto re sopra il popolo del Signore Israele,	6 And he rose up and entered into the room. And he poured the oil on his head, and he said: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘I have anointed you as king over Israel, the people of the Lord.
7 e tu colpirai la casa di Acab, tuo signore, e io farò vendetta del sangue de' miei servi i profeti e del sangue di tutti i servi del Signore versato dalla mano di Jezabel,	7 And you will shall strike down the house of Ahab, your lord. And I will avenge the blood of my servants, the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord, from the hand of Jezebel.
8 distruggerò tutta la casa di Acab e ucciderò di Acab colui che orina al muro e colui che è rinchiuso e colui che è l'ultimo in Israele	8 And I will destroy the entire house of Ahab. And I will cause to pass away from Ahab, whatever urinates against a wall, and whatever is lame, and whatever is least in Israel.
9 e ridurrò la casa di Acab come la casa di Geroboamo figlio di Nabat, e come la casa di Baasa figlio di Aia.	9 And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha, the son of Ahijah.
10 E la stessa Jezabel sarà divorata dai cani nel campo di Jezrael, nè vi sarà alcuno che la seppellisca». Poi aprì la porta e fuggì.	10 Also, the dogs will consume Jezebel, in the field of Jezreel. Neither will there be anyone who may bury her.’ ” And then he opened the door, and he fled.
11 Quando Jeu uscì e venne ai servi del suo padrone, questi gli chiesero: «Va tutto bene? A che è venuto quel pazzo?». Ed egli disse: «Voi conoscete quell'uomo e sapete cosa disse».	11 Then Jehu went out to the servants of his lord. And they said to him: “Is everything well? Why has this insane man come to you?” And he said to them, “You know the man, and what he said.”
12 Ma essi risposero: «Niente affatto; narracelo tu». Ed egli a loro: «Mi parlò in questo e questo modo e disse: - Questo dice il Signore: Io ti ho unto re sopra Israele -».	12 But they responded, “That is false; instead, you should tell us.” And he said to them, “He said to me these certain things, and he said, ‘Thus says the Lord: I have anointed you as king over Israel.’ ”
13 Si affrettarono allora tutti a prendere ciascuno il proprio mantello e a metterglielo sotto i piedi come per fargli un tribunale; poi diedero fiato alla tromba e dissero: «Jeu è il re».	13 And so they hurried away. And each one, taking his cloak, placed it under his feet, in the manner of a seat for judgment. And they sounded the trumpet, and they said: “Jehu reigns!”
14 Jeu adunque figlio di Josafat figlio di Namsi si ribellò a Joram. Ora Joram assediava Ramot di Galaad insieme con tutto Israele contro Azael, re della Siria,	14 Then Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. Now Joram had besieged Ramoth Gilead, he and all of Israel, against Hazael, the king of Syria.
15 ed era ritornato in Jezrael per curarsi delle ferite che gli aveano procurato i Siri, mentre combatteva contro Azael re della Siria. Disse Jeu: «Se vi piace, nessuno esca e fugga dalla città per andare a portare la notizia in Jezrael».	15 And he had returned, so that he might be cured at Jezreel, because of his wounds. For the Syrians had struck him, while he was fighting against Hazael, the king of Syria. And Jehu said, “If it pleases you, let no one depart, fleeing from the city; otherwise he may go and give a report in Jezreel.”
16 Ma Jeu salì sul suo carro e partì alla volta di Jezrael, dove Joram era infermo e dove Ocozia, re di Giuda, era venuto a trovarlo.	16 And he climbed up and set out for Jezreel, because Joram was sick there, and Ahaziah, the king of Judah, had gone down to visit Joram.
17 La sentinella, che se ne stava sulla torre di Jezrael, vide la schiera di Jeu che veniva, e disse: «Veggo una schiera». Joram disse: «Prendi il carro e manda incontro a loro uno per domandare: - Va tutto bene? -».	17 And so the watchman, who was standing upon the tower of Jezreel, saw the crowd of Jehu arriving, and he said, “I see a crowd.” And Joram said: “Take a chariot, and send to meet them. And those who go should say, ‘Is everything well?’ ”
18 Andò colui, che era salito sul carro, incontro a Jeu e disse: «Così domanda il re: - Tutto è in pace? -». Ma Jeu rispose: «Che importa a te della pace? Passa e seguimi». La sentinella diede allora l'annunzio: «Il messo è giunto fino a loro ma non torna indietro».	18 Therefore, he who had climbed into the chariot went away to meet him, and he said, “The king says this: ‘Is everything peaceful?’ ” And Jehu said: “What peace is there for you? Pass by and follow me.” Also the watchman gave a report, saying, “The messenger went to them, but he did not return.”
19 Mandò [Joram] ancora un secondo carro e il messo arrivato da loro disse: «Così chiede il re: - Vi è pace? -». E rispose Jeu: «Cosa importa a te della pace? Passa e seguimi».	19 And then he sent a second chariot of horses. And he went to them, and he said, “The king says this: ‘Is there peace?’ ” And Jehu said: “What peace is there for you? Pass by and follow me.”
20 La sentinella annunziò anche questo dicendo: «Il messo è giunto fino ad essi e non ritorna. Or dal modo d'andare sembra Jeu figliuolo di Namsi, poichè s'avanza precipitosamente».	20 Then the watchman gave a report, saying: “He went all the way to them, but he did not return. But their advance is like the advance of Jehu, the son of Nimshi. For he advances precipitously.”
