| 4 L’Ammonita e il Moabita non saranno ammessi nell’assemblea di Jahvè; neppure alla decima generazione uno dei loro discendenti sarà ammesso nell’assemblea di Jahvè, mai. | 4 No Ammonite or Moabite may be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh; not even his descendants tothe tenth generation may be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh, and this is for all time; |
| 5 Perché non vi sono venuti incontro con il pane e con l’acqua sul cammino della vostra uscita dall’Egitto e perché contro di te hanno prezzolato Balaam, elio di Beor, da Petor in Aram-Naharaim, affinché ti maledicesse. | 5 since they did not come to meet you with food and drink when you were on your way out of Egypt, andeven hired Balaam son of Beor to oppose you by cursing you, from Pethor in Aram Naharaim. |

| 11 Se tra i tuoi si trova qualcuno che non sia puro per un accidente notturno uscirà dall’accampamento e non rientrerà nell’accampamento; | 11 If any one of you is unclean by reason of a nocturnal emission, he must leave and not come backinto camp, |
| 12 ma verso sera si laverà con l’acqua e al tramonto del sole rientrerà nell’accampamento. | 12 but towards evening wash himself, and return to camp at sunset. |
| 13 Per i tuoi bisogni avrai un luogo fuori dell’accampamento, uscirai là. | 13 'You must have a latrine outside the camp, and go out to this; |
| 14 Nel tuo zaino avrai un piuolo e con esso scaverai quando avrai bisogno di sederti fuori e ricoprirai le tue sozzure. | 14 you must have a trowel in your equipment and, when you squat outside, you must scrape a hole withit, then turn round and cover up your excrement. |
| 15 Il tuo accampamento deve essere santo poiché Jahvè tuo Dio ti accompagna in mezzo al tuo accampamento per proteggerti e per mettere i tuoi nemici in tuo potere. Egli non veda presso di te alcuna indecenza: non ti seguirebbe più. | 15 For Yahweh your God goes about the inside of your camp to guard you and put your enemies at yourmercy. Your camp must therefore be a holy place; Yahweh must not see anything indecent there or he willdesert you. |
| 16 Non consegnerai al padrone uno schiavo che gli sia fuggito per salvarsi presso di te. | 16 'You must not allow a master to imprison a slave who has escaped from him and come to you. |
| 17 Abiterà con te, insieme con i tuoi, nel luogo ce avrà scelto, in una delle tue città dove si troverà bene: non devi opprimerlo, | 17 Let him make his home with you and yours, wherever he pleases in whichever of your towns heprefers; you must not molest him. |
| 18 Tra le figlie di Israele non ci sarà alcuna prostituta sacra né alcun prostituto sacro tra i figli di Israele. | 18 'There must be no sacred prostitute among the women of Israel, and no sacred prostitute among themen of Israel. |
| 19 Qualunque voto tu abbia fatto, non porterai alla casa di Jahvè tuo Dio il salario di una prostituta né il prezzo che riceve un cane: poiché tutti e due, salario e prezzo, sono un abominio per Jahvè tuo Dio. | 19 You must not bring the wages of a prostitute or the earnings of a 'dog' to the house of Yahweh yourGod, whatever vow you may have made: both are detestable to Yahweh your God. |
| 20 Da tuo fratello non esigerai nessun interesse: né interesse per denaro né interesse per viveri né interesse per qualsiasi altra cosa per cui si suole esigere l’interesse. | 20 'You must not lend on interest to your brother, whether the loan be of money, of food, or of anythingelse that may earn interest. |
| 21 Dallo straniero potrai esigere l’interesse ma non da tuo fratello, affinché Jahvè tuo Dio ti i possa benedire in ogni impresa delle tue mani sulla terra della quale tu stai per entrare in possesso. | 21 You may demand interest on a loan to a foreigner, but you must not demand interest from yourbrother; so that Yahweh your God may bless you in al your labours, in the country which you are about to enterand make your own. |
| 22 Quando farai un voto a Jahvè tuo Dio, non ne dilazionerai l’adempimento. Poiché certamente Jahvè tuo Dio lo esigerà da te e in te ci sarebbe un peccato. | 22 'If you make a vow to Yahweh your God, you must not be slack about fulfil ing it: Yahweh your Godwil certainly hold you answerable for it and you wil incur guilt. |
| 23 Ma se tu ti asterrai dal fare un voto, non ci sarà in te nessun peccato. | 23 If, however, you make no vow, you do not incur guilt. |
| 24 Osserva ed eseguisci quanto esce dalle tue labbra, come spontaneamente hai fatto voto a Jahvè tuo Dio di ciò che ha promesso la tua bocca. | 24 Whatever passes your lips you must keep to, and the vow that you have made to Yahweh, yourgenerous God, you must fulfil. |
| 25 Quando entrerai nella vigna del tuo prossimo, potrai mangiare uva secondo il tuo appetito, a sazietà. Ma non ne metterai nel tuo paniere. | 25 'If you go into your neighbour's vineyard, you may eat as many grapes as you please, but you mustnot put any in your basket. |
| 26 Quando entrerai tra il frumento del tuo prossimo, potrai cogliere spighe con la tua mano. Ma non agiterai la falce nel frumento del tuo prossimo». | 26 If you go into your neighbour's standing corn, you may pick ears by hand, but you must not put asickle into your neighbour's corn.' |
