Zaccaria 1

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Nell’ottavo mese dell’anno secondo di Dario, fu rivolta questa parola del Signore al profeta Zaccaria, figlio di Berechia, figlio di Iddo:	1 In the second year of Darius, in the eighth month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to the prophetZechariah (son of Berechiah), son of Iddo, as fol ows,
2 «Il Signore si è molto sdegnato contro i vostri padri.	2 'Yahweh was deeply angry with your ancestors.
3 Tu dunque riferirai loro: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Tornate a me – oracolo del Signore degli eserciti – e io tornerò a voi, dice il Signore degli eserciti.	3 So say this to them, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Return to me -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- and I willreturn to you, says Yahweh Sabaoth.
4 Non siate come i vostri padri, ai quali i profeti di un tempo andavano gridando: “Dice il Signore degli eserciti: Tornate indietro dal vostro cammino perverso e dalle vostre opere malvagie”. Ma essi non vollero ascoltare e non mi prestarono attenzione, oracolo del Signore.	4 Do not be like your ancestors when the prophets in the past cried to them: Yahweh Sabaoth says this:Turn back from your evil ways and evil deeds -- they would not listen or pay attention to me -- Yahweh declares.
5 Dove sono i vostri padri? I profeti forse vivranno sempre?	5 Where are your ancestors now? And the prophets, do they live for ever?
6 Le parole e le leggi che io avevo comunicato ai miei servi, i profeti, non si sono forse adempiute per i padri vostri? Essi sono tornati e hanno detto: “Quanto il Signore degli eserciti ci aveva minacciato a causa dei nostri traviamenti e delle nostre colpe, l’ha eseguito sopra di noi”».	6 But did not my words and statutes, with which I had charged my servants the prophets, overtake yourancestors just the same?" ' So they repented and said, 'Yahweh Sabaoth has treated us as he resolved to do,and as our ways and deeds deserved.'
7 Il ventiquattro dell’undicesimo mese, cioè il mese di Sebat, l’anno secondo di Dario, questa parola del Signore fu rivolta al profeta Zaccaria, figlio di Berechia, figlio di Iddo.	7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month (the month of Shebat), in the second year of Darius, theword of Yahweh was addressed to the prophet Zechariah (son of Berechiah), son of Iddo, as fol ows,
8 Io ebbi una visione di notte. Un uomo, in groppa a un cavallo rosso, stava fra i mirti in una valle profonda; dietro a lui stavano altri cavalli rossi, sauri e bianchi.	8 'I had a vision during the night. There was a man riding a red horse standing among the deep-rootedmyrtles; behind him were other horses-red, chestnut and white.
9 Io domandai: «Mio signore, che cosa significano queste cose?». L’angelo che parlava con me mi rispose: «Io ti indicherò ciò che esse significano».	9 I said, "What are these, my lord?" And the angel who was talking to me said, "I will show you what they are."
10 Allora l’uomo che stava fra i mirti prese a dire: «Questi sono coloro che il Signore ha inviato a percorrere la terra».	10 The man standing among the myrtles then replied, "Those are they whom Yahweh has sent to patrolthe world."
11 Si rivolsero infatti all’angelo del Signore che stava fra i mirti e gli dissero: «Abbiamo percorso la terra: è tutta tranquilla».	11 They reported to the angel of Yahweh as he stood among the myrtles, "We have been patrol ing theworld, and indeed the whole world is stil and at peace."
12 Allora l’angelo del Signore disse: «Signore degli eserciti, fino a quando rifiuterai di avere pietà di Gerusalemme e delle città di Giuda, contro le quali sei sdegnato? Sono ormai settant’anni!».	12 The angel of Yahweh then spoke and said, "Yahweh Sabaoth, how long wil you wait before taking pityon Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, on which you have inflicted your anger for the past seventy years?"
13 E all’angelo che parlava con me il Signore rivolse parole buone, piene di conforto.	13 Yahweh then replied with kind and comforting words to the angel who was talking to me.
14 Poi l’angelo che parlava con me mi disse: «Fa’ sapere questo: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io sono molto geloso di Gerusalemme e di Sion,	14 The angel who was talking to me then said to me, "Make this proclamation: Yahweh Sabaoth saysthis: I am burning with jealousy for Jerusalem and Zion
15 ma ardo di sdegno contro le nazioni superbe, poiché, mentre io ero poco sdegnato, esse cooperarono al disastro.	15 but am deeply angry with the nations now at ease; before, I was only mildly angry, but they contributedto the disaster.
16 Perciò dice il Signore: Io di nuovo mi volgo con compassione a Gerusalemme: la mia casa vi sarà riedificata – oracolo del Signore degli eserciti – e la corda del muratore sarà tesa di nuovo sopra Gerusalemme.	16 So now Yahweh says this: In compassion I have returned to Jerusalem; my Temple will be rebuiltthere -- Yahweh Sabaoth declares -- and the measuring line wil be stretched over Jerusalem.
17 Fa’ sapere anche questo: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Le mie città avranno sovrabbondanza di beni, il Signore consolerà ancora Sion ed eleggerà di nuovo Gerusalemme».	17 Make this proclamation too: Yahweh Sabaoth says this: My cities are once more to be veryprosperous. Yahweh will comfort Zion once again, and again make Jerusalem his choice." '
