1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:	1 Allora Bildad il suchita prese la parola e disse:
2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.	2 "Fino a quando andrai a caccia di parole? Rifletti e poi parleremo!
3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?	3 Perché siamo considerati come bestie e passiamo per degli idioti ai tuoi occhi?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?	4 Tu che ti rodi nella tua rabbia, forse che a causa tua la terra sarà abbandonata, o che la roccia si staccherà dal suo posto?
5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.	5 Sì, la luce del malvagio si spegne e la fiamma del suo focolare non brilla più.
6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.	6 Si oscura la luce nella sua tenda e la lucerna si estingue sopra di lui.
7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.	7 I suoi passi vigorosi si accorciano, i suoi progetti lo fanno stramazzare.
8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.	8 Infatti, con i suoi piedi incappa nella rete e cammina sopra un tranello.
9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.	9 Un laccio lo afferra per il tallone, un nodo lo stringe intorno.
10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.	10 Gli è nascosta per terra una fune e una trappola sul sentiero.
11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.	11 Da ogni parte lo atterriscono gli spaventi e gli si mettono alle calcagna.
12 Disaster is ready at his side,	12 La sua ricchezza si muta in fame e la sfortuna gli si mette a fianco.
13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.	13 La sua pelle è corrosa dalla malattia; il primogenito della Morte gli consuma le membra.
14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;	14 E' strappato dalla sua tenda dove si sentiva sicuro, per essere trascinato dal Re dei terrori.
15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.	15 Il fuoco è posto nella sua tenda; nella sua dimora si sparge lo zolfo.
16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.	16 In basso le sue radici si seccheranno; sopra saranno tagliati i suoi rami.
17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.	17 Il suo ricordo è sparito dalla terra e il suo nome non si udrà più nella contrada.
18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.	18 Lo cacceranno dalla luce alle tenebre e lo bandiranno dall'universo.
19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.	19 Non avrà né figli né discendenza tra il suo popolo; non vi sarà superstite nella sua dimora.
20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.	20 Della sua fine stupirà l'Occidente e l'Oriente sarà preso dal brivido.
21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!	21 Ecco qual è la sorte dell'empio; tale è il destino di chi misconosce Dio".
