1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e disse:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
2 «Ordina agli Israeliti che espellano dall’accampamento ogni lebbroso, chiunque soffre di gonorrea e ogni impuro a causa di un morto.	2 'Order the Israelites to expel from the camp al those suffering from a contagious skin-disease or froma discharge, or who have become unclean by touching a corpse.
3 Allontanerete sia i maschi sia le femmine; li allontanerete dall’accampamento, così non renderanno impuro il loro accampamento, dove io abito tra di loro».	3 Whether man or woman, you will expel them; you wil expel them from the camp, so that they do notpollute their encampments, in the heart of which I dwel .'
4 Così fecero gli Israeliti: li espulsero fuori dell’accampamento. Come il Signore aveva parlato a Mosè, così fecero gli Israeliti.	4 The Israelites did so: they expel ed them from the camp. The Israelites did as Yahweh had told Moses.
5 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e disse:	5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
6 «Di’ agli Israeliti: “Quando un uomo o una donna avrà fatto qualsiasi peccato contro qualcuno, commettendo un’infedeltà contro il Signore, questa persona sarà in condizione di colpa.	6 'Speak to the Israelites: "If a man or woman commits any of the sins by which people break faith withYahweh, that person incurs guilt.
7 Dovrà confessare il peccato commesso. Restituirà per intero ciò per cui si è reso colpevole, vi aggiungerà un quinto e lo darà a colui verso il quale si è reso colpevole.	7 "The person must confess the sin committed and restore in ful the amount owed, with one-fifth added.Payment is to be made to the person wronged.
8 Ma se non vi è un parente stretto a cui dare il risarcimento, questo è da restituire al Signore, cioè al sacerdote, oltre l’ariete del rito di espiazione, mediante il quale si compirà l’espiazione per lui.	8 "If, however, the latter has no relation to whom restitution can be made, the restitution due to Yahwehreverts to the priest, apart from the ram of expiation with which the priest makes expiation for the guilty party.
9 Ogni prelievo su tutte le cose consacrate che gli Israeliti offriranno al sacerdote, apparterrà a lui;	9 For of everything the Israelites consecrate and bring to the priest he has a right to the portion setaside.
10 le cose sante di ognuno saranno sue, ma ciò che uno darà al sacerdote apparterrà a lui”».	10 Whatever anyone consecrates is his own; whatever is given to the priest belongs to the priest." '
11 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e disse:	11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
12 «Parla agli Israeliti dicendo loro: “Se un uomo ha una moglie che si è traviata e ha commesso un’infedeltà verso di lui	12 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If anyone has a wife who goes astray and is unfaithful to him,
13 e un altro uomo ha avuto rapporti con lei, ma la cosa è rimasta nascosta agli occhi del marito ed ella si è resa impura in segreto, non vi sono testimoni contro di lei e non è stata colta sul fatto,	13 if some other man sleeps with the woman without the husband's knowledge, and she secretly makesherself unclean, without any witness against her, and without anyone catching her in the act;
14 qualora uno spirito di gelosia si impadronisca del marito e questi diventi geloso della moglie che si è resa impura, oppure uno spirito di gelosia si impadronisca di lui e questi diventi geloso della moglie che non si è resa impura,	14 if, then, a spirit of suspicion comes over the husband and makes him suspicious of the wife who hasdisgraced herself, or again if this spirit of suspicion comes over him and makes him suspicious of his wife evenwhen she is innocent,
15 il marito condurrà sua moglie al sacerdote e per lei porterà come offerta un decimo di efa di farina d’orzo; non vi spanderà sopra olio né vi metterà sopra incenso, perché è un’oblazione di gelosia, un’oblazione commemorativa per ricordare una colpa.	15 the man wil bring his wife before the priest, and on her behalf make an offering of one-tenth of anephah of barley meal. He will not pour oil over it or put incense on it, because this is a cereal offering for a caseof suspicion, a memorial offering to recal guilt to mind.
16 Il sacerdote farà avvicinare la donna e la farà stare davanti al Signore.	16 "The priest will then bring the woman forward and place her before Yahweh.
17 Poi il sacerdote prenderà acqua santa in un vaso di terra; prenderà anche un po’ della polvere che è sul pavimento della Dimora e la metterà nell’acqua.	17 The priest wil then take fresh water in an earthen jar, and on the water throw dust that he has takenfrom the floor of the Dwel ing.
