Osea 12

BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ephraim si pasce di vento, e va a respirare un'aura ardente; tuttodì accumula le sue menzogne, e le ragioni di sua rovina: ed ha fatta confederazione cogli Assirj, ed ha portato il suo olio in Egitto.	1 Ephraim besieges me with lying, the House of Israel with duplicity. (But Judah stil is on God's side, heis faithful to the Holy One.)
2 Or il Signore verrà a giudizio con Giuda, e visiterà Giacobbe: e renderà a lui mercede secondo le opere sue, e secondo le sue invenzioni.	2 Ephraim feeds himself on wind, all day he chases the wind from the East, he heaps up cheating andviolence; they make a treaty with Assyria, at the same time sending oil to Egypt.
3 Giacobbe nel sen materno supplantò il fratello, e colla sua fortezza lottò coll'Angelo.	3 Yahweh has a case against Judah, he will punish Jacob as his conduct merits, he will repay him as hisdeeds deserve.
4 E fu superiore all'Angelo, e vinse: e con lagrime a lui si raccomandò. Egli lo trovò a Bethel, ed ivi quegli parlò a noi.	4 In the very womb he overreached his brother, in maturity he wrestled against God.
5 E il Signore egli è il Dio degli eserciti; il Signore ebbe egli in memoria.	5 He wrestled with the angel and beat him, he wept and pleaded with him. He met him at Bethel andthere God spoke to us-
6 Or tu convertiti al tuo Dio, osserva la misericordia, e la giustizia, e spera sempre nel Dio tuo.	6 yes, Yahweh, God Sabaoth, Yahweh is his title!
7 Ma questo Chananeo ha nelle sue mani una falsa stadera, egli ama di soverchiare.	7 So turn back with God's help, maintain faithful love and loyalty and always put your trust in your God.
8 Ma Ephraim va dicendo: Io pero mi son fatto ricco, mi sono acquistato un idolo: non si troverà, che in tutte le mie fatiche io abbia commessa ingiustizia.	8 Merchants use fraudulent scales. To defraud is his delight.
9 Io però fin dalla terra d'Egitto sono il Signore Dio tuo; farò, che tuttora tu ti stia nelle tue tende, come nei giorni di quella solennità.	9 'How rich I have become!' says Ephraim, 'I have made a fortune.' But of al his gains he wil keepnothing because of the sin of which he is guilty.
10 Io son quegli, che ho parlato a' profeti, moltiplicai le loro visioni, e me stesso dipinsi per mezzo de' profeti.	10 But I have been Yahweh your God since your days in Egypt and will make you live in tents again asin the days of Meeting.
11 Se quel di Galaad fu un idolo, dunque in vano s'immolavan de' bovi a Galgal, dappoiché già gli altari di quelli son come que' mucchi di sassi, che son sui solchi del campo.	11 I will speak through prophets, I will give vision after vision and through the ministry of prophets wilspeak in parables.
12 Si fuggì Giacobbe nel paese della Siria, e Israele servi per una moglie, e fu guardiano di pecore perun' altra moglie.	12 Is Gilead a sink of iniquity? Yes, they are a worthless lot! At Gilgal they sacrifice to bulls, that is whytheir altars are like heaps of stones in a ploughed field.
13 Indi il Signore trasse Israele dall'Egitto per mezzo di un profeta, e salvollo per mezzo di un profeta.	13 Jacob fled to the countryside of Aram, Israel slaved to win a wife, to win a wife he looked after sheep.
14 Ephraim con fieri disgusti a sdegno mi provocò; sopra di fui caderà il suo sangue, e il suo Signore renderà a lui gl'insulti, che ad esso egli fece.	14 By a prophet Yahweh brought Israel out of Egypt and by a prophet Israel was preserved.
	15 Ephraim gave bitter provocation- Yahweh will bring his bloodshed down on him, his Lord wil repayhim for his insult.
