Amos 5

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ascoltate questa parola, questo lamento che io elevo su di voi, o casa d’Israele!	1 Listen to this word which I utter against you, it is a dirge, House of Israel:
2 È caduta, non si alzerà più, la vergine d’Israele; è stesa al suolo, nessuno la fa rialzare.	2 She has fal en down, never to rise again, the virgin Israel. There she lies on her own soil, with no oneto lift her up.
3 Poiché così dice il Signore Dio: «La città che mandava in guerra mille uomini resterà con cento, e la città che ne mandava cento per la casa d’Israele, resterà con dieci».	3 For Lord Yahweh says this: The town which used to put a thousand in the field wil be left with ahundred, and the one which used to put a hundred will be left with ten, to fight for the House of Israel.
4 Poiché così dice il Signore alla casa d’Israele: «Cercate me e vivrete!	4 For Yahweh says this to the House of Israel: Seek me out and you wil survive,
5 Non cercate Betel, non andate a Gàlgala, non passate a Bersabea, perché Gàlgala andrà certo in esilio e Betel sarà ridotta al nulla».	5 but do not seek out Bethel, do not go to Gilgal, do not journey to Beersheba, for Gilgal is going intocaptivity and Bethel will be brought to nothing.
6 Cercate il Signore e vivrete, altrimenti egli, come un fuoco, brucerà la casa di Giuseppe, la divorerà e nessuno spegnerà Betel!	6 Seek out Yahweh and you wil survive or else he wil sweep like fire upon the House of Joseph andburn it down, with no one at Bethel able to quench the flames.
7 Essi trasformano il diritto in assenzio e gettano a terra la giustizia.	7 They turn justice into wormwood and throw uprightness to the ground.
8 Colui che ha fatto le Pleiadi e Orione, cambia il buio in chiarore del mattino e il giorno nell’oscurità della notte, colui che chiama a raccolta le acque del mare e le riversa sulla terra, Signore è il suo nome.	8 He it is who makes the Pleiades and Orion, who turns shadow dark as death into morning and day todarkest night, who summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the surface of the land. Yahweh is hisname.
9 Egli fa cadere la rovina sull’uomo potente e fa giungere la devastazione sulle fortezze.	9 He brings destruction on the strong and ruin comes on the fortress.
10 Essi odiano chi fa giuste accuse in tribunale e detestano chi testimonia secondo verità.	10 They hate the man who teaches justice at the city gate and detest anyone who declares the truth.
11 Poiché voi schiacciate l’indigente e gli estorcete una parte del grano, voi che avete costruito case in pietra squadrata, non le abiterete; voi che avete innalzato vigne deliziose, non ne berrete il vino.	11 For trampling on the poor man and for extorting levies on his wheat: although you have built housesof dressed stone, you wil not live in them; although you have planted pleasant vineyards, you wil not drink winefrom them:
12 So infatti quanto numerosi sono i vostri misfatti, quanto enormi i vostri peccati. Essi sono ostili verso il giusto, prendono compensi illeciti e respingono i poveri nel tribunale.	12 for I know how many your crimes are and how outrageous your sins, you oppressors of the upright,who hold people to ransom and thrust the poor aside at the gates.
13 Perciò il prudente in questo tempo tacerà, perché sarà un tempo di calamità.	13 That is why anyone prudent keeps silent now, since the time is evil.
14 Cercate il bene e non il male, se volete vivere, e solo così il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, sarà con voi, come voi dite.	14 Seek good and not evil so that you may survive, and Yahweh, God Sabaoth, be with you as you claimhe is.
15 Odiate il male e amate il bene e ristabilite nei tribunali il diritto; forse il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, avrà pietà del resto di Giuseppe.	15 Hate evil, love good, let justice reign at the city gate: it may be that Yahweh, God Sabaoth, wil takepity on the remnant of Joseph.
16 Perciò così dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, il Signore: «In tutte le piazze vi sarà lamento, in tutte le strade si dirà: “Ohimè! ohimè!”. Si chiameranno i contadini a fare il lutto e quelli che conoscono la nenia a fare il lamento.	16 Therefore Yahweh Sabaoth, the Lord, says this: In every public square there wil be lamentation, inevery street they will cry out, 'Alas! Alas!' The farmer wil be called on to mourn, the professional mourners tolament,
17 In tutte le vigne vi sarà lamento, quando io passerò in mezzo a te», dice il Signore.	17 and there wil be wailing in every vineyard, for I mean to pass through among you, Yahweh says.
18 Guai a coloro che attendono il giorno del Signore! Che cosa sarà per voi il giorno del Signore? Tenebre e non luce!	18 Disaster for you who long for the Day of Yahweh! What will the Day of Yahweh mean for you? It wilmean darkness, not light,
19 Come quando uno fugge davanti al leone e s’imbatte in un orso; come quando entra in casa, appoggia la mano sul muro e un serpente lo morde.	19 as when someone runs away from a lion, only to meet a bear; he goes into his house and puts hishand on the wal , only for a snake to bite him.
20 Non sarà forse tenebra, non luce, il giorno del Signore? Oscurità, senza splendore alcuno?	20 Will not the Day of Yahweh be darkness, not light, total y dark, without a ray of light?
21 «Io detesto, respingo le vostre feste solenni e non gradisco le vostre riunioni sacre;	21 I hate, I scorn your festivals, I take no pleasure in your solemn assemblies.
22 anche se voi mi offrite olocausti, io non gradisco le vostre offerte, e le vittime grasse come pacificazione io non le guardo.	22 When you bring me burnt offerings . . . your oblations, I do not accept them and I do not look at yourcommunion sacrifices of fat cattle.
23 Lontano da me il frastuono dei vostri canti: il suono delle vostre arpe non posso sentirlo!	23 Spare me the din of your chanting, let me hear none of your strumming on lyres,
24 Piuttosto come le acque scorra il diritto e la giustizia come un torrente perenne.	24 but let justice flow like water, and uprightness like a never-failing stream!
25 Mi avete forse presentato sacrifici e offerte nel deserto per quarant’anni, o Israeliti?	25 Did you bring me sacrifices and oblations those forty years in the desert, House of Israel?
26 Voi avete innalzato Siccut come vostro re e Chiion come vostro idolo, e Stella come vostra divinità: tutte cose fatte da voi.	26 Now you must shoulder Sakkuth your king and the star of your God, Kaiwan, those idols you made foryourselves;
27 Ora, io vi manderò in esilio al di là di Damasco», dice il Signore, il cui nome è Dio degli eserciti.	27 for I am about to drive you into captivity beyond Damascus, Yahweh says -- God Sabaoth is hisname.
