NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:	1 Bildad de Súaj respondió, diciendo:
2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.	2 ¿Hasta cuándo nos impedirás hablar? Reflexiona, y luego hablaremos.
3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?	3 ¿Por qué seremos tenidos por animales y pasaremos por torpes ante tus ojos?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?	4 Tú, que te desgarras en tu enojo: ¿acaso la tierra quedará desierta por tu causa o la roca será removida de su sitio?
5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.	5 Sí, la luz del malvado se extingue y la llama de su fuego no brilla más.
6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.	6 La luz se oscurece en su carpa y su lámpara se apaga sobre él.
7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.	7 Se acortan sus pasos vigorosos, su propio designio lo hace tropezar.
8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.	8 Porque sus pies lo meten en una trampa y va caminando entre redes:
9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.	9 un lazo le aprisiona el talón y un cepo se cierra sobre él.
10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.	10 Lo espera una cuerda oculta en el suelo y una trampa tendida sobre el camino.
11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.	11 Lo asaltan terrores por todas partes y lo amenazan a cada paso.
12 Disaster is ready at his side,	12 Su vigor se convierte en hambre y la ruina permanece a su lado;
13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.	13 la enfermedad corroe su piel, el Primogénito de la Muerte devora sus miembros.
14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;	14 Lo arrancan de la seguridad de su carpa y lo llevan ante el Rey de los terrores.
15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.	15 El fuego se instala en su carpa y se esparce azufre sobre su morada.
16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.	16 Por debajo se secan sus raíces y por arriba se marchita su ramaje.
17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.	17 Su recuerdo desaparece de la tierra y se borra su nombre en la región.
18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.	18 Lo arrojan de la luz a las tinieblas y lo arrastran fuera del mundo.
19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.	19 No tiene estirpe ni posteridad en su pueblo, no quedan sobrevivientes donde él habitaba.
20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.	20 El Occidente se estremece por su destino y el Oriente es presa del horror.
21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!	21 Sí, tales son las moradas del injusto, este es el lugar del que no conoce a Dios.
