BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 All'uomo appartengono i progetti della mente, ma dal Signore viene la risposta.	1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.
2 Tutte le vie dell'uomo sembrano pure ai suoi occhi, ma chi scruta gli spiriti è il Signore.	2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.
3 Affida al Signore la tua attività e i tuoi progetti riusciranno.	3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.
4 Il Signore ha fatto tutto per un fine, anche l'empio per il giorno della sventura.	4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.
5 È un abominio per il Signore ogni cuore superbo, certamente non resterà impunito.	5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.
6 Con la bontà e la fedeltà si espia la colpa, con il timore del Signore si evita il male.	6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.
7 Quando il Signore si compiace della condotta di un uomo, riconcilia con lui anche i suoi nemici.	7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.
8 Poco con onestà è meglio di molte rendite senza giustizia.	8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.
9 La mente dell'uomo pensa molto alla sua via, ma il Signore dirige i suoi passi.	9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.
10 Un oracolo è sulle labbra del re, in giudizio la sua bocca non sbaglia.	10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.
11 La stadera e le bilance giuste appartengono al Signore, sono opera sua tutti i pesi del sacchetto.	11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.
12 È in abominio ai re commettere un'azione iniqua, poiché il trono si consolida con la giustizia.	12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.
13 Delle labbra giuste si compiace il re e ama chi parla con rettitudine.	13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.
14 L'ira del re è messaggera di morte, ma l'uomo saggio la placherà.	14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.
15 Nello splendore del volto del re è la vita, il suo favore è come nube di primavera.	15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.
16 È molto meglio possedere la sapienza che l'oro, il possesso dell'intelligenza è preferibile all'argento.	16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.
17 La strada degli uomini retti è evitare il male, conserva la vita chi controlla la sua via.	17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.
18 Prima della rovina viene l'orgoglio e prima della caduta lo spirito altero.	18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .
19 È meglio abbassarsi con gli umili che spartire la preda con i superbi.	19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.
20 Chi è prudente nella parola troverà il bene e chi confida nel Signore è beato.	20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.
21 Sarà chiamato intelligente chi è saggio di mente; il linguaggio dolce aumenta la dottrina.	21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.
22 Fonte di vita è la prudenza per chi la possiede, castigo degli stolti è la stoltezza.	22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.
23 Una mente saggia rende prudente la bocca e sulle sue labbra aumenta la dottrina.	23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.
24 Favo di miele sono le parole gentili, dolcezza per l'anima e refrigerio per il corpo.	24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.
25 C'è una via che pare diritta a qualcuno, ma sbocca in sentieri di morte.	25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.
26 L'appetito del lavoratore lavora per lui, perché la sua bocca lo stimola.	26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.
27 L'uomo perverso produce la sciagura, sulle sue labbra c'è come un fuoco ardente.	27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.
28 L'uomo ambiguo provoca litigi, chi calunnia divide gli amici.	28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.
29 L'uomo violento seduce il prossimo e lo spinge per una via non buona.	29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.
30 Chi socchiude gli occhi medita inganni, chi stringe le labbra ha già commesso il male.	30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.
31 Corona magnifica è la canizie, ed essa si trova sulla via della giustizia.	31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.
32 Il paziente val più di un eroe, chi domina se stesso val più di chi conquista una città.	32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.
33 Nel grembo si getta la sorte, ma la decisione dipende tutta dal Signore.	33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.
