BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - All'uomo, preparare l'animo, al Signore, governare la lingua.	1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.
2 Tutti gli andamenti dell'uomo sono palesi agli occhi suoi, ma ponderatore degli spiriti è Dio.	2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.
3 Confida al Signore le opere tue, e i tuoi disegni riusciranno.	3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.
4 Tutte le cose il Signore ha operato per se stesso, ed anche l'empio pel cattivo giorno.	4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.
5 Abominio del Signore ogni arrogante, e, oggi o domani, non andrà impunito. Inizio della buona strada è praticare la giustizia e presso Dio è più accetto che immolar vittime.	5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.
6 Con la misericordia e la verità s'espia la colpa, e nel timore del Signore si schiva il male.	6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.
7 Quando gradiranno al Signore le vie dell'uomo, riconcilierà a lui anche i nemici.	7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.
8 Meglio poco con giustiziache entrate assai senza equità.	8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.
9 L'uomo propone in cuore il suo camminoma sta al Signore reggere i suoi passi.	9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.
10 Un oracolo sta sulle labbra del re, in giudizio la sua bocca non fallirà.	10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.
11 La stadera e la bilancia sono stabilite da Dio, e opera sua sono tutte le pietre del sacchetto.	11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.
12 Sono abominabili al re i malfattori, giacchè per la giustizia si regge il trono.	12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.
13 Labbra veritiere è ciò che vogliono i re; chi parla rettamente è amato.	13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.
14 Ira di re, messi di morte, ma l'uomo saggio la placherà.	14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.
15 Nel sorriso del re c'è la vita e il suo favore è come la pioggia serotina.	15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.
16 Acquista sapienza, perchè migliore dell'oro, e acquista prudenza, perchè è più preziosa dell'argento.	16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.
17 Il sentiero dei giusti schiva il male e chi vuol custodire l'anima sua bada al suo cammino.	17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.
18 La superbia precede alla caduta e prima della rovina s'inorgoglisce lo spirito.	18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .
19 È meglio abbassarsi coi mansueti, che spartire la preda coi superbi.	19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.
20 Chi è docile alla parola troverà bene, e chi spera nel Signore è beato.	20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.
21 Uomo saggio di cuore vuol dire uomo prudente, e chi è cortese nel parlare, ritrarrà maggiori vantaggi.	21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.
22 Fonte di vita è il buon senso per chi lo possiede; la dottrina degli stolti è fatuità.	22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.
23 Il cuore del saggio istruirà la sua bocca, e alle sue labbra aggiungerà grazia.	23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.
24 Un favo di miele sono i detti soavi, delizia dell'anima, farmaco dell'ossa.	24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.
25 V'è una strada che sembra all'uomo dritta, ma i suoi estremi conducono alla morte.	25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.
26 L'uomo che s'affatica, si affatica per sè, perchè la sua bocca lo costringe.	26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.
27 L'empio scava il male e ha sulle labbra fuoco ardente.	27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.
28 L'uomo perverso suscita liti, e lo sparlatore mette la divisione tra i principi.	28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.
29 L'uomo iniquo adesca il suo amico, e lo mena per via non buona.	29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.
30 Chi di sottecchi macchina intrighi, sogghignando colle labbra compie il male.	30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.
31 Onorifica corona è la canizie, la si troverà sulle vie della giustizia.	31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.
32 Meglio l'uomo paziente che l'uomo forte; e chi domina l'animo suo è da più che un espugnatore di città.	32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.
33 Nel grembo si gettano le sorti, ma dal Signore sono regolate.	33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.
