1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:	1 E BILDAD Suhita rispose, e disse:
2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.	2 Fino a quando non metterete fine a’ ragionamenti? Intendete prima, e poi parleremo insieme.
3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?	3 Perchè siamo noi riputati per bestie? E perchè ci avete voi a schifo?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?	4 O tu, che laceri l’anima tua nel tuo cruccio, Sarà la terra abbandonata per cagion tua, E saranno le roccie trasportate dal luogo loro?
5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.	5 Sì, la luce degli empi sarà spenta, E niuna favilla del fuoco loro rilucerà.
6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.	6 La luce sarà oscurata nel lor tabernacolo. E la lor lampana sarà spenta intorno a loro.
7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.	7 I lor fieri passi saran ristretti, E il lor proprio consiglio li traboccherà abbasso;
8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.	8 Perciocchè essi si gitteranno nel laccio co’ piedi loro, E cammineranno sopra la rete.
9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.	9 Il laccio prenderà loro il calcagno, Il ladrone farà loro forza e violenza.
10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.	10 La fune sarà loro nascosta in terra, E la trappola in sul sentiero
11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.	11 Spaventi li conturberanno d’ogn’intorno, E li faranno fuggire in rotta.
12 Disaster is ready at his side,	12 La lor forza sarà affamata, E la calamità sarà loro apparecchiata allato.
13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.	13 Il primogenito della morte divorerà le membra della lor pelle; Divorerà le membra loro.
14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;	14 La lor confidanza sarà divelta dal lor tabernacolo; E ciò li farà camminare al re degli spaventi.
15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.	15 Abiteranno ne’ lor tabernacoli che non saranno più loro; Ei si spargerà del solfo in su le loro stanze.
16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.	16 Disotto le lor radici si seccheranno, E disopra i lor rami saranno tagliati.
17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.	17 La lor memoria perirà d’in su la terra, E non avranno nome alcuno sopra le piazze.
18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.	18 Saranno spinti dalla luce nelle tenebre, E saranno cacciati fuor del mondo.
19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.	19 Non avranno figliuoli, nè nipoti fra il lor popolo, Nè alcuno che sopravviva loro nelle loro abitazioni.
20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.	20 La posterità stupirà del lor giorno, Come gli antenati ne avranno avuto orrore.
21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!	21 Certo tali saranno gli abitacoli de’ perversi, E tal sarà il luogo di coloro che non conoscono Iddio
