1 Or Gesù, ripieno di Spirito Santo, si partì dal Giordano, e fu condotto dallo Spirito nel deserto,	1 And Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan. And he was urged by the Spirit into the wilderness
2 dove per quaranta giorni fu tentato dal ddiavolo. E in quei giorni non mangiò niente, ma al loro termine ebbe fame.	2 for forty days, and he was tested by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days. And when they were completed, he was hungry.
3 Allora il diavolo gli disse: Se tu sei Figlio di Dio, dì a questa pietra che diventi pane.	3 Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, speak to this stone, so that it may be made into bread.”
4 E Gesù gli rispose: Sta scritto: L'uomo non vive soltanto di pane, ma di ogni parola di Dio.	4 And Jesus answered him, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”
5 E il diavolo lo portò su un alto monte, e mostrandogli in un attimo tutti i regni della terra,	5 And the devil led him onto a high mountain, and he showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,
6 gli disse: Io ti darò tutta questa potenza e la gloria di questi regni, che a me sono stati dati e li dò a chi voglio:	6 and he said to him: “To you, I will give all this power, and its glory. For they have been handed over to me, and I give them to whomever I wish.
7 se tu dunque, ti prostri ad adorarmi, sarà tutto tuo:	7 Therefore, if you will worship before me, all will be yours.”
8 E Gesù rispose: Sta scritto: Adorerai il Signore Dio tuo e servirai a Lui solo.	8 And in response, Jesus said to him: “It is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him alone.’ ”
9 E il diavolo lo menò a Gerusalemme e, posatolo sul pinnacolo del tempio, gli disse: Se tu sei figlio di Dio, gettati di sotto,	9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and he set him on the parapet of the temple, and he said to him: “If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here.
10 perché sta scritto: Che egli ha ordinato ai suoi Angeli di proteggerti,	10 For it is written that he has given his Angels charge over you, so that they may guard you,
11 ed essi ti sosterranno colle loro mani, affinchè non urti il piede in qualche sasso.	11 and so that they may take you into their hands, lest perhaps you may hurt your foot against a stone.”
12 Ma Gesù rispose: E' stato detto: Non tentare il Signore Dio tuo.	12 And in response, Jesus said to him, “It is said: ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”
13 E il diavolo, finito che ebbe dì tentarlo in ogni maniera, si allontanò da lui per un corto tempo.	13 And when all the temptation was completed, the devil withdrew from him, until a time.
14 E Gesù, per impulso dello Spirito, ritornò in Galilea, e la sua fama si sparse por tutti i dintorni.	14 And Jesus returned, in the power of the Spirit, into Galilee. And his fame spread throughout the entire region.
15 E prese ad insegnare nelle loro sinagoghe, acclamato da tutti.	15 And he taught in their synagogues, and he was magnified by everyone.
16 E andò a Nazaret, dve era stato allevato, ed entrò secondo il suo costume, di sabato, nella sinagoga e si alzò per leggere.	16 And he went to Nazareth, where he had been raised. And he entered into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the Sabbath day. And he rose up to read.
17 Or gli fu dato il libro del profeta Isaia; ed egli, aperto il libro, trovò quel passo dov'è scritto:	17 And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. And as he unrolled the book, he found the place where it was written:
18 Lo Spirito del Signore è sopra di me, per questo mi ha consacrato per annunziare ai poveri la buona novella: mi ha mandato a sanare i contriti di cuore;	18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because of this, he has anointed me. He has sent me to evangelize the poor, to heal the contrite of heart,
19 ad annunziare la liberazione ai prigionieri e vista ai ciechi; a rimettere in libertà gli oppressi, a predicare l'anno accettevole del Signore ed il giorno della retribuzione.	19 to preach forgiveness to captives and sight to the blind, to release the broken into forgiveness, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of retribution.”
20 Poi, chuso il libro e resolo all'inserviente, sedette, e nella sinagoga tutti gli occhi erano fissi in lui.	20 And when he had rolled up the book, he returned it to the minister, and he sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.
21 Ed egli prese a dir loro: Oggi questa scrittura è adempita, e voi l'udite.	21 Then he began to say to them, “On this day, this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
22 E tutti ne parlavano bene e pieni di meraviglia per le parole di grazia che uscivano dalla sua bocca, dicevano: Non è egli il figliolo di Giuseppe?	22 And everyone gave testimony to him. And they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth. And they said, “Is this not the son of Joseph?”
23 E Gesù disse loro: Certamente mi direte quel poverbio: medico, cura te stesso; quanto udimmo essere avvenuto in Cafarnao, fallo anche qui nella tua patria.	23 And he said to them: “Certainly, you will recite to me this saying, ‘Physician, heal yourself.’ The many great things that we have heard were done in Capernaum, do here also in your own country.”
