| 1 Ecco che il giorno verrà come ardente fornace: tutti i superbi e tutti gli empi saranno stoppie, e quel giorno, quando viene, li brucerà senza lasciare in loro nè radici, nè polloni. | 1 "For behold, the day comes, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble; the day that comes shall burn them up, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. |
| 2 Invece per voi che temete il mio nome, allora spunterà il Sole di giustizia, sotto le ali del quale sta la salute, e voi saltellerete come vitelli di armento; | 2 But for you who fear my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go forth leaping like calves from the stall. |
| 3 e calpesterete gli empi, diventati cenere sotto le piante dei vostri piedi, nel giorno in cui agirò io — dice il Signore degli eserciti. | 3 And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the LORD of hosts. |
| 4 Ricordatevi della legge di Mosè mio servo, ai quale io la detti sull'Oreb per tutto Israele, coi miei precetti e comandamenti. | 4 "Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and ordinances that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel. |
| 5 Ecco, io manderò a voi il profeta Elia, avanti che venga il giorno grande e tremendo del Signore. | 5 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. |
| 6 Egli farà tornare il cuore dei padri verso i figli, e il cuore dei figli verso i padri, chè io non venga e non stermini la terra. | 6 And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the land with a curse." |
