Primo libro delle Cronache 14

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 - Iram, re di Tiro, mandò a Davide messaggeri e legna di cedro e artigiani per fabbricare pareti e lavorare il legno, affinchè edificassero per lui una casa.	1 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, stone-cutters and carpenters, to build hima palace.
2 Conobbe Davide che il Signore l'aveva confermato re d'Israele e che avrebbe innalzato il suo regno al disopra del suo popolo Israele.	2 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his people, hadextended his sovereignty.
3 Davide si prese ancora a Gerusalemme altre mogli e generò figli e figlie.	3 David took more wives in Jerusalem and fathered more sons and daughters.
4 Ecco i nomi di quelli che gli nacquero in Gerusalemme: Samua, Sobad, Natan, Salomone,	4 These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 Jebaar, Elisua, Elifalet,	5 Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6 Noga, Nafeg, Jafia,	6 Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7 Elisama, Baaliada e Elifalet.	7 Elishama, Beeliada, Eliphelet.
8 Avendo inteso i Filistei che Davide era stato consacrato re sopra tutto Israele, salirono tutti in cerca di lui; il che avendo udito Davide, uscì incontro a loro.	8 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of al Israel, they al invaded to seekhim out. On hearing this, David marched out towards them.
9 I Filistei vennero e si sparsero nella valle di Rafaim	9 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.
10 e Davide consultò il Signore dicendo: «Salirò io contro i Filistei? Me li darai tu nelle mani?». Il Signore gli rispose: «Sali, e io li darò in tua mano».	10 David consulted God and asked, 'Shall I attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my power?'Yahweh replied to him, 'Attack! I shal deliver them into your power.'
11 Essendo essi venuti in Baalfarasim, Davide ve li battè e disse: «Iddio ha disperso con la mia mano i miei nemici come si disperdono le acque». E perciò a quel luogo fu dato il nome di Baalfarasim.	11 Accordingly, they went up to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. David said, 'Through meGod has made a breach in my enemies, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the placewas given the name Baal-Perazim.
12 Essi aveano abbandonato colà i loro dèi, che Davide comandò di abbruciare.	12 They had left their gods behind there, and David ordered them to be burnt.
13 Anche un'altra volta i Filistei fecero una irruzione e si sparsero nella valle.	13 Again the Philistines deployed in the valley.
14 Davide consultò Iddio, e Dio gli disse: «Non salire dietro ad essi, ma allontanati da loro e va' contro essi dalla parte opposta dei peri.	14 David again consulted God, and God replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round andengage them opposite the balsam trees.
15 Quando sentirai il rumore di chi cammina sopra le cime dei peri, allora moverai all'attacco. Poichè Iddio è uscito dinanzi a te, perchè tu abbia a colpire l'accampamento dei Filistei».	15 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, launch your attack, for that willbe God going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'
16 Davide fece quanto Dio gli avea comandato e percosse l'accampamento dei Filistei da Gabaon fino a Gazera.	16 David did as God had ordered, and they beat the Philistine army from Gibeon to Gezer.
17 La fama di Davide si sparse in tutte quelle regioni e il Signore lo rese temibile a tutte le genti.	17 David's fame then spread to every country, and Yahweh made him feared by every nation.
