1 Ma il profeta Eliseo chiamò uno de' figliuoli de' profeti, e gli disse: Cingi i tuoi fianchi, e prendi questa ampolla d'olio in mano, e va a Ramoth di Galaad.	1 The prophet Elisha called one of the guild prophets and said to him: "Gird your loins, take this flask of oil with you, and go to Ramoth-gilead.
2 E giunto colà, vedrai Jehu figliuolo di Josaphat, figliuolo di Namsi, e appressandoti a lui. Lo tirerai a parte dall'adunanza de' suoi fratelli, e lo condurrai in una camera rimota.	2 When you get there, look for Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. Enter and take him away from his companions into an inner chamber.
3 E presa l'ampolla dell'olio, la verserai sul capo di lui, dicendo: Queste cose dice il Signore: Io ti ho unto in re d'Israele. E aprirai la porta, e fuggirai, e non ti fermerai in quel luogo.	3 From the flask you have, pour oil on his head, and say, 'Thus says the LORD: I anoint you king over Israel.' Then open the door and flee without delay."
4 Il giovine adunque ministro del profeta andò a Ramoth di Galaad,	4 The young man (the guild prophet) went to Ramoth-gilead.
5 E quando ei giunse colà, vide come i principi dell'esercito erano assisi, e disse: Ho da dire una parola a te, o principe. E Jehu disse: A chi di tutti noi? E quegli rispose: A te, o principe.	5 When he arrived, the commanders of the army were in session. "I have a message for you, commander," he said. "For which one of us?" asked Jehu. "For you, commander," he answered.
6 Ed egli si alzò, ed entrò in una camera. Ma quegli versò l'olio sul capo di lui, e disse: Il Signore Dio d'Israele dice così: Io ti ho unto re del popol mio d'Israele.	6 Jehu got up and went into the house. Then the young man poured the oil on his head and said, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: 'I anoint you king over the people of the LORD, over Israel.
7 E sterminerai la casa di Achab tuo signore, e io farò vendetta del sangue de' profeti miei servi, e del sangue di tutti i servi del Signore sopra Jezabele.	7 You shall destroy the house of Ahab your master; thus will I avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the other servants of the LORD shed by Jezebel,
8 E distruggerò tutta la casa di Achab, e ucciderò fino i cani della casa di Achab, e i rinchiusi, e gli ultimi d'Israele.	8 and by all the rest of the family of Ahab. I will cut off every male in Ahab's line, whether slave or freeman in Israel.
9 E farò della casa di Achab, come della casa di Geroboam figliuolo di Nabath, e come della casa di Baasa figliuolo di Ahia.	9 I will deal with the house of Ahab as I dealt with the house of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, and with the house of Baasha, son of Ahijah.
10 E la stessa Jezabele sarà divorata dai cani nella campagna di Jezrael, e non avrà chi le dia sepoltura. Indi egli aperse la porta, e fuggì.	10 Dogs shall devour Jezebel at the confines of Jezreel, so that no one can bury her.'" Then he opened the door and fled.
11 E Jehu andò dov' erano i servi del suo signore, i quali gli dissero: Va bene ogni cosa? A qual fine è venuto quel pazzo a trovarti? Egli disse loro: Voi conoscete l'uomo, e i suoi discorsi.	11 When Jehu rejoined his master's servants, they asked him, "Is all well? Why did that madman come to you?" You know that kind of man and his talk, he replied.
12 Ma quelli risposero: Non è vero; ma tu piuttosto fanne a noi il racconto. Ed egli disse loro: Ei mi ha detto questo, e questo, e ha soggiunto: Queste cose dice il Signore: Ti ho unto re sopra Israele.	12 But they said, "Not at all! Come, tell us." So he told them what the young man had said to him, and finally, "Thus says the LORD: 'I anoint you king over Israel.'"
13 Si alzarono quegli in fretta, e prendendo ciascun di essi il proprio mantello li posero sotto a' piedi di lui,facendo come un tribunale, e sonaron la tromba, e dissero: Jehu è fatto re.	13 At once each took his garment, spread it under Jehu on the bare steps, blew the trumpet, and cried out, "Jehu is king!"
