Lettera ai Galati 1

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Paolo, apostolo non da parte di uomini, né per mezzo di uomo, ma per mezzo di Gesù Cristo e di Dio Padre che lo ha risuscitato dai morti,	1 From Paul, an apostle appointed not by human beings nor through any human being but by JesusChrist and God the Father who raised him from the dead,
2 e tutti i fratelli che sono con me, alle Chiese della Galazia:	2 and al the brothers who are with me, to the churches of Galatia.
3 grazia a voi e pace da Dio Padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo,	3 Grace and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ
4 che ha dato se stesso per i nostri peccati al fine di strapparci da questo mondo malvagio, secondo la volontà di Dio e Padre nostro,	4 who gave himself for our sins to liberate us from this present wicked world, in accordance with the wil ofour God and Father,
5 al quale sia gloria nei secoli dei secoli. Amen.	5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
6 Mi meraviglio che, così in fretta, da colui che vi ha chiamati con la grazia di Cristo voi passiate a un altro vangelo.	6 I am astonished that you are so promptly turning away from the one who cal ed you in the grace ofChrist and are going over to a different gospel-
7 Però non ce n’è un altro, se non che vi sono alcuni che vi turbano e vogliono sovvertire il vangelo di Cristo.	7 not that it is another gospel; except that there are trouble-makers among you who are seeking to pervertthe gospel of Christ.
8 Ma se anche noi stessi, oppure un angelo dal cielo vi annunciasse un vangelo diverso da quello che vi abbiamo annunciato, sia anàtema!	8 But even if we ourselves or an angel from heaven preaches to you a gospel other than the one wepreached to you, let God's curse be on him.
9 L’abbiamo già detto e ora lo ripeto: se qualcuno vi annuncia un vangelo diverso da quello che avete ricevuto, sia anàtema!	9 I repeat again what we declared before: anyone who preaches to you a gospel other than the one youwere first given is to be under God's curse.
10 Infatti, è forse il consenso degli uomini che cerco, oppure quello di Dio? O cerco di piacere agli uomini? Se cercassi ancora di piacere agli uomini, non sarei servitore di Cristo!	10 Whom am I trying to convince now, human beings or God? Am I trying to please human beings? If Iwere stil doing that I should not be a servant of Christ.
11 Vi dichiaro, fratelli, che il Vangelo da me annunciato non segue un modello umano;	11 Now I want to make it quite clear to you, brothers, about the gospel that was preached by me, that itwas no human message.
12 infatti io non l’ho ricevuto né l’ho imparato da uomini, ma per rivelazione di Gesù Cristo.	12 It was not from any human being that I received it, and I was not taught it, but it came to me through arevelation of Jesus Christ.
13 Voi avete certamente sentito parlare della mia condotta di un tempo nel giudaismo: perseguitavo ferocemente la Chiesa di Dio e la devastavo,	13 You have surely heard how I lived in the past, within Judaism, and how there was simply no limit to the way I persecuted the Church of God in my attempts to destroy it;
14 superando nel giudaismo la maggior parte dei miei coetanei e connazionali, accanito com’ero nel sostenere le tradizioni dei padri.	14 and how, in Judaism, I outstripped most of my Jewish contemporaries in my limitless enthusiasm forthe traditions of my ancestors.
15 Ma quando Dio, che mi scelse fin dal seno di mia madre e mi chiamò con la sua grazia, si compiacque	15 But when God, who had set me apart from the time when I was in my mother's womb, cal ed methrough his grace and chose
16 di rivelare in me il Figlio suo perché lo annunciassi in mezzo alle genti, subito, senza chiedere consiglio a nessuno,	16 to reveal his Son in me, so that I should preach him to the gentiles, I was in no hurry to confer with anyhuman being,
17 senza andare a Gerusalemme da coloro che erano apostoli prima di me, mi recai in Arabia e poi ritornai a Damasco.	17 or to go up to Jerusalem to see those who were already apostles before me. Instead, I went off toArabia, and later I came back to Damascus.
18 In seguito, tre anni dopo, salii a Gerusalemme per andare a conoscere Cefa e rimasi presso di lui quindici giorni;	18 Only after three years did I go up to Jerusalem to meet Cephas. I stayed fifteen days with him
19 degli apostoli non vidi nessun altro, se non Giacomo, il fratello del Signore.	19 but did not set eyes on any of the rest of the apostles, only James, the Lord's brother.
20 In ciò che vi scrivo – lo dico davanti a Dio – non mentisco.	20 I swear before God that what I have written is the truth.
21 Poi andai nelle regioni della Siria e della Cilìcia.	21 After that I went to places in Syria and Cilicia;
22 Ma non ero personalmente conosciuto dalle Chiese della Giudea che sono in Cristo;	22 and was stil unknown by sight to the churches of Judaea which are in Christ,
23 avevano soltanto sentito dire: «Colui che una volta ci perseguitava, ora va annunciando la fede che un tempo voleva distruggere».	23 they simply kept hearing it said, 'The man once so eager to persecute us is now preaching the faiththat he used to try to destroy,'
24 E glorificavano Dio per causa mia.	24 and they gave glory to God for me.
