Lettera agli Efesini 1

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Paolo, apostolo di Cristo Gesù per volontà di Dio, ai santi che sono a Èfeso credenti in Cristo Gesù:	1 Paul, by the will of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, to God's holy people, faithful in Christ Jesus.
2 grazia a voi e pace da Dio, Padre nostro, e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.	2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Benedetto Dio, Padre del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, che ci ha benedetti con ogni benedizione spirituale nei cieli in Cristo.	3 Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all the spiritual blessingsof heaven in Christ.
4 In lui ci ha scelti prima della creazione del mondo per essere santi e immacolati di fronte a lui nella carità,	4 Thus he chose us in Christ before the world was made to be holy and faultless before him in love,
5 predestinandoci a essere per lui figli adottivi mediante Gesù Cristo, secondo il disegno d’amore della sua volontà,	5 marking us out for himself beforehand, to be adopted sons, through Jesus Christ. Such was hispurpose and good pleasure,
6 a lode dello splendore della sua grazia, di cui ci ha gratificati nel Figlio amato.	6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, his free gift to us in the Beloved,
7 In lui, mediante il suo sangue, abbiamo la redenzione, il perdono delle colpe, secondo la ricchezza della sua grazia.	7 in whom, through his blood, we gain our freedom, the forgiveness of our sins. Such is the richness ofthe grace
8 Egli l’ha riversata in abbondanza su di noi con ogni sapienza e intelligenza,	8 which he has showered on us in al wisdom and insight.
9 facendoci conoscere il mistero della sua volontà, secondo la benevolenza che in lui si era proposto	9 He has let us know the mystery of his purpose, according to his good pleasure which he determinedbeforehand in Christ,
10 per il governo della pienezza dei tempi: ricondurre al Cristo, unico capo, tutte le cose, quelle nei cieli e quelle sulla terra.	10 for him to act upon when the times had run their course: that he would bring everything together underChrist, as head, everything in the heavens and everything on earth.
11 In lui siamo stati fatti anche eredi, predestinati – secondo il progetto di colui che tutto opera secondo la sua volontà –	11 And it is in him that we have received our heritage, marked out beforehand as we were, under the planof the One who guides al things as he decides by his own wil ,
12 a essere lode della sua gloria, noi, che già prima abbiamo sperato nel Cristo.	12 chosen to be, for the praise of his glory, the people who would put their hopes in Christ before hecame.
13 In lui anche voi, dopo avere ascoltato la parola della verità, il Vangelo della vostra salvezza, e avere in esso creduto, avete ricevuto il sigillo dello Spirito Santo che era stato promesso,	13 Now you too, in him, have heard the message of the truth and the gospel of your salvation, and havingput your trust in it you have been stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit of the Promise,
14 il quale è caparra della nostra eredità, in attesa della completa redenzione di coloro che Dio si è acquistato a lode della sua gloria.	14 who is the pledge of our inheritance, for the freedom of the people whom God has taken for his own,for the praise of his glory.
15 Perciò anch’io, avendo avuto notizia della vostra fede nel Signore Gesù e dell’amore che avete verso tutti i santi,	15 That is why I, having once heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus, and your love for al God's holypeople,
16 continuamente rendo grazie per voi ricordandovi nelle mie preghiere,	16 have never failed to thank God for you and to remember you in my prayers.
17 affinché il Dio del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, il Padre della gloria, vi dia uno spirito di sapienza e di rivelazione per una profonda conoscenza di lui;	17 May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a spirit of wisdom and perceptionof what is revealed, to bring you to ful knowledge of him.
18 illumini gli occhi del vostro cuore per farvi comprendere a quale speranza vi ha chiamati, quale tesoro di gloria racchiude la sua eredità fra i santi	18 May he enlighten the eyes of your mind so that you can see what hope his cal holds for you, how richis the glory of the heritage he offers among his holy people,
19 e qual è la straordinaria grandezza della sua potenza verso di noi, che crediamo, secondo l’efficacia della sua forza e del suo vigore.	19 and how extraordinarily great is the power that he has exercised for us believers; this accords with thestrength of his power
20 Egli la manifestò in Cristo, quando lo risuscitò dai morti e lo fece sedere alla sua destra nei cieli,	20 at work in Christ, the power which he exercised in raising him from the dead and enthroning him at hisright hand, in heaven,
21 al di sopra di ogni Principato e Potenza, al di sopra di ogni Forza e Dominazione e di ogni nome che viene nominato non solo nel tempo presente ma anche in quello futuro.	21 far above every principality, ruling force, power or sovereignty, or any other name that can be named,not only in this age but also in the age to come.
22 Tutto infatti egli ha messo sotto i suoi piedi e lo ha dato alla Chiesa come capo su tutte le cose:	22 He has put al things under his feet, and made him, as he is above all things, the head of the Church;
23 essa è il corpo di lui, la pienezza di colui che è il perfetto compimento di tutte le cose.	23 which is his Body, the ful ness of him who is fil ed, al in al .
