Esdra 10

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Or mentre Esdra così pregava ed implorava piangendo, prosteso innanzi al tempio di Dio, si radunò intorno a lui un numero grandissimo d'uomini, donne e fanciulli, e la turba piangeva a calde lacrime.	1 While Ezra, weeping and prostrating himself in front of the Temple of God, was praying and makingconfession, a very large crowd of men, women and children of Israel gathered round him, the people weepingbitterly.
2 Sechenia figlio di Jeiel, de' figli di Elam, prese la parola, e disse ad Esdra: «Noi abbiamo peccato contro il Dio nostro, ed abbiamo preso mogli straniere, dei popoli di queste terre. Ed ora, se Israele se ne pente,	2 Then Shechaniah son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, spoke up and said to Ezra, 'We have beenunfaithful to our God by marrying foreign women from the people of the country. But, in spite of this, there is stillsome hope for Israel.
3 facciamo col Signore Dio nostro il patto di repudiare tutte queste donne, ed i figli nati da esse, per far la volontà del Signore e di quelli che temono i comandamenti del Signore Dio nostro; si faccia secondo la legge.	3 We will make a covenant with our God to send away all the foreign wives and their children inobedience to the advice of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God. Let us act inaccordance with the Law.
4 Alzati; sta a te il dar ordini, e noi saremo con te. Fatti animo, ed agisci».	4 Go ahead, do your duty; we support you. Be brave, take action!'
5 Esdra dunque s'alzò, e scongiurò i capi dei sacerdoti e de' leviti, e tutto Israele, di fare come [Sechenia] aveva detto. E lo giurarono.	5 Then Ezra stood up and put the leading priests and Levites and all Israel on oath to do what had beensaid. They took the oath.
6 Allora Esdra si levò dal cospetto della casa di Dio, per andare alla stanza di Joanon figlio di Eliesib; e vi entrò; ma non mangiò pane nè bevve acqua, perchè piangeva il peccato di quelli tornati dalla cattività.	6 Ezra then left his place in front of the Temple of God and went to the room of Jehohanan son ofEliashib, where he spent the night without eating food or drinking water, because he was stil mourning over theexiles' infidelity.
7 E fu data voce in Giuda ed in Gerusalemme, a tutti i trasmigrati dalla cattività, che convenissero in Gerusalemme;	7 A proclamation was issued throughout Judah and Jerusalem that al the exiles were to assemble inJerusalem,
8 e chiunque entro tre giorni non fosse venuto, per ordine dei principi e de' seniori, gli sarebbero confiscati tutti gli averi, ed egli scacciato dalla comunità dei trasmigrati.	8 and that anyone who failed within three days to answer the summons of the officials and elders was toforfeit al his possessions and himself be excluded from the community of the exiles.
9 Si radunarono dunque, al terzo giorno, in Gerusalemme, tutti gli uomini di Giuda e di Beniamino, ai venti del nono mese. Tutto il popolo sedè sulla piazza della casa di Dio, tremando per il suo peccato e per la pioggia.	9 As a result, all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled in Jerusalem within the three days; it wasthe twentieth day of the ninth month. Al the people sat down in the square in front of the Temple of God,trembling because of the matter in hand and because of the heavy rain.
10 Esdra sacerdote s'alzò, e disse loro: «Voi avete disobbedito prendendo mogli straniere, ed avete aggiunto ai peccati d'Israele anche questo.	10 The priest Ezra then stood up and said to them, 'You have been unfaithful and have married foreignwives, thus adding to Israel's guilt.
11 Ed ora, date gloria al Signore Dio de' padri vostri: fate quel che egli vuole, e separatevi dai popoli di queste regioni, e dalle mogli straniere».	11 So now give thanks to Yahweh, God of your ancestors, and do his will by holding aloof from thepeople of the country and from foreign wives.'
12 Rispose tutta la moltitudine a gran voce, e disse: «Come ci hai detto, così sia fatto.	12 In ringing tones, the whole assembly answered, 'Yes, our duty is to do as you say.
13 Ma poichè siamo una gran moltitudine, e piove, e non reggiamo a stare all'aperto, e non è faccenda d'un giorno o due, essendo stato grande su ciò il nostro peccato,	13 But there are many people here and it is the rainy season; we cannot stay out in the open; besides,this is not something that can be dealt with in one or two days, since many of us have been unfaithful over this.
14 si stabiliscano dei capi fra tutto il popolo; tutti quelli delle nostre città che hanno preso mogli straniere vengano ai giorni stabiliti, insieme ai seniori di ciascuna città ed ai suoi giudici, sinchè sia dileguata di sopra noi l'ira di Dio per il nostro peccato».	14 Let our officials deputise for the whole community, and all the people in our towns who have marriedforeign wives can come at stated times, accompanied by elders and judges from each town, until our God'sfierce anger over this is turned away from us.'
