1 All'uomo appartengono i progetti della mente, ma dal Signore viene la risposta.	1 The plans of the mind belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo sembrano pure ai suoi occhi, ma chi scruta gli spiriti è il Signore.	2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirit.
3 Affida al Signore la tua attività e i tuoi progetti riusciranno.	3 Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.
4 Il Signore ha fatto tutto per un fine, anche l'empio per il giorno della sventura.	4 The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.
5 È un abominio per il Signore ogni cuore superbo, certamente non resterà impunito.	5 Every one who is arrogant is an abomination to the LORD; be assured, he will not go unpunished.
6 Con la bontà e la fedeltà si espia la colpa, con il timore del Signore si evita il male.	6 By loyalty and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil.
7 Quando il Signore si compiace della condotta di un uomo, riconcilia con lui anche i suoi nemici.	7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 Poco con onestà è meglio di molte rendite senza giustizia.	8 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.
9 La mente dell'uomo pensa molto alla sua via, ma il Signore dirige i suoi passi.	9 A man's mind plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.
10 Un oracolo è sulle labbra del re, in giudizio la sua bocca non sbaglia.	10 Inspired decisions are on the lips of a king; his mouth does not sin in judgment.
11 La stadera e le bilance giuste appartengono al Signore, sono opera sua tutti i pesi del sacchetto.	11 A just balance and scales are the LORDs; all the weights in the bag are his work.
12 È in abominio ai re commettere un'azione iniqua, poiché il trono si consolida con la giustizia.	12 It is an abomination to kings to do evil, for the throne is established by righteousness.
13 Delle labbra giuste si compiace il re e ama chi parla con rettitudine.	13 Righteous lips are the delight of a king, and he loves him who speaks what is right.
14 L'ira del re è messaggera di morte, ma l'uomo saggio la placherà.	14 A king's wrath is a messenger of death, and a wise man will appease it.
15 Nello splendore del volto del re è la vita, il suo favore è come nube di primavera.	15 In the light of a king's face there is life, and his favor is like the clouds that bring the spring rain.
16 È molto meglio possedere la sapienza che l'oro, il possesso dell'intelligenza è preferibile all'argento.	16 To get wisdom is better than gold; to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
17 La strada degli uomini retti è evitare il male, conserva la vita chi controlla la sua via.	17 The highway of the upright turns aside from evil; he who guards his way preserves his life.
18 Prima della rovina viene l'orgoglio e prima della caduta lo spirito altero.	18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 È meglio abbassarsi con gli umili che spartire la preda con i superbi.	19 It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 Chi è prudente nella parola troverà il bene e chi confida nel Signore è beato.	20 He who gives heed to the word will prosper, and happy is he who trusts in the LORD.
21 Sarà chiamato intelligente chi è saggio di mente; il linguaggio dolce aumenta la dottrina.	21 The wise of heart is called a man of discernment, and pleasant speech increases persuasiveness.
22 Fonte di vita è la prudenza per chi la possiede, castigo degli stolti è la stoltezza.	22 Wisdom is a fountain of life to him who has it, but folly is the chastisement of fools.
23 Una mente saggia rende prudente la bocca e sulle sue labbra aumenta la dottrina.	23 The mind of the wise makes his speech judicious, and adds persuasiveness to his lips.
24 Favo di miele sono le parole gentili, dolcezza per l'anima e refrigerio per il corpo.	24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
25 C'è una via che pare diritta a qualcuno, ma sbocca in sentieri di morte.	25 There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
26 L'appetito del lavoratore lavora per lui, perché la sua bocca lo stimola.	26 A worker's appetite works for him; his mouth urges him on.
27 L'uomo perverso produce la sciagura, sulle sue labbra c'è come un fuoco ardente.	27 A worthless man plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire.
28 L'uomo ambiguo provoca litigi, chi calunnia divide gli amici.	28 A perverse man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.
29 L'uomo violento seduce il prossimo e lo spinge per una via non buona.	29 A man of violence entices his neighbor and leads him in a way that is not good.
30 Chi socchiude gli occhi medita inganni, chi stringe le labbra ha già commesso il male.	30 He who winks his eyes plans perverse things, he who compresses his lips brings evil to pass.
31 Corona magnifica è la canizie, ed essa si trova sulla via della giustizia.	31 A hoary head is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.
32 Il paziente val più di un eroe, chi domina se stesso val più di chi conquista una città.	32 He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.
33 Nel grembo si getta la sorte, ma la decisione dipende tutta dal Signore.	33 The lot is cast into the lap, but the decision is wholly from the LORD.
