1 - I figli di Giuda furono: Fares, Esron, Carmi, Ur e Sobal.	1 The sons of Juda: Phares, Hesron, and Charmi, and Hur, and Sobal.
2 Raia, figlio di Sobal, generò Jaat, da cui nacquero Aumai e Laad. Queste sono le famiglie dei Saratei.	2 And Raia the son of Sobal beget Jahath, of whom were born Ahumai, and Laad. These are the families of Sarathi.
3 Ecco ora la stirpe di Etam: Jezrael, Jesema, Jedebos. Il nome della sorella di costoro fu Asalelfuni,	3 And this is the posterity of Etam: Jezrahel, and Jesema, and Jedebos: and the name of their sister was Asalelphuni.
4 Fanuel poi fu padre di Gedor ed Ezer padre di Osa. Questi sono i figli di Ur, primogenito di Efrata, padre di Betleem.	4 And Phanuel the father of Gedor, and Ezar the father of Hosa, these are the sons of Hur the firstborn of Ephratha the father of Bethlehem.
5 Assur padre di Tecua aveva due mogli Alaa e Naara;	5 And Assur the father of Thecua had two wives, Halaa and Naara:
6 Naara gli generò Oozam, Efer, Temani e Aastari: questi sono i figli di Naara.	6 And Naara bore him Ozam, and Hepher, and Themani, and Ahasthari: these are the sons of Naara.
7 Invece i figli di Alaa furono: Seret, Isaar e Etnan.	7 And the sons of Halaa, Sereth, Isaar, and Ethnan.
8 Cos generò Anob e Soboba e la parentela di Aareel, figlio di Arum.	8 And Cos begot Anob, and Soboba, the kindred of Aharehel the son of Arum.
9 Jabes era il più considerato tra i suoi fratelli e la madre di lui gli aveva messo nome Jabes, perchè diceva: «L'ho generato con dolore».	9 And Jabes was more honourable than any of his brethren, and his mother called his name Jabes, saying: Because I bore him with sorrow.
10 Jabes invocò il Dio di Israele dicendo: «Oh, se tu mi benedicessi ed estendessi i miei confini e la tua mano fosse con me e facessi che io non sia oppresso dalla malizia!». E Iddio gli concesse quanto aveva domandato.	10 And Jabes called upon the God of Israel, saying: If blessing thou wilt bless me, and wilt enlarge my borders, and thy hand be with me, and thou save me from being oppressed by evil. And God granted him the things he prayed for.
11 Caleb, fratello di Sua, generò Mair, che fu padre di Eston.	11 And Caleb the brother of Sua beget Mahir, who was the father of Esthon.
12 Eston generò Betrafa, Fesse e Teinna, padre della città di Naas. Tutti costoro furono gli uomini di Reca.	12 And Esthon beget Bethrapha, and Phesse, and Tehinna father of the city of Naas: these are the men of Recha.
13 I figli di Cenez furono: Otoniel e Saraia. I figli di Otoniel: Atat e Maonati.	13 And the sons of Cenez were Othoniel,. and Saraia. And the sons of Othoniel, Hathath, and Maonathi.
14 Maonati generò Ofra; Saraia generò Joab, padre della Valle degli artefici, poichè là abitavano gli artefici.	14 Maonathi beget Ophra, and Saraia begot Joab the father of the Valley of artificers: for artificers were there.
15 I figli di Caleb figlio di Iefone furono: Ir, Ela, Naam. Figli di Ela: Cenez.	15 And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephone, were Hir, and Ela, and Naham. And the sons of Ela: Cenez.
16 Figli di Jaleleel: Zif, Zifa, Tiria e Asrael.	16 The sons also of Jaleleel: Ziph, and Zipha, Thiria, and Asrael.
17 Figli di Ezra: Jeter, Mered, Efer e Jalon. Generò pure Mariam, Sammai e Jesba, padre di Estamo.	17 And the sons of Esra, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon, and he beget Mariam, and Sammai, and Jesba the father of Esthamo.
18 Anche la moglie di costui Judaia generò Jared, padre di Gedor, Eber padre di Soco e Icutiel, padre di Zanoe. Questi poi sono figli di Betia, figlia di Faraone, sposata da Mered.	18 And his wife Judaia, bore Jared the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Icuthiel the father of Zanoe. And these are the sons of Bethia the daughter of Pharao, whom Mered took to wife.
19 E i figli della moglie Odaia, sorella di Naam, padre di Ceila: Garmi ed Estamo, il quale fu di Macati.	19 And the sons of his wife Odaia the sister of Naham the father of Celia, Garmi, and Esthamo, who was of Machathi.
20 Figli di Simon: Amnon, Rinna, figlio di Anan, e Tilon. Figli di Jesi: Zolet e Benzoet.	20 The sons also of Simon, Amnon, and Rinna the son of Hanan, and Thilon. And the sons of Jesi Zoheth, and Benzoheth.
21 Figli di Sela, figliuolo di Giuda: Er, padre di Leca, e Laada, padre di Maresa e le parentele della casa, ove si lavora il bisso nella Casa del giuramento,	21 The sons of h Sela the son of Juda: Her the father of Lecha, and Laada the father of Maresa, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen in the House of oath.