14 Jehu pertanto figliuolo di Josaphat,figliuolo di Namsi, fece congiura contro Joram. Or Joram con tutto Israele assediava Ramoth di Galaad contro Hazael re della Siria.	14 Thus Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi, formed a conspiracy against Joram. Joram, with all Israel, had been besieging Ramoth-gilead against Hazael, king of Aram,
15 Ed era tornato indietro a Jezrael per farsi curare delle ferite, che avea ricevute dai Siri combattendo contro Hazael re di Siria. Or Jehu disse Se così vi piace, nissuno esca, o si fugga dalla città, affinchè non vada a portar la nuova a Jezrael.	15 but had returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him in the battle against Hazael, king of Aram. "If you are truly with me," Jehu said, "see that no one escapes from the city to report in Jezreel."
16 E si mosse egli, e andò verso Jezrael: perocché ivi si trovava Joram ammalato, e Ochozia re di Giuda era andato per visitare Joram.	16 Then Jehu mounted his chariot and drove to Jezreel, where Joram lay ill and Ahaziah, king of Judah, had come to visit him.
17 La sentinella pertanto, la quale stava sulla torre di Jezrael, vide la schiera di Jehu, che veniva, e disse: Veggo una schiera. E Joram disse: Si prenda un cocchio, e si mandi alcuno incontro a coloro, e chi anderà, dica loro: Va bene ogni cosa?	17 The watchman standing on the tower in Jezreel saw the troop of Jehu coming and reported, "I see chariots." "Get a driver," Joram said, "and send him to meet them and to ask whether all is well."
18 Andò adunque quegli, che era salito sul cocchio, incontro a Jehu, e disse: il re manda a dirti: E' egli il tutto in pace? E Jehu disse: Che importa a te della pace? passa, e vieni dietro a me. E la sentinella diede avviso, e disse: Il messo è arrivato, dove son coloro, ma egli non torna indietro.	18 So a driver went out to meet him and said, "The king asks whether all is well." "What does it matter to you how things are?" Jehu said. "Get behind me." The watchman reported to the king, "The messenger has reached them, but is not returning."
19 E (Joram) mandò anche il secondo cocchio, e il messo arrivò presso a coloro, e disse: Il re ha detto: Abbiam noi pace? Ma Jehu disse: Che importa a te della pace? passa, e vieni dietro a me.	19 Joram sent a second driver, who went to them and said, "The king asks whether all is well." "What does it matter to you how things are?" Jehu replied. "Get behind me."
20 E la sentinella diede avviso, e disse: (Il messo) è arrivato, dove son coloro, ma egli non torna: or colui, che viene in qua sembra all'andatura Jehu figliuolo di Namsi; perocché cammina a precipizio.	20 The watchman reported, "The messenger has reached them, but is not returning. The driving is like that of Jehu, son of Nimshi, in its fury."
21 E Joram disse: Si ammannisca il cocchio. E fu ammannito il suo cocchio; e Joram re d'Israele, e Ochozia re di Giuda partirono ciascheduno sul suo cocchio, per andar incontro a Jehu, e lo trovarono nel campo di Naboth Jezraelita.	21 "Prepare my chariot," said Joram. When they had done so, Joram, king of Israel, and Ahaziah, king of Judah, set out, each in his own chariot, to meet Jehu. They reached him near the field of Naboth the Jezreelite.
22 E Joram appena vide Jehu, disse: Jehu, abbiam noi pace? Ma quegli rispose: Che pace? Le fornicazioni, e i molti venefici di Jezabele tua madre menan tuttavia gran rumore.	22 When Joram recognized Jehu, he asked, "Is all well, Jehu?" "How can all be well," Jehu replied, "as long as the many fornications and witchcrafts of your mother Jezebel continue?"
23 E Joram voltò indietro, e fuggendo disse ad Ochozia: Tradimenti, o Ochozia.	23 Joram reined about and fled, crying to Ahaziah, "Treason, Ahaziah!"
24 Ma Jehu tese il suo arco, e ferì Joram nel mezzo delle spalle, e la saetta gli usci pel cuore, e cadde subitamente sul suo cocchio.	24 But Jehu drew his bow and shot Joram between the shoulders, so that the arrow went through his heart and he collapsed in his chariot.
