BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il sommo sacerdote Eliasib e i suoi fratelli sacerdoti, levatisi, costruirono la porta del gregge; poi la consacrarono e vi misero i battenti. Essi la consacrarono (la muraglia) fino alla torre dei cento cubiti, e fino alla torre di Ananeel.	1 Eliashib the high priest with his brother priests then set to work and rebuilt the Sheep Gate; they madethe framework, hung its doors, fixed its bolts and bars and proceeded as far as the Tower of the Hundred andthe Tower of Hananel.
2 Accanto a loro costruirono gli uomini di Gerico, accanto ai quali costruì Zaeur, figlio di Amri.	2 The men of Jericho built next to him; Zaccur son of Imri built next to them.
3 I figli di Asnaa costruirono la porta dei pesci, che essi stessi coprirono, e vi misero i battenti, le serrature e le sbarre. Accanto a loro costruì Marimut figlio di Uria figlio di Aceus,	3 The sons of Ha-Senaah rebuilt the Fish Gate; they made the framework, hung its doors and fixed itsbolts and bars.
4 accanto al quale costruì Mosollam figlio di Barachia figlio di Mesezebel, e accanto a loro costruì Sadoc figlio di Baana.	4 Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, carried out repairs next to them; Meshul am son of Berechiah,son of Meshezabel, carried out repairs next to him; and Zadok son of Baana carried out repairs next to him.
5 Accanto a questi costruirono i Tecuiti, ma i loro principali non piegarono il loro collo nell'opera del loro Signore.	5 The men of Tekoa carried out repairs next to him, though their nobles would not demean themselves tohelp their masters.
6 La porta vecchia la costruirono Ioiada figlio di Fasea e Mosollam figlio di Besodia: essi stessi la coprirono e vi posero i battenti, le serrature e le sbarre.	6 Joiada son of Paseah and Meshul am son of Besodeiah repaired the gate of the New Quarter; theymade the framework, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.
7 Accanto a loro costruirono Mei i a Gabaonita e Iadon di Meronat, uomini di Gabaon e di Masfa, per il capo che era nel paese di là dal fiume.	7 Next to them repairs were carried out by Melatiah of Gibeon, Jadon of Meronoth, and the men ofGibeon and Mizpah, for the sake of the governor of Transeuphrates.
8 Accanto a loro costruì Eziel figlio di Arala orefice, accanto al quale costruì Anania figlio del profumiere. Lasciarono (le mura di) Gerusalemme fino al muro della piazza maggiore.	8 Next to them repairs were carried out by Uzziel son of Harhaiah, a member of the metal-workers' guild,and next to him repairs were carried out by Hananiah of the perfumers' guild. These renovated the wall ofJerusalem as far as the Broad Wal .
9 Accanto a lui costruì Rafaia figlio di Hur, capo di un distretto di Gerusalemme;	9 Next to them repairs were carried out by Rephaiah son of Hur, who was head of one half of the districtof Jerusalem.
10 accanto a questi costruì Iedaia figlio di Aromaf, di faccia alla sua casa, e accanto a lui costruì Attus figlio di Asebonia.	10 Next to them Jedaiah son of Harumaph carried out repairs opposite his own house; next to him repairswere carried out by Hattush son of Hashabneiah.
11 Melchia, figlio di Erem, e Asub, figlio di FaatMoab, costruirono la metà d'un quartiere e la torre dei forni.	11 Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-Moab repaired another section as far as theFurnace Tower.

14 La porta del Letame la fece Melchia figlio di Recab, principe del distretto di Betacaram, e, edificatala, vi mise i battenti, le serrature e le sbarre.	14 Malchijah son of Rechab, head of the district of Beth-ha-Cherem, repaired the Dung Gate; he rebuilt it,hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars.
15 La porta della Fontana la costruì Sellum figlio di Coloza, principe del quartiere di Masfa: egli, edificatala, la coprì e vi pose i battenti, le serrature e le sbarrre, e fece le muraglie della piscina di Siloe fino all'orto del re e fino agli scalini che scendevano dalla città di David.	15 Shallum son of Col-Hozeh, head of the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate; he rebuilt it,roofed it, hung its doors and fixed its bolts and bars. He also rebuilt the wal of the Pool of Siloah, adjoining theking's garden, as far as the steps going down from the City of David.
16 Dopo di lui, Nehemia figlio di Azbuc, principe della metà del distretto di Betsur, costruì fino dirimpetto al sepolcro di David e fino alla piscina, costruita con grande lavoro, e fino alla casa dei forti.	16 After him, Nehemiah son of Azbuk, head of half the district of Beth-Zur, carried out repairs from a pointopposite the Davidic Tombs to the artificial pool and the House of the Champions.
