BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: «Va’ dal faraone, perché io ho indurito il cuore suo e dei suoi ministri, per compiere questi miei segni in mezzo a loro,	1 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Go to Pharaoh, for I have made him and his officials stubborn, to displaythese signs of mine among them;
2 e perché tu possa raccontare e fissare nella memoria di tuo figlio e del figlio di tuo figlio come mi sono preso gioco degli Egiziani e i segni che ho compiuti in mezzo a loro: così saprete che io sono il Signore!».	2 so that you can tel your sons and your grandsons how I made fools of the Egyptians and what signs Iperformed among them, so that you would know that I am Yahweh.'
3 Mosè e Aronne si recarono dal faraone e gli dissero: «Così dice il Signore, il Dio degli Ebrei: “Fino a quando rifiuterai di piegarti davanti a me? Lascia partire il mio popolo, perché mi possa servire.	3 Moses and Aaron then went to Pharaoh and said to him, 'Yahweh, God of the Hebrews, says this,"How much longer wil you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go and worship me.
4 Se tu rifiuti di lasciar partire il mio popolo, ecco, da domani io manderò le cavallette sul tuo territorio.	4 Or, if you refuse to let my people go, tomorrow I shall send locusts into your country.
5 Esse copriranno la superficie della terra, così che non si possa più vedere il suolo: divoreranno il poco che è stato lasciato per voi dalla grandine e divoreranno ogni albero che rispunta per voi nella campagna.	5 They wil cover the surface of the soil so that the soil cannot be seen. They wil devour the remainderof what has escaped, of what you have been left after the hail; they wil devour al your trees growing in thefields;
6 Riempiranno le tue case, le case di tutti i tuoi ministri e le case di tutti gli Egiziani, cosa che non videro i tuoi padri, né i padri dei tuoi padri, da quando furono su questo suolo fino ad oggi!”». Poi voltò le spalle e uscì dalla presenza del faraone.	6 they will fil your houses, al your officials' houses and al the Egyptians' houses -- something yourancestors and your ancestors' ancestors have never seen from the day they first appeared on earth until now." 'Then he turned on his heel and left Pharaoh's presence.
7 I ministri del faraone gli dissero: «Fino a quando costui resterà tra noi come una trappola? Lascia partire questa gente, perché serva il Signore, suo Dio! Non ti accorgi ancora che l’Egitto va in rovina?».	7 At which, Pharaoh's officials said to him, 'How much longer are we to be tricked by this fellow? Let thepeople go and worship Yahweh their God. Do you not final y realise that Egypt is on the brink of ruin?'
8 Mosè e Aronne furono richiamati presso il faraone, che disse loro: «Andate, servite il Signore, vostro Dio! Ma chi sono quelli che devono partire?».	8 So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh who said to them, 'Go and worship Yahweh yourGod. But who are to go?'
9 Mosè disse: «Partiremo noi insieme con i nostri giovani e i nostri vecchi, con i figli e le figlie, con le nostre greggi e i nostri armenti, perché per noi è una festa del Signore».	9 Moses replied, 'We shal take our young men and our old men, we shall take our sons and daughters,our flocks and our herds, since we are going to hold a feast in Yahweh's honour.'
10 Rispose: «Così sia il Signore con voi, com’è vero che io intendo lasciar partire voi e i vostri bambini! Badate però che voi avete cattive intenzioni.	10 Pharaoh said, 'So I must let you go with your wives and children! May Yahweh preserve you! Plainly,you are up to no good!
11 Così non va! Partite voi uomini e rendete culto al Signore, se davvero voi cercate questo!». E li cacciarono dalla presenza del faraone.	11 Oh no! You men may go and worship Yahweh, since that was your original request.' With that, theywere driven from Pharaoh's presence.
12 Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: «Stendi la mano sulla terra d’Egitto per far venire le cavallette: assalgano la terra d’Egitto e divorino tutta l’erba della terra, tutto quello che la grandine ha risparmiato!».	12 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand over Egypt for the locusts. Let them invade Egyptand devour whatever is growing in the country, whatever the hail has left!'
13 Mosè stese il suo bastone contro la terra d’Egitto e il Signore diresse su quella terra un vento d’oriente per tutto quel giorno e tutta la notte. Quando fu mattina, il vento d’oriente aveva portato le cavallette.	13 Moses stretched his staff over Egypt, and over the country Yahweh sent an east wind which blew althat day and night. By morning, the east wind had brought the locusts.
