1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:	1 Bildad de Suás disse então nestes termos:
2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.	2 “Quando acabarás de falar a esmo? Terás a sabedoria de nos dizer depois!
3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?	3 Por que nos consideras como animais, e por que passamos por estúpidos a teus olhos?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?	4 Tu, que te rasgas em teu furor, por tua causa a terra ficará abandonada e o rochedo mudará de lugar?
5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.	5 Sim, a luz do ímpio se apagará e a chama de seu fogo cessará de alumiar.
6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.	6 A luz obscurece na sua tenda e sua lâmpada sobre ele se apagará.
7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.	7 Seus passos, antes firmes, serão encurtados, e seus próprios desígnios os farão tropeçar.
8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.	8 Seus pés se prendem numa rede, e ele anda sobre malhas.
9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.	9 A armadilha agarra seu calcanhar e o alçapão o aperta.
10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.	10 Uma corda se esconde na terra para pegá-lo, e uma armadilha, ao longo da vereda.
11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.	11 De todas as partes temores o amedrontam e o perseguem passo a passo.
12 Disaster is ready at his side,	12 A calamidade vem faminta sobre ele e a infelicidade está alerta ao seu lado.
13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.	13 A pele de seu corpo é devorada, o filho mais velho da morte devora-lhe os membros.
14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;	14 É arrancado da tenda, onde se sentia seguro, levam-no ao rei dos terrores.
15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.	15 Podes estabelecer-te em sua tenda, que não mais existe; o enxofre é espalhado em seu domínio.
16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.	16 Por baixo suas raízes secam, e por cima seus ramos definham.
17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.	17 Sua memória apaga-se da terra, nada mais lembra o seu nome na região.
18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.	18 É arrojado da luz para as trevas e é desterrado do mundo.
19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.	19 Não tem descendente nem posteridade em sua tribo, nem sobrevivente algum em sua morada.
20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.	20 O Ocidente está estupefato com sua sorte e o Oriente treme diante dela.
21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!	21 Eis o que acontece com as tendas dos ímpios, os lugares habitados pelo homem que não conhece a Deus”.