17 Dopo di lui costruirono i leviti: Reum figlio di Bermi, dopo il quale costruì Asebia principe della metà del quartiere di Ceda, per il suo quartiere.	17 After him, repairs were carried out by the Levites: Rehum son of Bani; and next to him Hashabiah,head of one half of the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his own district.

20 Dopo di lui n'edificò sul monte un'altra sezione Darne figlio di Zacai, dall'angolo fino alla porta della casa di Eliasib sommo sacerdote.	20 After him, Baruch son of Zabbai repaired another section from the Angle to the door of the house ofEliashib the high priest.
21 Dopo di lui n'edificò un'altra sezione Merimut figlio di Uria figlio di Accus, dalla porta della casa di Eliasib, finché non terminava la casa di Eliasib.	21 After him, Meremoth son of Uriah, son of Hakkoz, repaired another section from the door of Eliashib'shouse as far as the end of Eliashib's house.
22 Dopo di lui costruirono i sacerdoti, gli uomini delle pianure del Giordano,	22 And after him repairs were carried out by the priests who lived in the district.
23 dopo i quali Beniamino e Asub costruirono di faccia alle loro case, e dopo di essi, di faccia alla sua casa, edificò Azaria tiglio di Maasia, figlio di Anania.	23 After them repairs were carried out by Benjamin and Hasshub, opposite their own house. After themrepairs were carried out by Azariah son of Maaseiah, son of Ananiah, beside his own house.
24 Dopo di lui edificò un'altra sezione Bennai figlio di Enadad, dalla casa di Azaria fino allo svolto e all'angolo.	24 After him, Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section from Azariah's house as far as the Angle atthe corner.
25 Falel figlio di Ozi costruì di faccia allo svolto e alla, torre alta sporgente fuori della casa del re, cioè nel cortile della prigione; e dopo di lui Fadaia figlio di Faros.	25 After him, Palal son of Uzai carried out repairs in front of the Angle and the tower projecting from theking's Upper Palace by the Court of the Guard; and after him, Pedaiah son of Parosh carried out the repairs
26 Or i Natinei abitavan sull'Ofel, fin dirimpetto alla porta delle acque, verso levante, e fino alla torre sporgente.	26 to a point by the Water Gate to the east and the projecting tower.
27 Dopo Fadaia edificarono un'altra sezione quelli di Tecua, dirimpetto alla gran torre sporgente fino alla muraglia del tempio.	27 After him, the men of Tekoa repaired another section from in front of the great projecting tower as faras the wal of Ophel.
28 Però al disopra della porta, dei cavalli edificarono i sacerdoti, ciascuno di faccia a casa sua.	28 From the Horse Gate onwards repairs were carried out by the priests, each in front of his own house.
29 Dopo di essi edificò, di faccia a casa sua, Sadoc figlio di Emmer, dopo il quale edificò Semaia figlio di Sechenia custode della porta orientale.	29 After them repairs were carried out by Zadok son of Immer in front of his house, and after him repairswere carried out by Shemaiah son of Shechaniah, keeper of the East Gate.
30 Dopo di lui edificarono un'altra sezione Anania figlio di Selernia e Anun sesto figlio di Selci. Dopo questi edificò Mosollam figlio di Barachia, di faccia al suo erario. Dopo di lui Melchia, figlio di un orefice, edificò sino alla casa dei Natinei e dei merciai, di faccia alla porta giudiziaria e fino alla sala alta dell'angolo.	30 After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah and Hanun sixth son of Zalaph repaired another section, afterwhom repairs were carried out by Meshul am son of Berechiah in front of his room.
31 Gli orefici e i mercanti edificarono tra la sala alta dall'angolo e. la porta del gregge.	31 After him Malchijah, of the metal-workers' guild, repaired as far as the Hal of the temple slaves andmerchants, in front of the Muster Gate, as far as the upper room at the corner.
	32 And between the upper room at the corner and the Sheep Gate repairs were carried out by thegoldsmiths and the merchants.
	33 When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wal , he became furiously angry.
	34 He ridiculed the Jews and in front of his kinsmen and the aristocracy of Samaria he exclaimed, 'Whatare these pathetic Jews doing . . . ? Are they going to give up? Or offer sacrifices? Or complete the work in aday? Can they put new life into stones taken from rubbish heaps and even charred?'
	35 And beside him Tobiah of Ammon remarked, 'If a jackal were to jump on what they are building, itwould knock their stone wal down!'
	36 Listen, our God, for we are despised! Make their sneers fal back on their own heads! Send them asbooty to a land of captivity!
	37 Do not pardon their wickedness, may their sin never be erased before you, for they have insulted thebuilders to their face!
	38 Meanwhile we were rebuilding the wal , which was soon joined up al the way round to mid-height; thepeople put their hearts into the work.
