1 Il Signore parlò a Mosè e ad Aronne e disse loro:	1 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
2 «Parlate agli Israeliti dicendo: “Questi sono gli animali che potrete mangiare fra tutte le bestie che sono sulla terra.	2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: Of all land animals these are the ones you may eat:
3 Potrete mangiare di ogni quadrupede che ha l’unghia bipartita, divisa da una fessura, e che rumina.	3 any animal that has hoofs you may eat, provided it is cloven-footed and chews the cud.
4 Ma fra i ruminanti e gli animali che hanno l’unghia divisa, non mangerete i seguenti: il cammello, perché rumina, ma non ha l’unghia divisa, lo considererete impuro;	4 But you shall not eat any of the following that only chew the cud or only have hoofs: the camel, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;
5 l’iràce, perché rumina, ma non ha l’unghia divisa, lo considererete impuro;	5 the rock badger, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you;
6 la lepre, perché rumina, ma non ha l’unghia divisa, la considererete impura;	6 the hare, which indeed chews the cud, but does not have hoofs and is therefore unclean for you; and the pig,
7 il porco, perché ha l’unghia bipartita da una fessura, ma non rumina, lo considererete impuro.	7 which does indeed have hoofs and is cloven-footed, but does not chew the cud and is therefore unclean for you.
8 Non mangerete la loro carne e non toccherete i loro cadaveri; li considererete impuri.	8 Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall not touch; they are unclean for you.
9 Fra tutti gli animali acquatici ecco quelli che potrete mangiare: potrete mangiare tutti quelli, di mare o di fiume, che hanno pinne e squame.	9 "Of the various creatures that live in the water, you may eat the following: whatever in the seas or in river waters has both fins and scales you may eat.
10 Ma di tutti gli animali che si muovono o vivono nelle acque, nei mari e nei fiumi, quanti non hanno né pinne né squame saranno per voi obbrobriosi.	10 But of the various creatures that crawl or swim in the water, whether in the sea or in the rivers, all those that lack either fins or scales are loathsome for you,
11 Essi saranno per voi obbrobriosi; non mangerete la loro carne e riterrete obbrobriosi i loro cadaveri.	11 and you shall treat them as loathsome. Their flesh you shall not eat, and their dead bodies you shall loathe.
12 Tutto ciò che non ha né pinne né squame nelle acque sarà per voi obbrobrioso.	12 Every water creature that lacks fins or scales is loathsome for you.
13 Fra i volatili saranno obbrobriosi questi, che non dovrete mangiare, perché obbrobriosi: l’aquila, l’avvoltoio e l’aquila di mare,	13 "Of the birds, these you shall loathe and, as loathsome, they shall not be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,
14 il nibbio e ogni specie di falco,	14 the kite, the various species of falcons,
15 ogni specie di corvo,	15 the various species of crows,
16 lo struzzo, la civetta, il gabbiano e ogni specie di sparviero,	16 the ostrich, the nightjar, the gull, the various species of hawks,
17 il gufo, l’alcione, l’ibis,	17 the owl, the cormorant, the screech owl,
18 il cigno, il pellicano, la fòlaga,	18 the barn owl, the desert owl, the buzzard,
19 la cicogna, ogni specie di airone, l’ùpupa e il pipistrello.	19 the stork, the various species of herons, the hoopoe, and the bat.
20 Sarà per voi obbrobrioso anche ogni insetto alato che cammina su quattro piedi.	20 "The various winged insects that walk on all fours are loathsome for you.
21 Però fra tutti gli insetti alati che camminano su quattro piedi, potrete mangiare quelli che hanno due zampe sopra i piedi, per saltare sulla terra.	21 But of the various winged insects that walk on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs for leaping on the ground;
22 Perciò potrete mangiare i seguenti: ogni specie di cavalletta, ogni specie di locusta, ogni specie di acrìdi e ogni specie di grillo.	22 hence of these you may eat the following: the various kinds of locusts, the various kinds of grasshoppers, the various kinds of katydids, and the various kinds of crickets.
23 Ogni altro insetto alato che ha quattro piedi sarà obbrobrioso per voi;	23 All other winged insects that have four legs are loathsome for you.
24 infatti vi rendono impuri: chiunque toccherà il loro cadavere sarà impuro fino alla sera	24 "Such is the uncleanness that you contract, that everyone who touches their dead bodies shall be unclean until evening,
25 e chiunque trasporterà i loro cadaveri si dovrà lavare le vesti e sarà impuro fino alla sera.	25 and everyone who picks up any part of their dead bodies shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.
26 Riterrete impuro ogni animale che ha l’unghia, ma non divisa da fessura, e non rumina: chiunque li toccherà sarà impuro.	26 All hoofed animals that are not cloven-footed or do not chew the cud are unclean for you; everyone who touches them becomes unclean.
27 Considererete impuri tutti i quadrupedi che camminano sulla pianta dei piedi; chiunque ne toccherà il cadavere sarà impuro fino alla sera.	27 Of the various quadrupeds, all those that walk on paws are unclean for you; everyone who touches their dead bodies shall be unclean until evening,
28 E chiunque trasporterà i loro cadaveri si dovrà lavare le vesti e sarà impuro fino alla sera. Tali animali riterrete impuri.	28 and everyone who picks up their dead bodies shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening. Such is their uncleanness for you.
