1 Parole di Lemuèl, re di Massa, che sua madre gli insegnò.	1 The words of king Lamuel. The vision wherewith his mother instructed him.
2 E che, figlio mio! E che, figlio delle mie viscere! E che, figlio dei miei voti!	2 What, O my beloved, what, O the beloved of my womb, what, O the beloved of my vows?
3 Non dare il tuo vigore alle donne, né i tuoi costumi a quelle che corrompono i re.	3 Give not thy substance to women, and thy riches to destroy kings.
4 Non conviene ai re, Lemuèl, non conviene ai re bere il vino, né ai principi bramare bevande inebrianti,	4 Give not to kings, O Lamuel, give not wine to kings: because there is no secret where drunkenness reigneth:
5 per paura che, bevendo, dimentichino i loro decreti e tradiscano il diritto di tutti gli afflitti.	5 And lest they drink and forget judgments, and pervert the cause of the children of the poor.
6 Date bevande inebrianti a chi sta per perire e il vino a chi ha l'amarezza nel cuore.	6 Give strong drink to them that are sad: and wine to them that are grieved in mind:
7 Beva e dimentichi la sua povertà e non si ricordi più delle sue pene.	7 Let them drink, and forget their want, and remember their sorrow no more.
8 Apri la bocca in favore del muto in difesa di tutti gli sventurati.	8 Open thy mouth for the dumb, and for the causes of all the children that pass.
9 Apri la bocca e giudica con equità e rendi giustizia all'infelice e al povero.	9 Open thy mouth, decree that which is just, and do justice to the needy and poor.
10 (Alef) Una donna perfetta chi potrà trovarla? Ben superiore alle perle è il suo valore.	10 Who shall find a valiant woman? far and from the uttermost coasts is the price of her.
11 (Bet) In lei confida il cuore del marito e non verrà a mancargli il profitto.	11 The heart of her husband trusteth in her, and he shall have no need of spoils.
12 (Ghimel) Essa gli dà felicità e non dispiacere per tutti i giorni della sua vita.	12 She will render him good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
13 (Dalet) Si procura lana e lino e li lavora volentieri con le mani.	13 She hath sought wool and flax, and hath wrought by the counsel of her hands.
14 (He) Ella è simile alle navi di un mercante, fa venire da lontano le provviste.	14 She is like the merchant's ship, she bringeth her bread from afar.
15 (Vau) Si alza quando ancora è notte e prepara il cibo alla sua famiglia e dà ordini alle sue domestiche.	15 And she hath risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and victuals to her maidens.
16 (Zain) Pensa ad un campo e lo compra e con il frutto delle sue mani pianta una vigna.	16 She hath considered a field, and bought it: with the fruit of her hands she hath planted a vineyard.
17 (Het) Si cinge con energia i fianchi e spiega la forza delle sue braccia.	17 She hath girded her loins with strength, and hath strengthened her arm.
18 (Tet) È soddisfatta, perché il suo traffico va bene, neppure di notte si spegne la sua lucerna.	18 She hath tasted and seen that her traffic is good: her lamp shall not be put out in the night.
19 (Iod) Stende la sua mano alla conocchia e mena il fuso con le dita.	19 She hath put out her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.
20 (Caf) Apre le sue mani al misero, stende la mano al povero.	20 She hath opened her hand to the needy, and stretched out her hands to the poor.
21 (Lamed) Non teme la neve per la sua famiglia, perché tutti i suoi di casa hanno doppia veste.	21 She shall not fear for her house in the cold of snow: for dl her domestics are clothed with double garments.
22 (Mem) Si fa delle coperte, di lino e di porpora sono le sue vesti.	22 She hath made for herself clothing of tapestry: fine linen, and purple is her covering.
23 (Nun) Suo marito è stimato alle porte della città dove siede con gli anziani del paese.	23 Her husband is honourable in the gates, when he sitteth among the senators of the land.
24 (Samech) Confeziona tele di lino e le vende e fornisce cinture al mercante.	24 She made fine linen, and sold it, end delivered a girdle to the Chanaanite.
25 (Ain) Forza e decoro sono il suo vestito e se la ride dell'avvenire.	25 Strength and beauty are her clothing, and she shall laugh in the latter day.
26 (Pe) Apre la bocca con saggezza e sulla sua lingua c'è dottrina di bontà.	26 She hath opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.
27 (Sade) Sorveglia l'andamento della casa; il pane che mangia non è frutto di pigrizia.	27 She hath looked well to the paths of her house, and hath not eaten her bread idle.
28 (Kof) I suoi figli sorgono a proclamarla beata e suo marito a farne l'elogio:	28 Her children rose up, and called her blessed: her husband, and he praised her.
29 (Res) "Molte figlie hanno compiuto cose eccellenti, ma tu le hai superate tutte!".	29 Many daughters have gathered together riches: thou hast surpassed them all.
30 (Sin) Fallace è la grazia e vana è la bellezza, ma la donna che teme Dio è da lodare.	30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: the woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 (Tau) Datele del frutto delle sue mani e le sue stesse opere la lodino alle porte della città.	31 Give her of the fruit of her hands: and let her works praise her in the gates.