25 E Jehu disse a Badacer capitano: Prendilo, e gettalo nel campo di Naboth Jezraelita; perocché mi ricordo, che quando io, e tu sedendo nel cocchio andavamo dietro ad Achab padre di costui, il Signore pronuncio contro di lui questa sentenza, dicendo:	25 Then Jehu said to his adjutant Bidkar, "Take him and throw him into the field of Naboth the Jezreelite. For I remember that when we were driving teams behind his father Ahab, the LORD delivered this oracle against him:
26 Io guiro (dice il Signore), che in questo campo farò vendetta sopra di te del sangue ai Naboth, e del sangue de' suoi figliuoli, che io vidi ieri. Ora adunque prendilo, e gettalo nel campo secondo la parola del Signore.	26 'As surely as I saw yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons,' says the LORD, 'I will repay you for it in that very plot of ground, says the LORD.' So now take him into this plot of ground, in keeping with the word of the LORD."
27 Or Ochozia re di Giuda, veduto questo, fuggì per la strada della casa del giardino; e Jehu gli tenne dietro, e disse: Uccidete anche costui sul suo cocchio: e lo ferirono nella salita di Gaver, che è vicino a Jeblaam; e quegli fuggì sino a Mageddo, e ivi si morì.	27 Seeing what was happening, Ahaziah, king of Judah, fled toward Beth-haggan. Jehu pursued him, shouting, "Kill him too!" And they pierced him as he rode through the pass of Gur near Ibleam. He continued his flight as far as Megiddo and died there.
28 E i suoi servi lo posero sul suo cocchio, e lo portarono a Gerusalemme, e lo seppellirono nel sepolcro de' padri suoi nella città di Davidde.	28 His servants brought him in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in the tomb of his ancestors in the City of David.
29 L'anno undecimo di Joram figliuolo di Achab, regnò Ochozia sopra Giuda.	29 Ahaziah had become king of Judah in the eleventh year of Joram, son of Ahab.
30 E Jehu andò a Jezrael. Ma Jezabele avendo saputo il suo arrivo, si diede il belletto agli occhi, e si acconciò il capo, e stava alla finestra per vedere	30 When Jezebel learned that Jehu had arrived in Jezreel, she shadowed her eyes, adorned her hair, and looked down from her window.
31 Jehu, che entrava nella porta, e disse: Può egli aver pace Zambri, che ha ucciso il suo signore?	31 As Jehu came through the gate, she cried out, "Is all well, Zimri, murderer of your master?"
32 E Jehu alzò il capo verso la finestra, e disse: Chi è colei? E due, o tre eunuchi s'inchinarono a lui.	32 Jehu looked up to the window and shouted, "Who is on my side? Anyone?" At this, two or three eunuchs looked down toward him.
33 Ed egli disse loro: Gettatela a basso. Ed ei la gettarono; e la muraglia fu spruzzata di sangue, e gli zoccoli de' cavalli la calpestarono.	33 "Throw her down," he ordered. They threw her down, and some of her blood spurted against the wall and against the horses. Jehu rode in over her body
34 E quand' egli fu andato in casa per mangiare, e bere, disse; Andate, e abbiate cura di quella sciaurata, e seppellitela; perocché è figliuola di re.	34 and, after eating and drinking, he said: "Attend to that accursed woman and bury her; after all, she was a king's daughter."
35 Ed essendo andati quelli per seppellirla, non trovarono se non il cranio, e i piedi, e l'estremità delle mani,	35 But when they went to bury her, they found nothing of her but the skull, the feet, and the hands.
36 E tornarono a riferir ciò a Jehu, ed egli disse: Questo è quello, che il Signore disse per bocca di Elia Thesbite suo servo, allorché pronunziò: I cani mangeran le carni di Jezabele nel campo di Jezrael:	36 They returned to Jehu, and when they told him, he said, "This is the sentence which the LORD pronounced through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: 'In the confines of Jezreel dogs shall eat the flesh of Jezebel.
37 E le carni di Jezabele resteranno come sterco sopra la superficie della terra nel campo di Jezrael, talmente che i passeggieri diranno: E ella costei quella Jezabele?	37 The corpse of Jezebel shall be like dung in the field in the confines of Jezreel, so that no one can say: This was Jezebel.'"