24 E soggiunse: In verità vi dico, nessun profeta è bene accetto nella sua patria.	24 Then he said: “Amen I say to you, that no prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 E ancor vi dico in verità che molte eran le vedove in Israele al tempo di Elia, quando il cielo stette chiuso per tre anni e sei mesi, e vi fu gran carestia per tutta la terra;	25 In truth, I say to you, there were many widows in the days of Elijah in Israel, when the heavens were closed for three years and six months, when a great famine had occurred throughout the entire land.
26 eppure e, nessuna di esse fu mandato Elia, ma ad una vedova in Sarepta, di Sidone;	26 And to none of these was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
27 o che erano in Israele molti lebbrosi al tempo d'Eliseo profeta; eppure non fu mondato che Naaman, un siro.	27 And there were many lepers in Israel under the prophet Elisha. And none of these was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian.”
28 Nell'udire queste cose tutti nella foga, furono pieni di sdegno,	28 And all those in the synagogue, upon hearing these things, were filled with anger.
29 e levatisi, lo cacciarono fuori dalla città, e lo menarono fino sul ciglio del monte, su cui era edificata la loro città, per gettarlo di sotto.	29 And they rose up and drove him beyond the city. And they brought him all the way to the edge of the mount, upon which their city had been built, so that they might thrown him down violently.
30 Ma egli, passando in mezzo a loro, se ne andò.	30 But passing through their midst, he went away.
31 E scese in Cafarnao città della Galilea, e vi ammaestrava nei sabati.	31 And he descended to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And there he taught them on the Sabbaths.
32 E stupivan della sua dottrina, perché parlava con autorità.	32 And they were astonished at his doctrine, for his word was spoken with authority.
33 Ora nella Sinagoga c'era un posseduto da uno spirito immondo il quale si mise a gridare forte:	33 And in the synagogue, there was a man who had an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,
34 Lasciami in pace, che abbiam da fare con te, o Gesù Nazareno? Sei venuto a sterminarci? Sò chi tu sei: il Santo di Dio.	34 saying: “Let us alone. What are we to you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God.”
35 e Gesù lo sgridò e gli disse: Taci, ed esci da costui. E il demonio, gettatolo per terra, in mezzo, ne uscì, senza fargli alcun male.	35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and depart from him.” And when the demon had thrown him into their midst, he departed from him, and he no longer harmed him.
36 E tutti, invasi dallo spavento, parlavan fra di loro dicendo: E che vuol dire mai questo? Egli comanda con autorità e potenza agli spiriti immondi e se ne fuggono.	36 And fear fell over them all. And they discussed this among themselves, saying: “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they depart.”
37 E la fama di lui si spargeva per ogni dove della regione.	37 And his fame spread to every place in the region.
38 Gesù, uscito dalla sinagoga, entrò nella casa di Simone. Or la suocera di Simone era stata presa da violenta febbre; e gliela raccomandarono.	38 Then Jesus, rising up from the synagogue, entered into the house of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in the grip of a severe fever. And they petitioned him on her behalf.
39 Egli chinatosi verso di lei, comandò alia febbre e ne fu liberata; e alzatasi sull'stante, si mise a servirli.	39 And standing over her, he commanded the fever, and it left her. And promptly rising up, she ministered to them.
40 Tramontato poi il sole, quanti avevan infermi di varie malattie li portavano a lui. Ed egli, imposte a ciascuno le mani, li risanava.	40 Then, when the sun had set, all those who had anyone afflicted with various diseases brought them to him. Then, laying his hands on each one of them, he cured them.
41 E da molti uscivano dei demoni gridando e dicendo: sei il Figlio di Dio. Ma egli li sgridava e non lasciava dire loro di sapere che lui era il Cristo.	41 Now demons departed from many of them, crying out and saying, “You are the son of God.” And rebuking them, he would not permit them to speak. For they knew him to be the Christ.
42 E, fattosi giorno, uscì per andare in luogo deserto; ma le turbe, andate a cercarlo, giunsero fino a lui e lo volevano trattenere, perché non partisse da loro.	42 Then, when it was daytime, going out, he went to a deserted place. And the crowds sought him, and they went all the way to him. And they detained him, so that he would not depart from them.
43 Ma egli disse: Bisogna che annunzi anche alle altre città la buona novella del regno di Dio; essendo stato mandato appunto per questo.	43 And he said to them, “I must also preach the kingdom of God to other cities, because it was for this reason that I was sent.”
44 E andava predicando per le sinagoghe di Galilea.	44 And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
