NOVA VULGATANEW JERUSALEM
Et cum transisset sabbatum, Maria Magdalene et Maria Iacobi et Salomeemerunt aromata, ut venientes ungerent eum.1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spiceswith which to go and anoint him.
Et valde mane, prima sabbatorum, veniunt ad monumentum, orto iam sole.2 And very early in the morning on the first day of the week they went to the tomb when the sun hadrisen.
”.3 They had been saying to one another, 'Who wil rol away the stone for us from the entrance to thetomb?'
Et respicientes videntrevolutum lapidem; erat quippe magnus valde.4 But when they looked they saw that the stone -- which was very big -- had already been rol ed back.
Et introeuntes in monumentumviderunt iuvenem sedentem in dextris, coopertum stola candida, et obstupuerunt.5 On entering the tomb they saw a young man in a white robe seated on the right-hand side, and theywere struck with amazement.
Qui dicit illis: “ Nolite expavescere! Iesum quaeritis Nazarenum crucifixum.Surrexit, non est hic; ecce locus, ubi posuerunt eum.6 But he said to them, 'There is no need to be so amazed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, whowas crucified: he has risen, he is not here. See, here is the place where they laid him.
Ibi eum videbitis, sicut dixit vobis” ”.7 But you must go and tel his disciples and Peter, "He is going ahead of you to Galilee; that is where you wil see him, just as he told you." '
And the women came out and ran away from the tomb because they were frightened out of their wits;and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
Surgens autem mane, prima sabbati, apparuit primo Mariae Magdalenae, de quaeiecerat septem daemonia.9 Having risen in the morning on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary of Magdala fromwhom he had cast out seven devils.
Illa vadens nuntiavit his, qui cum eo fuerant, lugentibus et flentibus;10 She then went to those who had been his companions, and who were mourning and in tears, andtold them.
et illi audientes quia viveret et visus esset ab ea,non crediderunt.11 But they did not believe her when they heard her say that he was alive and that she had seen him.
Post haec autem duobus ex eis ambulantibus ostensus est inalia effigie euntibus in villam;12 After this, he showed himself under another form to two of them as they were on their way into thecountry.
et illi euntes nuntiaverunt ceteris, necillis crediderunt.
These went back and told the others, who did not believe them either.
Novissime recumbentibus illis Undecim apparuit, et exprobravit incredulitatemillorum et duritiam cordis, quia his, qui viderant eum resuscitatum, noncrediderant.14 Lastly, he showed himself to the Eleven themselves while they were at table. He reproached them fortheir incredulity and obstinacy, because they had refused to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
Et dixit eis: “ Euntes in mundum universum praedicateevangelium omni creaturae.15 And he said to them, 'Go out to the whole world; proclaim the gospel to al creation.
Qui crediderit et baptizatus fuerit, salvus erit;qui vero non crediderit, condemnabitur.16 Whoever believes and is baptised wil be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Signa autem eos, qui crediderint,haec sequentur: in nomine meo daemonia eicient, linguis loquentur novis,17 These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they wil cast out devils; theywil have the gift of tongues;
they wil pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they wil laytheir hands on the sick, who wil recover.'
And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven; there at the righthand of God he took his place,
while they, going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word bythe signs that accompanied it.
