Lettera agli Efesini 1

1 - Paolo, apostolo di Cristo Gesù per volontà di Dio, ai Santi che sono in Efeso e ai fedeli in Gesù Cristo;	1 Paul, an Apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, to all the saints who are at Ephesus and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
2 grazia a voi e pace da Dio Padre nostro e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Benedetto Iddio e Padre del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, il quale ci ha benedetti con ogni benedizione spirituale, celeste, in Cristo,	3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, in Christ,
4 in quanto ci ha eletti in Lui, prima della fondazione del mondo, a esser santi e irreprensibili nel suo cospetto, per amore	4 just as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy and immaculate in his sight, in charity.
5 avendoci predestinati a esser figli suoi adottivi per mezzo di Gesù Cristo, secondo la benignità del suo volere,	5 He has predestined us to adoption as sons, through Jesus Christ, in himself, according to the purpose of his will,
6 sì che ciò torni a lode della gloriosa manifestazione della grazia sua, di cui ci fece dono nel suo diletto Figliuolo.	6 for the praise of the glory of his grace, with which he has gifted us in his beloved Son.
7 In Lui noi abbiamo la redenzione per mezzo del suo sangue, la remissione dei peccati secondo la ricchezza della sua grazia,	7 In him, we have redemption through his blood: the remission of sins in accord with the riches of his grace,
8 di cui fu largo a noi in ogni sapienza e prudenza,	8 which is superabundant in us, with all wisdom and prudence.
9 facendoci conoscere il mistero della sua volontà secondo la benignità sua, volontà che Egli aveva in sè prestabilita,	9 So does he make known to us the mystery of his will, which he has set forth in Christ, in a manner well-pleasing to him,
10 per tradurla in atto nella pienezza dei tempi; e [il mistero consiste in questo]: cioè nell'instaurare tutte le cose in Cristo, sia le cose celesti sia le terrestri. In Cristo	10 in the dispensation of the fullness of time, so as to renew in Christ everything that exists through him in heaven and on earth.
11 nel quale siamo anche stati fatti eredi noi, predestinati a ciò secondo il proposito di Chi tutto agisce secondo il consiglio della propria volontà,	11 In him, we too are called to our portion, having been predestined in accord with the plan of the One who accomplishes all things by the counsel of his will.
12 sì che noi riusciamo a lode della sua gloria; noi che fin da prima abbiamo sperato in Cristo;	12 So may we be, to the praise of his glory, we who have hoped beforehand in Christ.
13 nel quale anche voi, udita la parola della verità, (la buona novella della salvezza nostra), avete riposto fede, e avete ricevuto l'impronta dello Spirito Santo della promessa,	13 In him, you also, after you heard and believed the Word of truth, which is the Gospel of your salvation, were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the Promise.
14 il quale è caparra della nostra eredità per la redenzione delle genti che egli fece sue a lode della sua gloria.	14 He is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the acquisition of redemption, to the praise of his glory.
15 Per questo ancor io, sentendo la fede vostra nel Signore Gesù e l'amore che portate a tutti i santi,	15 Because of this, and hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus, and of your love toward all the saints,
16 non cesso dal ringraziare per voi, facendo di voi menzione nelle mie preghiere,	16 I have not ceased giving thanks for you, calling you to mind in my prayers,
17 affinchè il Dio del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo, il Padre della gloria, vi dia Spirito di sapienza e di rivelazione, nella piena conoscenza di lui,	17 so that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give a spirit of wisdom and of revelation to you, in knowledge of him.
18 e siano illuminati gli occhi del vostro cuore, affinchè sappiate qual è la speranza a che v'ha chiamati, quanto sia ricca la gloria della sua eredità fra i santi,	18 May the eyes of your heart be illuminated, so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and the wealth of the glory of his inheritance with the saints,
19 e quanto immensamente grande la sua potenza su di noi credenti; per l'efficacia della sua potente forza;	19 and the preeminent magnitude of his virtue toward us, toward we who believe in accord with the work of his powerful virtue,
20 la quale egli esercitò in Cristo, risuscitandolo dai morti, e facendolo sedere alla sua destra nei cieli,	20 which he wrought in Christ, raising him from the dead and establishing him at his right hand in the heavens,
21 al di sopra d'ogni Principato e Podestà, Virtù e Dominazione e al di sopra di ogni titolo che si possa dare non solo nell'età presente ma anche nella futura.	21 above every principality and power and virtue and dominion, and above every name that is given, not only in this age, but even in the future age.
22 E tutto pose sotto i suoi piedi, e Lui costituì capo supremo alla Chiesa,	22 And he has subjected all things under his feet, and he has made him the head over the entire Church,
23 che è il corpo di Lui, il complemento di Colui che tutto completa in tutti.	23 which is his body and which is the fullness of him who accomplishes everything in everyone.
