BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Manasse aveva dodici anni, quando cominciò a regnare, e ne regnò in Gerusalemme cinquantacinque. Il nome della sua madre fu Afsiba.	1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for fifty-five years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Hephzibah.
2 Egli si diportò male al cospetto del Signore, abbandonandosi all'idolatria delle genti, che il Signore aveva sterminato dinanzi ai figli d'Israele.	2 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, copying the disgusting practices of the nations whom Yahwehhad dispossessed for the Israelites.
3 Tornò a riedificare gli alti luoghi, che erano stati abbattuti da Ezechia, suo padre, eresse altari a Baal, fece boschetti sacri, come aveva fatto Acab, re d'Israele, e adorò tutta la milizia dei cieli e la servì.	3 He rebuilt the high places which his father Hezekiah had destroyed, he set up altars to Baal and madea sacred pole as Ahab king of Israel had done, he worshipped the whole array of heaven and served it.
4 Costrusse anche altari nella casa del Signore, riguardo alla quale il Signore aveva detto: «Porrò il mio nome in Gerusalemme».	4 He built altars in the Temple of Yahweh of which Yahweh had said, 'Jerusalem is where I shal put myname.'
5 Fabbricò ancora altari a tutta la milizia del cielo nei due atrii del tempio del Signore;	5 He built altars to the whole array of heaven in the two courts of the Temple of Yahweh.
6 fece passare suo figlio attraverso il fuoco, si diede alle stregonerie, osservò gli auguri, istituì dei maghi, moltiplicò gli aruspici, tanto per fare male al cospetto del Signore ed irritarlo.	6 He caused his son to pass through the fire of sacrifice, he also practised soothsaying and divinationand set up mediums and spirit guides. He did very many more things displeasing to Yahweh, thus provoking hisanger.
7 Pose ancora l'idolo del bosco sacro, che egli aveva fatto, nel tempio del Signore, del quale il Signore parlò a Davide e al figliuol suo Salomone dicendo: «In questo tempio ed in Gerusalemme, che mi sono eletto tra tutte le tribù d'Israele, porrò il mio nome per sempre;	7 He had an image of Asherah carved and placed it inside the Temple of which Yahweh had said toDavid and his son Solomon, 'In this Temple and in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of al the tribes ofIsrael, I shal put my Name for ever.
8 io non permetterò più che il piede d'Israele sia smosso dalla terra data ai loro padri, purchè essi custodiscano tutto ciò che io ho loro comandato e tutta la legge che impose loro il mio servo Mosè».	8 Nor shal I ever again set Israel's footsteps wandering outside the country which I gave to theirancestors, provided they are careful to observe all I have commanded them as laid down in the whole Law whichmy servant Moses prescribed for them.'
9 Essi però non diedero ascolto e sedotti da Manasse fecero più male delle genti, che il Signore aveva sterminato dinanzi ai figli di Israele.	9 But they would not listen, and Manasseh misled them into doing worse things than the nations whomYahweh had destroyed for the Israelites.
10 Il Signore parlò allora per mezzo de' suoi servi, i profeti, in questi termini:	10 Then Yahweh spoke through his servants the prophets as fol ows,
11 «Poichè Manasse, re di Giuda, ha commesso queste gravi abominazioni e ha fatto peggio di quanto fecero gli Amorrei prima di lui, e colle sue iniquità ha indotto al peccato anche Giuda;	11 'Since Manasseh king of Judah has done these shameful deeds, doing more wicked deeds thananything which the Amorites did before him, and has led Judah too into sin with his idols,
12 perciò così dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: - Ecco io farò venire sopra Gerusalemme e sopra Giuda tante sventure, che chiunque ne udrà parlare ne avrà intronate ambedue le orecchie;	12 Yahweh, God of Israel, says this, "Look, I shall bring such disaster on Jerusalem and Judah as wilmake the ears of al who hear of it tingle.
13 e sopra Gerusalemme stenderò l'eredità toccata a Samaria e le applicherò la sentenza della casa di Acab, e distruggerò Gerusalemme, come si sogliono cancellare le tavolette; e cancellandola volgerò e rivolgerò frequentemente lo stilo, sopra la faccia sua.	13 Over Jerusalem I shal stretch the same measuring line as over Samaria, the same plumb-rule as forthe House of Ahab; I shall scour Jerusalem as someone scours a dish and, having scoured it, turns it upsidedown.
14 Abbandonerò così quel che resta della mia eredità e li abbandonerò nelle mani dei loro nemici e diverranno la devastazione e la preda di tutti i loro avversari,	14 I shal cast away the remnant of my heritage, delivering them into the clutches of their enemies andmaking them the prey and booty of al their enemies,
15 poichè han fatto il male al mio cospetto, e hanno perseverato a irritarmi dal giorno in cui uscirono i loro padri dall'Egitto fino al presente -».	15 because they have done what is displeasing to me and have provoked my anger from the day theirancestors came out of Egypt until now." '
16 Di più Manasse versò altresì moltissimo sangue innocente, fino a riempirne Gerusalemme da un capo all'altro; e ciò oltre ai peccati suoi, per i quali fece che Giuda avesse a prevaricare e commettere ogni sorta di male al cospetto del Signore.	16 Manasseh shed innocent blood, too, in such great quantity that he flooded Jerusalem from one end tothe other, besides the sins into which he led Judah by doing what is displeasing to Yahweh.
17 Il resto delle azioni di Manasse, tutto ciò che egli fece e i peccati che commise, non sono stati forse scritti nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?	17 The rest of the history of Manasseh, his entire career, the sins he committed, is this not recorded inthe Book of the Annals of the Kings of Judah?
18 Dormì Manasse coi padri suoi e fu sepolto nell'orto di sua casa, nell'orto di Oza, e Amon suo figlio regnò in sua vece.	18 Then Manasseh fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried in the garden of his palace, the Gardenof Uzza; his son Amon succeeded him.
19 Amon aveva ventidue anni quando cominciò a regnare e ne regnò due in Gerusalemme. Il nome di sua madre era Messalemet figliuola di Arus di Jeteba.	19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for two years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Meshul emeth daughter of Haruz, of Jotbah.
20 Fece male al cospetto del Signore, come l'aveva fatto Manasse, suo padre,	20 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as Manasseh his father had done.
21 e camminò per le vie, per le quali suo padre aveva camminato; venerò gli idoli, che furono da suo padre venerati e li adorò.	21 In every respect he followed the example of his father, serving the idols which his father had served,and worshipping them.
22 Abbandonò il Signore Dio de' suoi padri e non camminò nella via del Signore.	22 He abandoned Yahweh, God of his ancestors; he did not fol ow the way of Yahweh.
23 Perciò i suoi servi gli tesero insidie e uccisero il re nel suo stesso palazzo.	23 Amon's retinue plotted against the king and kil ed him in his own palace.
24 Il popolo del paese però mise a morte tutti quelli che avevan congiurato contro il re Amon e proclamò suo successore Josia, suo figlio.	24 The people of the country, however, slaughtered all those who had plotted against King Amon andproclaimed his son Josiah as his successor.
25 Il resto delle azioni di Amon, e tutto ciò che fece, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?	25 The rest of the history of Amon, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals of theKings of Judah?
26 Fu sepolto nella propria tomba, nell'orto di Oza, e Josia suo figliuolo regnò in sua vece.	26 He was buried in his father's tomb in the Garden of Uzza; his son Josiah succeeded him.
