1 Tu però insegna quello che è conforme alla sana dottrina.	1 But you are to speak the things that befit sound doctrine.
2 Gli uomini anziani siano sobri, dignitosi, saggi, saldi nella fede, nella carità e nella pazienza.	2 Old men should be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.
3 Anche le donne anziane abbiano un comportamento santo: non siano maldicenti né schiave del vino; sappiano piuttosto insegnare il bene,	3 Old women, similarly, should be in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well,
4 per formare le giovani all’amore del marito e dei figli,	4 so that they may teach prudence to the young women, so that they may love their husbands, love their children,
5 a essere prudenti, caste, dedite alla famiglia, buone, sottomesse ai propri mariti, perché la parola di Dio non venga screditata.	5 be sensible, chaste, restrained, have concern for the household, be kind, be subordinate to their husbands: so that the Word of God may be not blasphemed.
6 Esorta ancora i più giovani a essere prudenti,	6 Exhort young men similarly, so that they may show self-restraint.
7 offrendo te stesso come esempio di opere buone: integrità nella dottrina, dignità,	7 In all things, present yourself as an example of good works: in doctrine, with integrity, with seriousness,
8 linguaggio sano e irreprensibile, perché il nostro avversario resti svergognato, non avendo nulla di male da dire contro di noi.	8 with sound words, irreproachably, so that he who is an opponent may dread that he has nothing evil to say about us.
9 Esorta gli schiavi a essere sottomessi ai loro padroni in tutto; li accontentino e non li contraddicano,	9 Exhort servants to be submissive to their masters, in all things pleasing, not contradicting,
10 non rubino, ma dimostrino fedeltà assoluta, per fare onore in tutto alla dottrina di Dio, nostro salvatore.	10 not cheating, but in all things showing good fidelity, so that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.
11 È apparsa infatti la grazia di Dio, che porta salvezza a tutti gli uomini	11 For the grace of God our Savior has appeared to all men,
12 e ci insegna a rinnegare l’empietà e i desideri mondani e a vivere in questo mondo con sobrietà, con giustizia e con pietà,	12 instructing us to reject impiety and worldly desires, so that we may live soberly and justly and piously in this age,
13 nell’attesa della beata speranza e della manifestazione della gloria del nostro grande Dio e salvatore Gesù Cristo.	13 looking forward to the blessed hope and the advent of the glory of the great God and of our Savior Jesus Christ.
14 Egli ha dato se stesso per noi, per riscattarci da ogni iniquità e formare per sé un popolo puro che gli appartenga, pieno di zelo per le opere buone.	14 He gave himself for our sake, so that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse for himself an acceptable people, pursuers of good works.
15 Questo devi insegnare, raccomandare e rimproverare con tutta autorità. Nessuno ti disprezzi!	15 Speak and exhort and argue these things with all authority. Let no one despise you.