18 Il sacerdote farà quindi stare la donna davanti al Signore, le scioglierà la capigliatura e porrà nelle mani di lei l’oblazione commemorativa, che è oblazione di gelosia, mentre il sacerdote avrà in mano l’acqua di amarezza che porta maledizione.	18 After he has placed the woman before Yahweh, he will unbind her hair and put the commemorativecereal offering (that is, the cereal offering for a case of suspicion) into her hands. In his own hands the priest wilhold the water of bitterness and cursing.
19 Il sacerdote la farà giurare e dirà alla donna: Se nessun altro uomo si è coricato con te e se non ti sei traviata rendendoti impura con un altro mentre appartieni a tuo marito, sii tu dimostrata innocente da quest’acqua di amarezza, che porta maledizione.	19 "The priest will then put the woman on oath. He will say to her: If it is not true that a man has sleptwith you, that you have gone astray and made yourself unclean while under your husband's authority, may thiswater of bitterness and cursing do you no harm.
20 Ma se ti sei traviata con un altro mentre appartieni a tuo marito e ti sei resa impura e un altro uomo ha avuto rapporti con te, all’infuori di tuo marito...,	20 But if it is true that you have gone astray while under your husband's authority, that you have madeyourself unclean and that a man other than your husband has slept with you . . .
21 a questo punto il sacerdote farà giurare la donna con un’imprecazione e il sacerdote dirà alla donna: Il Signore faccia di te un oggetto di maledizione e di imprecazione in mezzo al tuo popolo, facendoti lui, il Signore, avvizzire i fianchi e gonfiare il ventre;	21 Here the priest wil impose an imprecatory oath on the woman. He wil say to her: . . . May Yahwehmake you the object of your people's execration and curses, by making your sexual organs shrivel and your bel yswel !
22 quest’acqua che porta maledizione ti entri nelle viscere per farti gonfiare il ventre e avvizzire i fianchi! E la donna dirà: Amen, Amen!	22 May this water of cursing entering your bowels, make your belly swell and your sexual organs shrivel!To which the woman will reply: Amen! Amen!
23 E il sacerdote scriverà queste imprecazioni su un documento e le cancellerà con l’acqua di amarezza.	23 "Having written these curses on a scrol and washed them off in the water of bitterness,
24 Farà bere alla donna quell’acqua di amarezza che porta maledizione e l’acqua che porta maledizione entrerà in lei per produrre amarezza.	24 the priest wil make the woman drink the water of bitterness and cursing; when the water of cursingenters into her, it wil become bitter.
25 Il sacerdote prenderà dalle mani della donna l’oblazione di gelosia, presenterà l’oblazione con il rito di elevazione davanti al Signore e l’accosterà all’altare.	25 "The priest will then take the cereal offering for a case of suspicion from the woman's hands, and holdit up before Yahweh with a gesture of offering, and so carry it up to the altar.
26 Il sacerdote prenderà una manciata di quell’oblazione come suo memoriale e la farà bruciare sull’altare; poi farà bere l’acqua alla donna.	26 He will take a handful of it as a memorial and burn it on the altar. "After this, he wil make the woman drink the water.
27 Quando le avrà fatto bere l’acqua, se lei si è contaminata e ha commesso un’infedeltà contro suo marito, l’acqua che porta maledizione entrerà in lei per produrre amarezza; il ventre le si gonfierà e i suoi fianchi avvizziranno e quella donna diventerà un oggetto d’imprecazione all’interno del suo popolo.	27 After he has made her drink it, if it is true that she has made herself unclean and been unfaithful toher husband, the water of cursing then entering into her wil indeed be bitter: her bel y wil swel and her sexualorgans shrivel, and she wil be an object of execration to her people.
28 Ma se la donna non si è resa impura ed è quindi pura, sarà dimostrata innocente e sarà feconda.	28 But if she has not made herself unclean, but is clean, then she will go unscathed and wil bearchildren.
29 Questa è la legge della gelosia, nel caso in cui una donna si sia traviata con un altro mentre appartiene al marito e si sia resa impura,	29 "Such is the ritual in cases of suspicion, when a woman has gone astray and made herself uncleanwhile under her husband's authority,
30 e nel caso in cui uno spirito di gelosia si impadronisca del marito e questi sia divenuto geloso della moglie; egli farà comparire sua moglie davanti al Signore e il sacerdote le applicherà questa legge integralmente.	30 or when a spirit of suspicion has come over a man and made him suspicious of his wife. When ahusband brings such a woman before Yahweh, the priest will apply this ritual to her in full.
31 Il marito sarà immune da colpa, ma la donna porterà la propria colpa”».	31 The husband wil be guiltless, but the woman wil bear the consequences of her guilt." '
