1 Parola del Signore a carico d'Israele per mezzo di Malachia.	1 The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.
2 Io vi ho amati — dice il Signore — e voi dite: « In che ci hai amati? » Esaù non era fratello di Giacobbe? — dice il Signore. Ed io amai Giacobbe,	2 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
3 e odiai Esaù: — ho abbandonato alla solitudine i suoi monti, la sua eredità ai dragoni del deserto.	3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
4 E se dirà l'Idumea: « Siamo stati distrutti, ma torneremo a rialzare le rovine » ecco quanto dice il Signore degli eserciti: « Essi a edificare, e io a distruggere; e saran chiamati: regione di empietà, popolo contro il quale il Signore è sdegnato in eterno.	4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.
5 Quando i vostri occhi l'avran veduto direte: « Sia glorificato il Signore nella terra d'Israele ». Dio abolisce gli antichi sacrifizi e vi sostituisce la Messa.	5 And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.
6 Il figlio onora il padre, il servo il padrone. Or se io son padre, dov'è l'onore a me dovuto? E se sono il Signore, dov'è la riverenza? — dice il Signore degli eserciti. — A voi (dico), o sacerdoti, che disprezzate il mio nome e dite: « In che abbiamo disprezzato il tuo nome? »	6 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?
7 Voi offrite sul mio altare pane immondo, e poi dite: « In che t'abbiamo contaminato? » in questo che dite: « La mensa del Signore è cosa vile ».	7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.
8 Se offriste in sacrifizio un animale cieco, non sarebbe un male? e se uno zoppo, uno malato, non sarebbe un male? Offrilo al tuo governatore: lo gradirà? ti riceverà? — dice il Signore degli eserciti. —	8 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
9 Ed ora pregate il Signore ad avere pietà di voi, dopo aver fatto questo, per vedere se vi accoglie — dice il Signore degli eserciti.	9 And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.
10 Chi è tra voi che chiuda le porte e accenda il fuoco sul mio altare gratuitamente? Non mi piacete più — dice il Signore degli eserciti, — non accetterò più doni dalla vostra mano;	10 Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
11 perchè da levante a ponente il mio nome è grande fra le nazioni, e in ogni luogo, si sacrifica e si offre al mio nome un'ostia pura, perchè grande è il mio nome tra le nazioni dice il Signore degli eserciti.	11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.
12 Ma voi l'avete profanato con dire: « La mensa del Signore è contaminata, e quello che vi si mette sopra è cosa vile col fuoco che lo consuma ».	12 But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.
13 E voi dite: « Ecco il nostro lavoro! » e vi soffiate sopra dice il Signore degli eserciti — e delle (vostre) rapine portate ciò che è zoppo, ciò che è malato, e lo portate come offerta. Ed io potrò accettare queste coso dallo vostre mani? — dice il Signore.	13 Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
14 Maledetto l'ingannatore che, avendo nel suo gregge un maschio, e avendo fatto un voto, offre al Signore un animale malato: perchè io sono il gran re — dice il Signore degli eserciti — e il mio nome è tremendo tra le nazioni.	14 But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen.