15 Furono dunque a ciò deputati Jonatan figlio di Azael, e Jaasia figlio di Tecue; Messolam e Sebetai, leviti, li aiutarono.	15 Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshul am and Shabbethaithe Levite, were opposed to this.
16 I ritornati dalla trasmigrazione fecero come era stato detto. Ed Esdra sacerdote ed i capi delle famiglie andarono per le case de' padri di famiglia notati ciascuno per nome, e si radunarono il giorno primo del decimo mese per esaminare la cosa.	16 The exiles did as had been proposed. And the priest Ezra selected the family heads of the variousfamilies, all of them by name, who began their sittings on the first day of the tenth month to look into the matter.
17 La lista di tutti gli uomini che avevano sposato donne straniere fu compiuta il primo giorno del primo mese.	17 And by the first day of the first month they had dealt with al the men who had married foreign women.
18 Dei figli di sacerdoti, fu trovato che avevano preso mogli straniere i seguenti: Dei figli di Josue, i figli di Josebec, ed i suoi fratelli Maasia, Eliezer, Jarib e Godolia.	18 Among the priests who were found to have married foreign wives were: of the sons of Jeshua son ofJozadak and his brothers: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib and Gedaliah,
19 Stese le mani, s'impegnarono a mandar via le proprie mogli, ed offrire per il loro peccato un ariete del gregge.	19 who agreed to send their wives away; their guilt offering was a ram from the flock for their guilt;
20 De' figli di Emmer, Anani e Zebedia.	20 of the sons of Immer: Hanani and Zebadiah;
21 De' figli di Arim, Maasia, Elia, Semeia, Jeiel ed Ozia.	21 of the sons of Harim: Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel and Uzziah;
22 De' figli di Fesur, Elioenai, Maasia, Ismael, Natanael, Jozabed ed Elasa.	22 of the sons of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad and Elasah;
23 De' figli di leviti: Jozabel, Semei, Celaia detto anche Calita, Fataia, Juda ed Eliezer.	23 of the Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah -- that is, Kelita-Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer;
24 De' cantori, Eliasib. Degli ostiarii: Sellum, Telem e Uri.	24 of the singers: Eliashib and Zaccur; of the gatekeepers: Shal um, Telem and Uri;
25 Del popolo d'Israele. De' figli di Faros: Remeia, Jezia, Miamin, Eliezer, Melchia e Banea.	25 and of the Israelites: of the sons of Parosh: Ramiah, Izziah, Malchijah, Mijamin, Eleazar, Malchijahand Benaiah;
26 De' figli di Elam: Matania, Zaccaria, Jeiel, Abdi, Jerimot ed Elia.	26 of the sons of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth and Elijah;
27 De' figli di Zetua: Elioenai, Eliasib, Matania, Jerimut, Zabad e Aziza.	27 of the sons of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad and Aziza;
28 Dei figli di Bebai: Joanan, Anania, Zabbai, Atalai.	28 of the sons of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, Atlai;
29 De' figli di Bani: Mosollam, Melluc, Adaia, Jasub, Saal e Ramot.	29 of the sons of Bigvai: Meshullam, Mal uch, Jedaiah, Jashub, Sheal, Jeremoth;
30 De' figli di Falat-Moab: Edna, Calal, Banaias, Maasias, Matanias, Beseleel, Bennui e Manasse.	30 of the sons of Pahath-Moab: Adna, Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui andManasseh;
31 Dei figli di Erem: Eliezer, Josue, Melchias, Semeias, Simeon,	31 of the sons of Harim: Eliezer, Isshijah, Malchijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
32 Benjamin, Maloc, Samarias.	32 Benjamin, Mal uch, Shemariah;
33 De' figli di Asom: Matanai, Matata, Zabad, Elifelet, Jermai, Manasse, Semei.	33 of the sons of Hashum: Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, Shimei;
34 De' figli di Bani: Maaddi, Amram, Uel,	34 of the sons of Bani: Maadai, Amram, Uel,
35 Baneas, Badaias, Cheliau,	35 Benaiah, Bediah, Jeluhi,
36 Vania, Marimut, Eliasib,	36 Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
37 Matanias, Matanai, Jasi,	37 Mattaniah, Mattenai and Jaasau;
38 Bani, Bennui, Semei,	38 of the sons of Binnui: Shimei,
39 Salmias, Natan, Adaias,	39 Shelemiah, Nathan and Adaiah;
40 Mecnedebai, Sisai, Sarai,	40 of the sons of Zaccai: Shashai, Sharai,
41 Ezrel, Selemiau, Semeria,	41 Azarel, Shelemiah, Shemariah,
42 Sellum, Amaria, Josef.	42 Shallum, Amariah, Joseph;
43 De' figli di Nebo: Jeiel, Matatias, Zabad, Zabina, Jeddu, Joel e Banaia.	43 of the sons of Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel, Benaiah.
44 Tutti questi avevan preso mogli straniere; e di queste, ve ne eran che avevano partorito figli.	44 All these had married foreign wives but sent them away with their children.
