Seconda lettera ai Corinzi 2

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - E ho deciso meco stesso, di non venire di nuovo da voi in tristezza;	1 I made up my mind, then, that my next visit to you would not be a painful one,
2 perchè se vi contristo, o chi vi sarà a rallegrar me se non proprio chi è stato da parte mia contristato?	2 for if I cause you distress I am causing distress to my only possible source of joy.
3 E se ho scritto come ho scritto, gli è perchè non avvenga, che, al mio venire, io abbia dolore da quelli che mi avrebbero dovuto rallegrare, persuaso come sono rispetto a tutti voi, che la mia gioia è gioia di voi tutti.	3 Indeed, I wrote as I did precisely to spare myself distress when I visited you, from the very people whoshould have given me joy, in the conviction that for al of you my joy was yours too.
4 Poichè se per la grande afflizione e angustia di cuore v'ho scritto fra molte lagrime, non lo feci perchè foste rattristati, ma perchè conosceste l'amore che ho grandissimo per voi.	4 I wrote to you in agony of mind, not meaning to cause you distress but to show you how very much loveI have for you.
5 E se qualcuno ha dato dolore, non me solo rattristò ma, almeno parzialmente per non esagerare, voi tutti.	5 If anyone did cause distress, he caused it not to me, but -- not to exaggerate -- in some degree to al ofyou.
6 Or basta a quel tale questa riprensione avuta dai più,	6 The punishment already imposed by the majority was quite enough for such a person;
7 sicchè è meglio che voi ora invece gli usiate indulgenza e lo consoliate, non abbia per avventura quel tale a essere sfinito dal troppo dolore.	7 and now by contrast you should forgive and encourage him all the more, or he may be overwhelmed bythe extent of his distress.
8 Perciò vi esorto a ravvivare il vostro amore verso di lui;	8 That is why I urge you to give your love towards him definite expression.
9 ho scritto anche per questo, per conoscervi alla prova se in tutto siete obbedienti.	9 This was in fact my reason for writing, to test your quality and whether you are completely obedient.
10 A chi usate qualche indulgenza l'uso anch'io, poichè anch'io dove ho usato indulgenza, se in qualcosa l'ho fatto, l'ho fatto per vostro amore, nella persona di Cristo,	10 But if you forgive anybody, then I too forgive that person; and whatever I have forgiven, if there isanything I have forgiven, I have done it for your sake in Christ's presence,
11 per non essere sopraffatti da Satana, i cui pensieri non ignoriamo affatto.	11 to avoid being outwitted by Satan, whose scheming we know only too well.
12 Quando venni a Troade per il Vangelo di Cristo, pur essendomi aperta la porta del Signore,	12 When I came to Troas for the sake of the gospel of Christ and a door was opened for me there in theLord,
13 non ebbi requie nel mio spirito per non aver trovato Tito il mio fratello; e allora, preso congedo da loro, venni in Macedonia.	13 I had no relief from anxiety, not finding my brother Titus there, and I said goodbye to them and wenton to Macedonia.
14 E grazie siano rese a Dio che sempre ci fa trionfare in Cristo, e per voi manifesta in ogni luogo il profumo della sua conoscenza;	14 But, thanks be to God who always gives us in Christ a part in his triumphal procession, and through usis spreading everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of himself.
15 giacchè fragranza di Cristo siam noi, davanti a Dio, fra quelli che si salvano e fra quelli che periscono;	15 To God we are the fragrance of Christ, both among those who are being saved and among those whoare on the way to destruction;
16 per questi è odore che vien da morte e conduce a morte, per quelli è odore dalla vita alla vita. E a tali cose chi è adatto?	16 for these last, the smel of death leading to death, but for the first, the smel of life leading to life. Whois equal to such a task?
17 noi non siamo come i molti i quali adulterano la parola di Dio, ma, con sincerità e come da Dio, e alla presenza di Dio, in Cristo, parliamo.	17 At least we do not adulterate the word of God, as so many do, but it is in al purity, as envoys of Godand in God's presence, that we speak in Christ.
