1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied and said:	1 Riprese a parlare Baldad Suhite, e disse:
2 When will you put an end to words? Reflect, and then we can have discussion.	2 « Fino a quando getterete via le parole? Mettete giudizio e poi parleremo.
3 Why are we accounted like the beasts, their equals in your sight?	3 Perchè trattarci come giumenti e considerarci come immondezze?
4 You who tear yourself in your anger, shall the earth be neglected on your account (or the rock be moved out of its place)?	4 O tu, che rovini l'anima tua nel tuo furore, dovrà per causa tua esser abbandonata la terra e dal loro posto trasportate le rupi?
5 Truly, the light of the wicked is extinguished; no flame brightens his hearth.	5 Non è forse vero che la luce dell'empio deve spegnersi, che la fiamma del suo focolare non farà lume?
6 The light is darkened in his tent; in spite of him, his lamp goes out.	6 Si oscurerà il lume nella sua tenda e la lucerna che sta sopra di lui sarà spenta.
7 His vigorous steps are hemmed in, and his own counsel casts him down.	7 I passi della sua potenza saranno raccorciati, i suoi disegni lo getteranno in un precipizio.
8 For he rushes headlong into a net, and he wanders into a pitfall.	8 Va a mettere i suoi piedi in una rete e cammina sulle sue maglie;
9 A trap seizes him by the heel, and a snare lays hold of him.	9 il suo piede sarà preso al laccio. Una sete ardente lo consumerà.
10 A noose for him is hid on the ground, and the toils for him on the way.	10 Il laccio gli sta steso per terra e la trappola sul sentiero.
11 On every side terrors affright him; they harry him at each step.	11 Da ogni parte lo atterriranno gli spaventi, gli avvilupperanno i piedi.
12 Disaster is ready at his side,	12 Venga meno dalla fame la sua forza e l'inedia gli stia alle costole.
13 the first-born of death consumes his limbs.	13 Divori la bellezza della sua pelle, consumi le sue braccia la morte primogenita.
14 Fiery destruction lodges in his tent, and marches him off to the king of terrors. He is plucked from the security of his tent;	14 Sia strappato dalla sua tenda, in cui era sicuro, e lo calpesti come un re la morte.
15 over his abode brimstone is scattered.	15 Scomparso lui, ne occupino la tenda i suoi compagni, e nella sua dimora sia sparso lo zolfo,
16 Below, his roots dry up, and above, his branches wither.	16 di sotto gli secchino le radici, di sopra gli sian tagliati i rami.
17 His memory perishes from the land, and he has no name on the earth.	17 Sparisca dalla terra la sua memoria, il suo nome non sia rammentato sulle piazze.
18 He is driven from light into darkness, and banished out of the world.	18 Sia cacciato dalla luce nelle tenebre, portato via dal mondo,
19 He has neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any survior where once he dwelt.	19 non avrà nè discendenza nè famiglia nel suo popolo, nè superstite nella sua patria.
20 They who come after shall be appalled at his fate; they who went before are struck with horror.	20 Pel suo giorno stupiranno gli ultimi, e i primi saranno invasi dal terrore.
21 So is it then with the dwelling of the impious man, and such is the place of him who knows not God!	21 Così va a finire la casa dell'empio, tale è la sorte di chi ignora Dio ».
