1 - Eliseo disse alla donna di cui aveva risuscitato il figlio: «Levati e va' tu e la tua famiglia e dimora ovunque troverai, poichè il Signore ha chiamata la fame che per sette anni desolerà il paese».	1 Now Elisha spoke to the woman, whose son he had caused to live, saying: “Rise up. Go, you and your household, and sojourn in whatever place you can find. For the Lord has called forth a famine, and it shall overwhelm the land for seven years.”
2 La donna si levò, e fece secondo la parola dell'uomo di Dio, andandosene con la sua famiglia ad abitare per molti anni nel paese dei Filistei.	2 And she rose up, and she acted in accord with the word of the man of God. And going with her household, she sojourned in the land of the Philistines for many days.
3 Passati sette anni, la donna ritornò dal paese dei Filistei e andò a interpellare il re per riavere la sua casa e il suo campo.	3 And when the seven years had ended, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines. And she departed, so that she might petition the king on behalf of her house and on behalf of her fields.
4 Il re stava parlando con Giezi, servo dell'uomo di Dio, e gli diceva: «Narrami tutte le cose grandi che Eliseo ha fatto».	4 Now the king was speaking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, “Describe for me all the great deeds that Elisha has done.”
5 E mentre egli raccontava al re come Eliseo avesse risuscitato un morto, si presentò la donna, di cui era stato risuscitato il figlio, la quale ricorreva al re per la sua casa e i suoi poderi. Giezi disse: «O re, mio signore, costei è la donna e questi è il suo figliuolo, che Eliseo ha risuscitato».	5 And as he was describing for the king the manner in which he had raised the dead, the woman appeared, whose son he had restored to life, crying out to the king on behalf of her house and on behalf of her fields. And Gehazi said, “My lord the king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha raised up.”
6 Il re interrogò la donna, la quale gli narrò l'accaduto; il re allora le diede un eunuco, a cui disse: «Restituisci a costei tutto ciò che le appartiene e tutti i redditi de' suoi poderi, dal giorno che abbandonò il paese fino al presente».	6 And the king questioned the woman. And she explained it to him. And the king appointed a eunuch to her, saying, “Restore to her all that is hers, with all the proceeds of the fields, from the day that she left the land until the present.”
7 Eliseo si portò anche a Damasco, mentre Benadad, re di Siria, era ammalato. A questi fu annunziato: «L'uomo di Dio è venuto qui».	7 Also, Elisha arrived in Damascus, and Benhadad, the king of Syria, was ill. And they reported to him, saying, “The man of God has arrived here.”
8 Il re disse ad Azael: «Prenditi regali e va' incontro all'uomo di Dio e per suo mezzo consulta il Signore, domandandogli: - Potrò io guarire da questa mia infermità? -».	8 And the king said to Hazael: “Take with you gifts. And go to meet the man of God. And consult the Lord through him, saying: ‘Will I be able to escape from this, my infirmity?’ ”
9 Andò dunque Azael incontro ad Eliseo, portando in regalo quanto di meglio vi era in Damasco: un carico di quaranta cammelli. Quando si fu presentato a lui, gli disse: «Il figliuolo tuo Benadad, re di Siria, mi ha mandato a te per chiederti: - Potrò io guarire da questa mia infermità? -».	9 And so, Hazael went to meet him, having with him gifts, and all the goods of Damascus, the burdens of forty camels. And when he had stood before him, he said: “Your son, Benhadad, the king of Syria, sent me to you, saying: ‘Will I be able to be healed from this, my infirmity?’ ”
10 Eliseo gli rispose: «Va' a dirgli: - Tu guarirai. - Tuttavia il Signore mi ha rivelato che morrà certamente».	10 And Elisha said to him: “Go, tell him: ‘You will be healed.’ But the Lord has revealed to me that, dying he shall die.”
11 Poi si fermò con lui e si turbò fino a diventar rosso nel volto. L'uomo di Dio pianse;	11 And he stood beside him, and he was so troubled that his face became flushed. And the man of God wept.
