Prima lettera ai Corinzi 11

1 Diventate miei imitatori, come io lo sono di Cristo.	1 Take me as your pattern, just as I take Christ for mine.
2 Vi lodo perché in ogni cosa vi ricordate di me e conservate le tradizioni così come ve le ho trasmesse.	2 I congratulate you for remembering me so consistently and for maintaining the traditions exactly as Ipassed them on to you.
3 Voglio però che sappiate che di ogni uomo il capo è Cristo, e capo della donna è l’uomo, e capo di Cristo è Dio.	3 But I should like you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man,and the head of Christ is God.
4 Ogni uomo che prega o profetizza con il capo coperto, manca di riguardo al proprio capo.	4 For any man to pray or to prophesy with his head covered shows disrespect for his head.
5 Ma ogni donna che prega o profetizza a capo scoperto, manca di riguardo al proprio capo, perché è come se fosse rasata.	5 And for a woman to pray or prophesy with her head uncovered shows disrespect for her head; it isexactly the same as if she had her hair shaved off.
6 Se dunque una donna non vuole coprirsi, si tagli anche i capelli! Ma se è vergogna per una donna tagliarsi i capelli o radersi, allora si copra.	6 Indeed, if a woman does go without a veil, she should have her hair cut off too; but if it is a shamefulthing for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, then she should wear a veil.
7 L’uomo non deve coprirsi il capo, perché egli è immagine e gloria di Dio; la donna invece è gloria dell’uomo.	7 But for a man it is not right to have his head covered, since he is the image of God and reflects God'sglory; but woman is the reflection of man's glory.
8 E infatti non è l’uomo che deriva dalla donna, ma la donna dall’uomo;	8 For man did not come from woman; no, woman came from man;
9 né l’uomo fu creato per la donna, ma la donna per l’uomo.	9 nor was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man:
10 Per questo la donna deve avere sul capo un segno di autorità a motivo degli angeli.	10 and this is why it is right for a woman to wear on her head a sign of the authority over her, becauseof the angels.
11 Tuttavia, nel Signore, né la donna è senza l’uomo, né l’uomo è senza la donna.	11 However, in the Lord, though woman is nothing without man, man is nothing without woman;
12 Come infatti la donna deriva dall’uomo, così l’uomo ha vita dalla donna; tutto poi proviene da Dio.	12 and though woman came from man, so does every man come from a woman, and everything comesfrom God.
13 Giudicate voi stessi: è conveniente che una donna preghi Dio col capo scoperto?	13 Decide for yourselves: does it seem fitting that a woman should pray to God without a veil?
14 Non è forse la natura stessa a insegnarci che è indecoroso per l’uomo lasciarsi crescere i capelli,	14 Does not nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,
15 mentre è una gloria per la donna lasciarseli crescere? La lunga capigliatura le è stata data a modo di velo.	15 but when a woman has long hair, it is her glory? After all, her hair was given to her to be a covering.
16 Se poi qualcuno ha il gusto della contestazione, noi non abbiamo questa consuetudine e neanche le Chiese di Dio.	16 If anyone wants to be contentious, I say that we have no such custom, nor do any of the churches ofGod.
17 Mentre vi do queste istruzioni, non posso lodarvi, perché vi riunite insieme non per il meglio, ma per il peggio.	17 Now that I am on the subject of instructions, I cannot congratulate you on the meetings you hold;they do more harm than good.
18 Innanzi tutto sento dire che, quando vi radunate in assemblea, vi sono divisioni tra voi, e in parte lo credo.	18 In the first place, I hear that when you al come together in your assembly, there are separatefactions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
19 È necessario infatti che sorgano fazioni tra voi, perché in mezzo a voi si manifestino quelli che hanno superato la prova.	19 It is no bad thing, either, that there should be differing groups among you so that those who are to betrusted among you can be clearly recognised.
20 Quando dunque vi radunate insieme, il vostro non è più un mangiare la cena del Signore.	20 So, when you meet together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat;
21 Ciascuno infatti, quando siete a tavola, comincia a prendere il proprio pasto e così uno ha fame, l’altro è ubriaco.	21 for when the eating begins, each one of you has his own supper first, and there is one going hungrywhile another is getting drunk.
22 Non avete forse le vostre case per mangiare e per bere? O volete gettare il disprezzo sulla Chiesa di Dio e umiliare chi non ha niente? Che devo dirvi? Lodarvi? In questo non vi lodo!	22 Surely you have homes for doing your eating and drinking in? Or have you such disregard for God'sassembly that you can put to shame those who have nothing? What am I to say to you? Congratulate you? Onthis I cannot congratulate you.
23 Io, infatti, ho ricevuto dal Signore quello che a mia volta vi ho trasmesso: il Signore Gesù, nella notte in cui veniva tradito, prese del pane	23 For the tradition I received from the Lord and also handed on to you is that on the night he wasbetrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread,
24 e, dopo aver reso grazie, lo spezzò e disse: «Questo è il mio corpo, che è per voi; fate questo in memoria di me».	24 and after he had given thanks, he broke it, and he said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this inremembrance of me.'
25 Allo stesso modo, dopo aver cenato, prese anche il calice, dicendo: «Questo calice è la nuova alleanza nel mio sangue; fate questo, ogni volta che ne bevete, in memoria di me».	25 And in the same way, with the cup after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood.Whenever you drink it, do this as a memorial of me.'
26 Ogni volta infatti che mangiate questo pane e bevete al calice, voi annunciate la morte del Signore, finché egli venga.	26 Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until hecomes.
27 Perciò chiunque mangia il pane o beve al calice del Signore in modo indegno, sarà colpevole verso il corpo e il sangue del Signore.	27 Therefore anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily is answerable for thebody and blood of the Lord.
28 Ciascuno, dunque, esamini se stesso e poi mangi del pane e beva dal calice;	28 Everyone is to examine himself and only then eat of the bread or drink from the cup;
29 perché chi mangia e beve senza riconoscere il corpo del Signore, mangia e beve la propria condanna.	29 because a person who eats and drinks without recognising the body is eating and drinking his owncondemnation.
30 È per questo che tra voi ci sono molti ammalati e infermi, e un buon numero sono morti.	30 That is why many of you are weak and il and a good number have died.
31 Se però ci esaminassimo attentamente da noi stessi, non saremmo giudicati;	31 If we were critical of ourselves we would not be condemned,
32 quando poi siamo giudicati dal Signore, siamo da lui ammoniti per non essere condannati insieme con il mondo.	32 but when we are judged by the Lord, we are corrected by the Lord to save us from being condemnedalong with the world.
33 Perciò, fratelli miei, quando vi radunate per la cena, aspettatevi gli uni gli altri.	33 So then, my brothers, when you meet for the Meal, wait for each other;
34 E se qualcuno ha fame, mangi a casa, perché non vi raduniate a vostra condanna. Quanto alle altre cose, le sistemerò alla mia venuta.	34 anyone who is hungry should eat at home. Then your meeting wil not bring your condemnation. Theother matters I shal arrange when I come.