22 e Jochim e gli uomini di Cozeba, e Joas e Saraf, che dominarono in Moab, e Jasubi-Lehem. Queste cose sono antiche.	22 And he that made the sun to stand, and the men of Lying, and Secure, and Burning, who were princes in Moab, and who returned into Lahem. Now these are things of old.
23 Erano questi i lavoranti di argilla abitanti nei Giardini, e nelle Aiuole presso il re; stavano colà lavorando per il re.	23 These are the potters, and they dwelt in Plantations, and Hedges, with the king for his works, and they abode there.
24 I figli di Simeone furono: Namuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zara, Saul,	24 The sons of Simeon: Namuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zara, Saul:
25 Sellum suo figlio, Mapsam suo figlio, Masma suo figlio.	25 Sellum his son, Mapsam his son, Masma his son.
26 Figli di Masma: Amuel suo figlio, Zacur suo figlio, Semei suo figlio.	26 The sons of Masma: Hamuel his son, Zachur his son, Semei his son.
27 Semei ebbe sedici figli e sei figlie. I suoi fratelli non ebbero molti figli e tutte le loro famiglie non poterono raggiungere il numero complessivo dei figli di Giuda.	27 The sons of Semei were sixteen, and six daughters: but his brethren had not many sons, and the whole kindred could not reach to the sum of the children of Juda.
28 Essi abitarono in Bersabee, in Molada, in Asarsual,	28 And they dwelt in Bersabee, and Molada, and Hasarsuhal,
29 in Bala, in Asom, in Tolad,	29 And in Bala, and in Asom, and in Tholad,
30 in Batuel, in Orma, in Siceleg,	30 And in Bathuel, and in Horma, and in Siceleg,
31 in Betmarcabot, in Asarsusim, in Betberai e in Saarim. Furono queste le loro città fino al regno di Davide.	31 And in Bethmarchaboth, and in Hasarsusim, and in Bethberai, and in Saarim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
32 Essi avevano i villaggi di Etam, Aen, Remmon, Tochen e Asan: in tutto cinque città.	32 Their towns also were Etam, and Aen, Remmon, and Thochen, and Asan, five cities.
33 E tutti i villaggi intorno a queste città fino a Baal. Queste sono le loro dimore e la distribuzione delle loro sedi.	33 And all their villages round about these cities as far as Baal. This was their habitation, and the distribution of their dwellings.
34 Mosobab, Jemlec, Josa figlio di Amasia,	34 And Mosabab and Jemlech, and Josa, the son of Amasias,
35 Joel e Jeu figli di Josabia, figlio di Saraia, figlio di Asiel.	35 And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josabia the son of Saraia, the son of Asiel,
36 Elioenai, Jacoba, Isuaia, Asaia, Adiel, Ismiel, Banaia,	36 And Elioenai, and Jacoba, and Isuhaia, and Asaia, and Adiel, and Ismiel, and Banaia,
37 Ziza figlio di Sefei, figlio di Allon, figlio di Idaia, figlio di Semri, figlio di Samaia.	37 Ziza also the son of Sephei the son of Allon the son of Idaia the son of Semri the son of Samaia.
38 Costoro furono chiamati principi nelle loro famiglie e nella casa delle loro parentele si moltiplicarono assai.	38 These were named princes in their kindreds, and in the houses of their families were multiplied exceedingly.
39 Partirono per entrare in Gador fino all'oriente della valle e per cercare dei pascoli per i loro greggi.	39 And they went forth to enter into Gador as far as to the east side of the valley, to seek pastures for their flocks.
40 E trovarono dei pascoli abbondanti e assai buoni e un paese molto esteso e tranquillo e fertile, dove prima aveva abitato gente della stirpe di Cam.	40 And they found fat pastures, and very good, and a country spacious, and quiet, and fruitful, in which some of the race of Cham had dwelt before.
41 Costoro adunque, dei quali sopra abbiamo dato i nomi, vennero al tempo di Ezechia, re di Giuda, e assalite le loro tende e gli abitanti che si trovavano, li sterminarono fino a questo giorno e vi si stabilirono in loro vece, perchè avevano trovato colà pascoli abbondanti.	41 And these whose names are written above, came in the days of Ezechias king of Juda: and they beat down their tents, and slew the inhabitants that were found there, and utterly destroyed them unto this day: and they dwelt in their place, because they found there fat pastures.
42 Altri discendenti da Simeone in numero di cinquecento, sotto la guida di Faltia, di Naaria, di Rafaia e di Oziel figli di Jesi, andarono nel monte di Seir	42 Some also of the children of Simeon, five hundred men, went into mount Seir, having for their captains Phaltias and Naaria and Raphaia and Oziel the sons of Jesi:
43 e abbatterono i resti degli Amaleciti, che avevano potuto salvarsi, e abitarono colà in loro luogo fino a questi giorni.	43 And they slew the remnant of the Amalecites, who had been able to escape, and they dwelt there in their stead unto this day.
