1 -Tutto Israele fu contato e la somma di tutti venne inscritta nel Libro dei re d'Israele e di Giuda; ed essi furono trasferiti in Babilonia in pena del loro delitto.	1 So all Israel was enrolled by genealogies; and these are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. And Judah was taken into exile in Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
2 I primi che abitarono nei loro possedimenti e nelle loro città furono Israele, i sacerdoti, i leviti e i Natinei.	2 Now the first to dwell again in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants.

Tutti costoro erano capi di famiglia nelle case dei loro padri.	9 and their kinsmen according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty-six. All these were heads of fathers' houses according to their fathers' houses.
10 Dei sacerdoti poi [vi abitarono]: Jedaia, Joiarib e Jachin;	10 Of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin,
11 poi Azaria, figlio di Elcia, figlio di Mosollam, figlio di Sadoc, figlio di Maraiot, figlio di Achitob pontefice della casa di Dio.	11 and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, the chief officer of the house of God;
12 Inoltre Adaia, figlio di Jeroam, figlio di Fassur, figlio di Melchia; e Maasai, figlio di Adìel, figlio di Jezra, figlio di Mosollam, figlio di Mosollamit, figlio di Emmer;	12 and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, son of Pashhur, son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adi-el, son of Jahzerah, son of Meshullam, son of Meshillemith, son of Immer;
13 e ancora i loro fratelli principi delle loro famiglie in numero di millesettecentosessanta uomini robusti e vigorosi nel compiere il servizio nella casa di Dio.	13 besides their kinsmen, heads of their fathers' houses, one thousand seven hundred and sixty, very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.
14 Dei leviti [abitarono]: Semeia, figlio di Assub, figlio di Ezricam, figlio di Asebia, appartenenti ai figli di Merari.	14 Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;
15 Bacbacar il falegname, Galal, Matania, figlio di Mica, figlio di Zecri, figlio di Asaf,	15 and Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, son of Zichri, son of Asaph;

17 Inoltre i portieri: Sellum, Accub, Telmon e Aimam; il loro fratello Sellum era loro principe.	17 The gatekeepers were: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their kinsmen (Shallum being the chief),

19 Sellum poi figlio di Core, figlio di Abiasaf, figlio di Core, coi suoi fratelli e con quelli della casa del padre suo, vale a dire coi Coriti, attendeva all'ufficio del ministero di custode dei vestiboli e del tabernacolo; e le loro famiglie si alternavano per custodire l'ingresso dell'accampamento del Signore,	19 Shallum the son of Kore, son of Ebiasaph, son of Korah, and his kinsmen of his fathers' house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent, as their fathers had been in charge of the camp of the LORD, keepers of the entrance.
20 mentre Finees, figlio di Eleazaro, era il loro capo dinanzi al Signore.	20 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the ruler over them in time past; the LORD was with him.
21 Zaccaria, figlio di Mosollamia, era portiere della porta del tabernacolo dell'alleanza;	21 Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the tent of meeting.

25 I loro fratelli abitavano nei villaggi e venivano nei sabati loro assegnati da un tempo all'altro.	25 and their kinsmen who were in their villages were obliged to come in every seven days, from time to time, to be with these;
26 A questi quattro leviti era affidato il numero dei portieri, e avevano ancora la sorveglianza sopra le camere e i tesori della casa del Signore.	26 for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were in charge of the chambers and the treasures of the house of God.
27 Essi dimoravano anche tutt'intorno al tempio del Signore nei loro luoghi di guardia, e al tempo opportuno, al mattino, aprivano le porte.	27 And they lodged round about the house of God; for upon them lay the duty of watching, and they had charge of opening it every morning.

35 In Gabaon poi abitarono Jeiel il padre di Gabaon, la cui moglie si chiamava Maaca,	35 In Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, Je-iel, and the name of his wife was Maacah,
36 e Abdon, suo figlio primogenito, inoltre Sur, Cis, Baal, Ner, Nadab,	36 and his first-born son Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
37 Gedor, Aio, Zaccaria e Macellot.	37 Gedor, Ahio, Zech-ariah and Mikloth;
38 Macellot generò Samaan. Costoro abitarono in Gerusalemme coi loro fratelli dalla parte opposta di essi.	38 and Mikloth was the father of Shime-am; and these also dwelt opposite their kinsmen in Jerusalem, with their kinsmen.
39 Ner poi generò Cis e Cis generò Saul, Saul generò Jonatan, Melchisua, Abinadab ed Esbaal.	39 Ner was the father of Kish, Kish of Saul, Saul of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal;
40 Il figlio poi di Jonatan fu Meribbaal e Meribbaal generò Mica.	40 and the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal was the father of Micah.
41 I figli di Mica furono: Fiton, Meloc, Taraa e Aaz.	41 The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahre-a, and Ahaz;
42 Aaz generò Jara e Jara generò Alamat, Azmot e Zamri; Zamri generò Mosa;	42 and Ahaz was the father of Jarah, and Jarah of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri was the father of Moza.
43 Mosa generò Banaa, il cui figlio Rafaia generò Elasa, da cui nacque Asel.	43 Moza was the father of Bine-a; and Rephaiah was his son, Ele-asah his son, Azel his son.
44 Asel poi ebbe dei figliuoli così chiamati: Ezricam, Bocru, Ismael, Saria, Obdia, Anan. Costoro furono figli di Asel.	44 Azel had six sons and these are their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, She-ariah, Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel.