21 Soggiunse Joram: «Attacca i cavalli al carro». Allestirono il carro di lui e Joram, re di Israele, e Ocozia re di Giuda, uscirono ciascuno sul proprio carro e vennero incontro a Jeu e lo trovarono nel campo di Nabot Jezraelita.	21 And Joram said, “Yoke the chariot.” And they yoked his chariot. And Joram, the king of Israel, and Ahaziah, the king of Judah, departed, each in his chariot. And they went out to meet Jehu. And they met him in the field of Naboth, the Jezreelite.
22 Al vederlo Joram disse a Jeu: «Abbiamo pace, o Jeu?». Ma egli rispose: «Che pace? Ancora durano le fornicazioni di Jezabel tua madre e i molti suoi venefici».	22 And when Joram had seen Jehu, he said, “Is there peace, Jehu?” And he responded: “What is peace? For still the fornications of your mother, Jezebel, and her many poisons, are thriving.”
23 Joram voltò indietro e fuggendo disse ad Ocozia: «Tradimento, Ocozia!».	23 Then Joram turned his hand, and, fleeing, he said to Ahaziah, “Treachery, Ahaziah!”
24 Ma Jeu tese il suo arco e ferì Joram in mezzo alle scapole e la freccia gli trapassò il cuore, e tosto cadde sul suo cocchio.	24 But Jehu bent his bow with his hand, and he struck Joram between the shoulders. And the arrow went through his heart, and immediately he fell in his chariot.
25 Volto quindi a Badacer, suo capitano, Jeu disse: «Prendilo e gettalo nel campo di Nabot Jezraelita; poichè ricordo che quando io e tu, sedendo su un carro, seguivamo Acab padre di costui, il Signore pronunciò contro di lui questa sentenza:	25 And Jehu said to Bidkar, his commander: “Take and cast him into the field of Naboth, the Jezreelite. For I remember, when you and I, sitting in a chariot, were following Ahab, this man’s father, that the Lord lifted this burden upon him, saying:
26 - Per il sangue di Nabot e per il sangue dei figliuoli di lui che ieri ho visto, renderò la pari a te in questo campo, - dice il Signore. Ora dunque prendilo e gettalo secondo la parola del Signore, nel campo.	26 ‘Certainly, I will repay you in this field, says the Lord, for the blood of Naboth, and for the blood of his sons, which I saw yesterday, says the Lord.’ Therefore, take him now, and cast him into the field, in accord with the word of the Lord.”
27 Ocozia, re di Giuda, al veder ciò, fuggì per la via della casa dell'orto e Jeu lo inseguì e disse: «Anche costui colpite sul suo carro». E lo ferirono alla salita di Gaver, presso Jablaam. Riuscì però a rifugiarsi in Mageddo, dove morì.	27 But Ahaziah, the king of Judah, seeing this, fled along the way of the garden house. And Jehu pursued him, and he said, “Strike this one also in his chariot.” And they struck him on the ascent to Gur, which is beside Ibleam. But he fled into Megiddo, and he died there.
28 E i suoi servi lo posero sopra il carro e lo portarono a Gerusalemme e lo seppellirono in un sepolcro co' suoi padri nella città di Davide.	28 And his servants placed him upon his chariot, and they took him to Jerusalem. And they buried him in the sepulcher with his fathers, in the city of David.
29 Ocozia era divenuto re di Giuda nell'anno undecimo di Joram figlio di Acab.	29 In the eleventh year of Joram, the son of Ahab, Ahaziah reigned over Judah.
30 Jeu entrò in Jezrael. Ora Jezabel, avendo saputo della sua venuta, si tinse gli occhi di nero, si adornò il capo e guardò dalla finestra	30 And Jehu went into Jezreel. But Jezebel, hearing of his arrival, painted her eyes with cosmetics, and adorned her head. And she watched through a window,
31 a Jeu, che entrava per la porta e disse: «Può esservi mai pace per Zambri, che ha ucciso il suo padrone?».	31 as Jehu was entering through the gate. And she said, “Is it possible for there to be peace for Zimri, who killed his lord?”
32 Jeu levò il capo verso la finestra e dimandò: «Chi è costei?». E due o tre eunuchi s'inchinarono verso di lui,	32 And Jehu lifted up his face to the window, and he said, “Who is this woman?” And two or three eunuchs bowed down before him.
33 ed egli disse loro: «Buttatela giù». Ed essi la buttaron giù e il muro fu imbrattato di sangue e gli zoccoli dei cavalli la calpestarono.	33 And he said to them, “Throw her down with force.” And they threw her forcefully, and the wall was splattered with her blood, and the hoofs of the horses trampled her.
34 Come fu entrato per mangiare e bere disse: «Andate a vedere quella maledetta e seppellitela, poichè è figlia di re».	34 And when he had entered, so that he might eat and drink, he said: “Go, and see to that cursed woman, and bury her. For she is the daughter of a king.”
35 Nell'andare per seppellirla non trovarono che il cranio, i piedi e le estremità delle mani.	35 But when they had gone, so that they might bury her, they found nothing but the skull, and the feet, and the ends of her hands.
36 Ritornarono poi a dargliene l'annunzio. E Jeu disse: «È la parola del Signore che proferì per mezzo del suo servo Elia Tesbite, dicendo: - Nel campo di Jezrael i cani mangeranno le carni di Jezabel,	36 And returning, they reported to him. And Jehu said: “It is the word of the Lord, which he spoke though his servant, Elijah the Tishbite, saying: ‘In the field of Jezreel, the dogs will consume the flesh of Jezebel.
37 e saranno le carni di Jezabel come lo sterco sulla faccia della terra nel campo di Jezrael. Così che quei che passeranno dovranno dire: È costei quella Jezabel».	37 And the flesh of Jezebel will be like dung upon the face of the earth, in the field of Jezreel, so that those who pass by may say: Is this that same Jezebel?’ ”
