1 Locutusque est Dominus ad Moysen dicens: | 1 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said, |
2 “ Ecce voca vi ex nomine Beseleel filium Uri filii Hur de tribu Iudae | 2 'Look, I have singled out Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, |
3 et implevi eum spiritu Dei, sapientia et intellegentia et scientia in omni opere | 3 and have filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, knowledge and skil in every kind of craft: |
4 ad excogitandum, quidquid fabrefieri potest ex auro et argento et aere, | 4 in designing and carrying out work in gold and silver and bronze, |
5 ad scindendum et includendum gemmas et ad sculpendum ligna, ad faciendum omne opus; | 5 in cutting stones to be set, in wood carving and in executing every kind of work. |
6 dedique ei socium Ooliab filium Achisamech de tribu Dan et in corde omnis eruditi posui sapientiam, ut faciant cuncta, quae praecepi tibi: | 6 And to help him I have given him Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, and have endowedthe hearts of al the skilled men with the skil to make everything I have ordered you: |
7 tabernaculum conventus et arcam testimonii et propitiatorium, quod super eam est, et cuncta vasa tabernaculi | 7 the Tent of Meeting; the ark of the Testimony; the mercy-seat above it; and all the furniture of the tent; |
8 mensamque et vasa eius, candelabrum purissimum cum vasis suis et altaria thymiamatis | 8 the table and al its accessories; the pure lamp-stand and al its equipment; the altar of incense; |
9 et holocausti et omnia vasa eorum, labrum cum basi sua | 9 the altar of burnt offerings and al its accessories; the basin and its stand; |
10 et vestes textas et vestes sanctas Aaron sacerdoti et vestes filiorum eius, ut fungantur officio suo in sacris, | 10 the liturgical vestments, the sacred vestments for Aaron the priest, and the vestments for his sons,for their priestly functions; |
11 oleum unctionis et thymiama aromatum in sanctuario: omnia, quae praecepi tibi, facient ”.
| 11 the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the sanctuary. They wil do everything as I have orderedyou.' |
12 Et locutus est Dominus ad Moysen dicens: | 12 Yahweh then said to Moses, |
13 “ Loquere filiis Israel et dices ad eos: Videte ut sabbatum meum custodiatis, quia signum est inter me et vos in generationibus vestris, ut sciatis quia ego Dominus, qui sanctifico vos. | 13 'Speak to the Israelites and say, "You wil keep my Sabbaths properly, for this is a sign betweenmyself and you for all your generations to come, so that you will know that it is I, Yahweh, who sanctify you. |
14 Custodite sabbatum, sanctum est enim vobis. Qui polluerit illud, morte morietur; qui fecerit in eo opus, peribit anima illius de medio populi sui. | 14 You wil keep the Sabbath, then; you wil regard it as holy. Anyone who profanes it wil be put todeath; anyone who does any work on that day wil be outlawed from his people. |
15 Sex diebus facietis opus; in die septimo sabbatum est, requies sancta Domino: omnis, qui fecerit opus in hac die, morietur. | 15 Work must be done for six days, but the seventh day wil be a day of complete rest, consecrated toYahweh. Anyone who works on the Sabbath day wil be put to death. |
16 Custodiant filii Israel sabbatum et celebrent illud in generationibus suis: pactum est sempiternum | 16 The Israelites wil keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath for all their generations to come: this isan eternal covenant. |
17 inter me et filios Israel signumque perpetuum; sex enim diebus fecit Dominus caelum et terram et in septimo ab opere cessavit et respiravit ”.
| 17 Between myself and the Israelites, this is a sign for ever, for in six days Yahweh made heaven andearth, but on the seventh day he rested and drew breath." |
18 Deditque Dominus Moysi, completis huiuscemodi sermonibus in monte Sinai, duas tabulas testimonii lapideas scriptas digito Dei.
| 18 When he had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of theTestimony, tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. |
