Lettera agli Efesini 6

NOVA VULGATA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Filii, oboedite parentibus vestris in Domino; hoc enim est iu stum.	1 Children, be obedient to your parents in the Lord -- that is what uprightness demands.
2 Honora patrem tuum et matrem, quod est mandatum primum cum promissione,	2 The first commandment that has a promise attached to it is: Honour your father and your mother,
3 utbene sit tibi, et sis longaevus super terram.	3 and the promise is: so that you may have long life and prosper in the land.
4 Et, patres, nolite ad iracundiamprovocare filios vestros, sed educate illos in disciplina et correptione Domini.	4 And parents, never drive your children to resentment but bring them up with correction and adviceinspired by the Lord.
5 Servi, oboedite dominis carnalibus cum timore et tremore, in simplicitatecordis vestri, sicut Christo;	5 Slaves, be obedient to those who are, according to human reckoning, your masters, with deep respectand sincere loyalty, as you are obedient to Christ:
6 non ad oculum servientes, quasi hominibusplacentes, sed ut servi Christi facientes voluntatem Dei ex animo;	6 not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please human beings, but as slaves ofChrist who wholeheartedly do the wil of God.
7 cum bonavoluntate servientes, sicut Domino et non hominibus,	7 Work wil ingly for the sake of the Lord and not for the sake of human beings.
8 scientes quoniamunusquisque, si quid fecerit bonum, hoc percipiet a Domino, sive servus siveliber.	8 Never forget that everyone, whether a slave or a free man, wil be rewarded by the Lord for whateverwork he has done wel .
9 Et, domini, eadem facite illis, remittentes minas, scientes quia et illorum etvester Dominus est in caelis, et personarum acceptio non est apud eum.	9 And those of you who are employers, treat your slaves in the same spirit; do without threats, and neverforget that they and you have the same Master in heaven and there is no favouritism with him.
10 De cetero confortamini in Domino et in potentia virtutis eius.	10 Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.