29 Fra gli animali che strisciano per terra riterrete impuro: la talpa, il topo e ogni specie di sauri,	29 "Of the creatures that swarm on the ground, the following are unclean for you: the rat, the mouse, the various kinds of lizards,
30 il toporagno, la lucertola, il geco, il ramarro, il camaleonte.	30 the gecko, the chameleon, the agama, the skink, and the mole.
31 Questi animali, fra quanti strisciano, saranno impuri per voi; chiunque li toccherà morti, sarà impuro fino alla sera.	31 Among the various swarming creatures, these are unclean for you. Everyone who touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.
32 Ogni oggetto sul quale cadrà morto qualcuno di essi, sarà impuro: si tratti di utensile di legno oppure di veste o pelle o sacco o qualunque altro oggetto di cui si faccia uso; si immergerà nell’acqua e sarà impuro fino alla sera, poi sarà puro.	32 Everything on which one of them falls when dead becomes unclean. Any such article that men use, whether it be an article of wood, cloth, leather or goat hair, must be put in water and remain unclean until evening, when it again becomes clean.
33 Se ne cade qualcuno in un vaso di terra, quanto vi si troverà dentro sarà impuro e spezzerete il vaso.	33 Should any of these creatures fall into a clay vessel, everything in it becomes unclean, and the vessel itself you must break.
34 Ogni cibo che serve di nutrimento, sul quale cada quell’acqua, sarà impuro; ogni bevanda potabile, qualunque sia il vaso che la contiene, sarà impura.	34 Any solid food that was in contact with water, and any liquid that men drink, in any such vessel become unclean.
35 Ogni oggetto sul quale cadrà qualche parte del loro cadavere, sarà impuro; il forno o il fornello sarà spezzato: sono impuri e li dovete ritenere tali.	35 Any object on which one of their dead bodies falls, becomes unclean; if it is an oven or a jar-stand, this must be broken to pieces; they are unclean and shall be treated as unclean by you.
36 Però, una fonte o una cisterna, cioè una raccolta di acqua, resterà pura; ma chi toccherà i loro cadaveri sarà impuro.	36 However, a spring or a cistern for collecting water remains clean; but whoever touches the dead body becomes unclean.
37 Se qualcosa dei loro cadaveri cade su qualche seme che deve essere seminato, questo sarà puro;	37 Any sort of cultivated grain remains clean even though one of their dead bodies falls on it;
38 ma se è stata versata acqua sul seme e vi cade qualche cosa dei loro cadaveri, lo riterrai impuro.	38 but if the grain has become moistened, it becomes unclean when one of these falls on it.
39 Se muore un animale, di cui vi potete cibare, colui che ne toccherà il cadavere sarà impuro fino alla sera.	39 "When one of the animals that you could otherwise eat, dies of itself, anyone who touches its dead body shall be unclean until evening;
40 Colui che mangerà di quel cadavere si laverà le vesti e sarà impuro fino alla sera; anche colui che trasporterà quel cadavere si laverà le vesti e sarà impuro fino alla sera.	40 and anyone who eats of its dead body shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening; so also, anyone who removes its dead body shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.
41 Ogni essere che striscia sulla terra sarà obbrobrioso; non se ne mangerà.	41 "All the creatures that swarm on the ground are loathsome and shall not be eaten.
42 Di tutti gli animali che strisciano sulla terra non ne mangerete alcuno che cammini sul ventre o cammini con quattro piedi o con molti piedi, poiché saranno obbrobriosi.	42 Whether it crawls on its belly, goes on all fours, or has many legs, you shall eat no swarming creature: they are loathsome.
43 Non rendete le vostre persone contaminate con alcuno di questi animali che strisciano; non rendetevi impuri con essi e non diventate, a causa loro, impuri.	43 Do not make yourselves loathsome or unclean with any swarming creature through being contaminated by them.
44 Poiché io sono il Signore, vostro Dio. Santificatevi dunque e siate santi, perché io sono santo; non rendete impure le vostre persone con alcuno di questi animali che strisciano per terra.	44 For I, the LORD, am your God; and you shall make and keep yourselves holy, because I am holy. You shall not make yourselves unclean, then, by any swarming creature that crawls on the ground.
45 Poiché io sono il Signore, che vi ho fatto uscire dalla terra d’Egitto per essere il vostro Dio; siate dunque santi, perché io sono santo.	45 Since I, the LORD, brought you up from the land of Egypt that I might be your God, you shall be holy, because I am holy.
46 Questa è la legge che riguarda i quadrupedi, gli uccelli, ogni essere vivente che si muove nelle acque e ogni essere che striscia per terra,	46 "This is the law for animals and birds and for all the creatures that move about in the water or swarm on the ground,
47 per distinguere ciò che è impuro da ciò che è puro, l’animale che si può mangiare da quello che non si deve mangiare”».	47 that you may distinguish between the clean and the unclean, between creatures that may be eaten and those that may not be eaten."
