BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Nell’anno diciassettesimo di Pekach, figlio di Romelia, divenne re Acaz, figlio di Iotam, re di Giuda.	1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah son of Remaliah, Ahaz son of Jotham became king of Judah.
2 Quando Acaz divenne re, aveva vent’anni; regnò sedici anni a Gerusalemme. Non fece ciò che è retto agli occhi del Signore, suo Dio, come Davide, suo padre.	2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem.He did not do what Yahweh his God regards as right, as his ancestor David had done.
3 Seguì la via dei re d’Israele; fece perfino passare per il fuoco suo figlio, secondo gli abomini delle nazioni che il Signore aveva scacciato davanti agli Israeliti.	3 He followed the example of the kings of Israel, even causing his son to pass through the fire ofsacrifice, also copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahweh had dispossessed for the Israelites.
4 Sacrificava e bruciava incenso sulle alture, sui colli e sotto ogni albero verde.	4 He offered sacrifices and incense on the high places, on the hil s and under every luxuriant tree.
5 Allora Resin, re di Aram, e Pekach, figlio di Romelia, re d’Israele, salirono per combattere contro Gerusalemme; strinsero d’assedio Acaz, ma non poterono attaccare battaglia.	5 Then it was that Razon king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, launched theircampaign against Jerusalem. They besieged it but could not reduce it.
6 In quel tempo Resin, re di Aram, recuperò Elat ad Aram ed espulse i Giudei da Elat; poi gli Edomiti entrarono in Elat e vi si sono stabiliti fino ad oggi.	6 (At that time, the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom; he drove the Judaeans out of Elath, and theEdomites occupied it and have been there ever since.)
7 Acaz mandò messaggeri a Tiglat-Pilèser, re d’Assiria, per dirgli: «Io sono tuo servo e tuo figlio; sali e salvami dalla mano del re di Aram e dalla mano del re d’Israele, che sono insorti contro di me».	7 Ahaz then sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria to say, 'I am your servant and your son.Come and rescue me from the king of Aram and the king of Israel who are making war on me.'
8 Acaz, preso l’argento e l’oro che si trovava nel tempio del Signore e nei tesori della reggia, lo mandò in dono al re d’Assiria.	8 And Ahaz took what silver and gold was to be found in the Temple of Yahweh and in the palacetreasury, and sent this as a present to the king of Assyria.
9 Il re d’Assiria lo ascoltò e salì a Damasco e la prese, ne deportò la popolazione a Kir e fece morire Resin.	9 The king of Assyria granted his request and, marching on Damascus, captured it; he deported itspopulation to Kir and put Razon to death.
10 Il re Acaz andò incontro a Tiglat-Pilèser, re d’Assiria, a Damasco e, visto l’altare che si trovava a Damasco, il re Acaz mandò al sacerdote Uria il disegno dell’altare e il suo modello con tutta la sua lavorazione.	10 When King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, he saw the altar whichwas in Damascus. King Ahaz then sent a picture and model of the altar, with details of its construction, to Uriahthe priest.
11 Il sacerdote Uria costruì l’altare, conformemente a tutte le indicazioni che il re aveva inviato da Damasco; il sacerdote Uria fece così, prima che tornasse Acaz da Damasco.	11 Uriah the priest constructed the altar; al the instructions sent by King Ahaz from Damascus werecarried out by Uriah the priest before King Ahaz returned from Damascus.
12 Arrivato da Damasco, il re si avvicinò all’altare e vi salì,	12 When the king arrived from Damascus, he inspected the altar, he approached it and ascended it.
13 bruciò sull’altare il suo olocausto e la sua offerta, versò la sua libagione e sparse il sangue dei sacrifici di comunione a lui spettanti.	13 And on the altar he made his burnt offering and his oblation; he poured out his libation and sprinkledthe blood of his communion sacrifices.
14 Spostò l’altare di bronzo, che era di fronte al Signore, dalla facciata del tempio, dal luogo tra l’altare e il tempio del Signore, e lo pose al fianco dell’altare verso settentrione.	14 The altar which used to stand before Yahweh he removed from the front of the Temple, where it hadstood between the new altar and the Temple of Yahweh, and placed it at the north side of the new altar.
15 Il re Acaz ordinò al sacerdote Uria: «Sull’altare grande brucerai l’olocausto del mattino, l’offerta della sera, l’olocausto del re e la sua offerta, l’olocausto di tutto il popolo della terra, la sua offerta e le sue libagioni; su di esso spargerai tutto il sangue degli olocausti e tutto il sangue dei sacrifici. Dell’altare di bronzo mi occuperò io».	15 King Ahaz gave this order to Uriah the priest, 'In future you wil present the morning burnt offering, theevening oblation, the king's burnt offering and oblation, the burnt offering, the oblation and the libations of al thepeople of the country on the large altar; on it you will pour out al the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices.As regards the bronze altar, I shal see to that.'
16 Il sacerdote Uria fece quanto aveva ordinato il re Acaz.	16 Uriah the priest did everything that King Ahaz had ordered.
17 Il re Acaz tagliò a pezzi le traverse dei carrelli e tolse da esse i bacini. Fece scendere il Mare dai buoi di bronzo che lo sostenevano e lo collocò sul pavimento di pietre.	17 King Ahaz broke up the wheeled stands; removed the crosspieces and the basins from them, andtook the bronze Sea off the oxen supporting it, and rested it on the stone pavement.
18 A causa del re d’Assiria egli rimosse dal tempio del Signore il portico del sabato, che era stato costruito nel tempio, e l’ingresso esterno del re.	18 And from the Temple of Yahweh, in deference to the king of Assyria, he removed the dais for thethrone which had been built inside, and the royal entrance on the outside.
19 Le altre gesta che compì Acaz non sono forse descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?	19 The rest of the history of Ahaz, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?
20 Acaz si addormentò con i suoi padri, fu sepolto con i suoi padri nella Città di Davide e al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Ezechia.	20 Then Ahaz fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David; his son Hezekiahsucceeded him.