12 e Azael gli chiese: «Perchè il mio signore piange?», ed egli rispose: «Perchè so il male che tu farai ai figli d'Israele; brucerai le loro città fortificate, ucciderai colla spada i loro giovani, schiaccerai i loro bambini, e sventrerai le pregnanti».	12 And Hazael said to him, “Why is my lord weeping?” And he said: “Because I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel. Their fortified cities you will burn with fire. And their young men you will kill with the sword. And you will destroy their little ones, and tear open the pregnant women.”
13 Disse Azael: «Che cosa sono io tuo servo, simile a un cane, per fare cose così grandi?». Eliseo rispose: «Il Signore mi rivela che tu sarai re della Siria».	13 And Hazael said, “But what am I, your servant, a dog, that I would do this great thing?” And Elisha said, “The Lord has revealed to me that you will be the king of Syria.”
14 Essendosi egli allontanato da Eliseo, ritornò al suo padrone, che gli chiese: «Cosa ti ha detto Eliseo?». Egli rispose: «Mi disse che tu recupererai la salute».	14 And when he had departed from Elisha, he went to his lord, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” And he responded: “He said to me, ‘You shall receive health.’ ”
15 Venuto poi il giorno seguente prese una coperta, la inzuppò d'acqua e la stese sulla faccia del re. Morto Benadad, Azael regnò in sua vece.	15 And when the next day had arrived, he took a small covering, and poured water on it, and he spread it over his face. And when he died, Hazael reigned in his place.
16 Nell'anno quinto di Joram figlio di Acab, re d'Israele, e di Josafat, re di Giuda, Joram figlio di Josafat, re di Giuda, regnò.	16 In the fifth year of Joram, the son of Ahab, the king of Israel, and of Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah: Jehoram, the son of Jehoshaphat, reigned as the king of Judah.
17 Aveva trentadue anni quando incominciò a regnare e regnò in Gerusalemme otto anni.	17 He was thirty-two years old when he had begun to reign, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.
18 Camminò nelle vie dei re di Israele come aveva camminato la casa di Acab. And he rose up in the night, and he struck down the Idumeans who had surrounded him, and the leaders of the chariots. But the people fled to their tents.
22 Edom adunque si ribellò per non essere sotto Giuda fino a questi giorni. Anche Lobna si sottrasse in quel tempo.	22 And Idumea drew apart, so as not to be under Judah, even to this day. Then Libnah also drew apart, at the same time.

25 Ocozia figlio di Joram, re di Giuda, cominciò a regnare l'anno decimosecondo di Joram figlio di Acab, re d'Israele.	25 In the twelfth year of Joram, the son of Ahab, the king of Israel: Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, the king of Judah, reigned.
26 Aveva ventidue anni quando salì al trono e regnò in Gerusalemme un anno. 27 Camminò nelle vie della casa di Acab, e fece il male al cospetto del Signore, come la casa di Acab, poichè egli era imparentato con questa casa.	27 And he walked in the ways of the house of Ahab. And he did what is evil before the Lord, just as the house of Ahab did. For he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.
28 Andò con Joram figlio di Acab a combattere contro Azael, re di Siria, in Ramot di Galaad. E i Siri ferirono Joram.	28 Also, he went with Joram, the son of Ahab, in order to fight against Hazael, the king of Syria, at Ramoth Gilead. And the Syrians had wounded Joram.
29 Il re ritornò a Jezrael per farsi curare dalle ferite ricevute dai Siri in Ramot, mentre combatteva contro Azael, re della Siria. Ora Ocozia figliuolo di Joram, re di Giuda, venne a trovare Joram figlio di Acab in Jezrael, dove era ammalato.	29 And he turned back, so that he might be cured at Jezreel. For the Syrians had wounded him at Ramoth, fighting against Hazael, the king of Syria. Then Ahaziah, the son of Jehoram, the king of Judah, descended to visit Joram, the son of Ahab, at Jezreel, because he was sick there.