14 Le cavallette salirono sopra tutta la terra d’Egitto e si posarono su tutto quanto il territorio d’Egitto. Fu cosa gravissima: tante non ve n’erano mai state prima, né vi furono in seguito.	14 The locusts invaded the whole of Egypt and settled al over Egypt, in great swarms; never had therebeen so many locusts before, nor would there be again.
15 Esse coprirono tutta la superficie della terra, così che la terra ne fu oscurata; divorarono ogni erba della terra e ogni frutto d’albero che la grandine aveva risparmiato: nulla di verde rimase sugli alberi e fra le erbe dei campi in tutta la terra d’Egitto.	15 They covered the surface of the ground till the land was devastated. They devoured whatever wasgrowing in the fields and al the fruit on the trees that the hail had left. No green was left on tree or plant in thefields anywhere in Egypt.
16 Il faraone allora convocò in fretta Mosè e Aronne e disse: «Ho peccato contro il Signore, vostro Dio, e contro di voi.	16 Pharaoh sent urgently for Moses and Aaron and said, 'I have sinned against Yahweh your God andagainst you.
17 Ma ora perdonate il mio peccato anche questa volta e pregate il Signore, vostro Dio, perché almeno allontani da me questa morte!».	17 Now forgive my sin, I implore you, just this once, and entreat Yahweh your God to turn this deadlything away from me.'
18 Egli si allontanò dal faraone e pregò il Signore.	18 When Moses left Pharaoh's presence he prayed to Yahweh,
19 Il Signore cambiò la direzione del vento e lo fece soffiare dal mare con grande forza: esso portò via le cavallette e le abbatté nel Mar Rosso; non rimase neppure una cavalletta in tutta la terra d’Egitto.	19 and Yahweh changed the wind into a west wind, very strong, which carried the locusts away andswept them into the Sea of Reeds. There was not one locust left in the whole of Egypt.
20 Ma il Signore rese ostinato il cuore del faraone, il quale non lasciò partire gli Israeliti.	20 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he did not let the Israelites go.
21 Allora il Signore disse a Mosè: «Stendi la mano verso il cielo: vengano sulla terra d’Egitto tenebre, tali da potersi palpare!».	21 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'Stretch out your hand towards heaven, and let darkness, darkness sothick that it can be felt, cover Egypt.'
22 Mosè stese la mano verso il cielo: vennero dense tenebre su tutta la terra d’Egitto, per tre giorni.	22 So Moses stretched out his hand towards heaven, and for three days there was thick darkness overthe whole of Egypt.
23 Non si vedevano più l’un l’altro e per tre giorni nessuno si poté muovere dal suo posto. Ma per tutti gli Israeliti c’era luce là dove abitavano.	23 No one could see anyone else or move about for three days, but al the Israelites did have lightwhere they were living.
24 Allora il faraone convocò Mosè e disse: «Partite, servite il Signore! Solo rimangano le vostre greggi e i vostri armenti. Anche i vostri bambini potranno partire con voi».	24 Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, 'Go and worship Yahweh, but your flocks and herds are to stayhere. Your wives and children can go with you too.'
25 Rispose Mosè: «Tu stesso metterai a nostra disposizione sacrifici e olocausti, e noi li offriremo al Signore, nostro Dio.	25 Moses said, 'But now you must give us sacrifices and burnt offerings to offer to Yahweh our God.
26 Anche il nostro bestiame partirà con noi: neppure un’unghia ne resterà qui. Perché da esso noi dobbiamo prelevare le vittime per servire il Signore, nostro Dio, e noi non sapremo quel che dovremo sacrificare al Signore finché non saremo arrivati in quel luogo».	26 And our livestock will go with us too; not a hoof wil be left behind; for we may need animals fromthese to worship Yahweh our God; for until we get there we ourselves cannot tell how we are to worshipYahweh.'
27 Ma il Signore rese ostinato il cuore del faraone, il quale non volle lasciarli partire.	27 But Yahweh made Pharaoh stubborn, and he refused to let them go.
28 Gli rispose dunque il faraone: «Vattene da me! Guàrdati dal ricomparire davanti a me, perché il giorno in cui rivedrai il mio volto, morirai».	28 Pharaoh said to Moses, 'Out of my sight! Be sure you never see my face again, for the next time yousee my face you die!'
29 Mosè disse: «Hai parlato bene: non vedrò più il tuo volto!».	29 Moses then said, 'You yourself have said it. I shal never see your face again.'
