1 El hombre que, reprendido, endurece la cerviz, será pronto deshecho y sin remedio.	1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.
2 Cuando los justos se multiplican, el pueblo se alegra, cuando dominan los malos, el pueblo gime.	2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 El que ama la sabiduría, da alegría a su padre, el que anda con prostitutas, disipa su fortuna.	3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.
4 El rey, con la equidad, mantiene el país, el hombre exactor lo arruina.	4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.
5 El hombre que adula a su prójimo pone una red bajo sus pasos.	5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.
6 En el pecado del malo hay una trampa, pero el justo se regocija y alegra.	6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.
7 El justo conoce la causa de los débiles, el malo no tiene inteligencia para conocerla.	7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.
8 Los arrogantes turban la ciudad, los sabios alejan la cólera.	8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.
9 Cuando el sabio tiene un pleito con el necio, ya se exaspere o se ría, no logrará sosiego.	9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.
10 Los hombres sanguinarios odian al intachable, los rectos van en busca de su persona.	10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.
11 El necio da salida a toda su pasión; el sabio la reprime y apacigua.	11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.
12 Si un jefe hace caso de las palabras mentirosas, todos sus servidores serán malos.	12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.
13 El pobre y el opresor se encuentran, Yahveh da la luz a los ojos de ambos.	13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
14 El rey que juzga con verdad a los débiles, asegura su trono para siempre.	14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.
15 Vara y reprensión dan sabiduría, muchacho dejado a sí mismo, avergüenza a su madre.	15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.
16 Cuando se multiplican los malos, se multiplican los delitos, pero los justos contemplarán su caída.	16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.
17 Corrige a tu hijo y te dejará tranquilo; y hará las delicias de tu alma.	17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.
18 Cuando no hay visiones, el pueblo se relaja, pero el que guarda la ley es dichoso.	18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.
19 No se corrige a un siervo con palabras, porque aunque las entienda, no las cumple.	19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.
20 ¿Has visto un hombre dispuesto siempre a hablar? más se puede esperar de un necio que de él.	20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!
21 Si se mima a un esclavo desde niño, al final será un ingrato.	21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.
22 El hombre violento provoca querellas, el hombre airado multiplica los delitos.	22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.
23 El orgullo del pobre lo humillará; el humilde de espíritu obtendrá honores.	23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.
24 El que reparte con ladrón se odia a sí mismo, oye la imprecación, pero no revela nada.	24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.
25 Temblar ante los hombres es un lazo; el que confía en Yahveh está seguro.	25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.
26 Son muchos los que buscan el favor del jefe, pero es Yahveh el que juzga a cada uno.	26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.
27 Abominación para los justos es el hombre inicuo abominación para el malo el de recto camino.	27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
