LXX	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ζυγοι δολιοι βδελυγμα ενωπιον κυριου σταθμιον δε δικαιον δεκτον αυτω	1 A false balance is abhorrent to Yahweh, a just weight is pleasing to him.
2 ου εαν εισελθη υβρις εκει και ατιμια στομα δε ταπεινων μελετα σοφιαν	2 Pride comes first; disgrace soon fol ows; with the humble is wisdom found.
3 αποθανων δικαιος ελιπεν μεταμελον προχειρος δε γινεται και επιχαρτος ασεβων απωλεια	3 The honest have their own honesty for guidance, the treacherous are ruined by their own perfidy.
4 -	4 In the day of retribution riches wil be useless, but uprightness delivers from death.
5 δικαιοσυνη αμωμους ορθοτομει οδους ασεβεια δε περιπιπτει αδικια	5 The uprightness of the good makes their way straight, the wicked fal by their own wickedness.
6 δικαιοσυνη ανδρων ορθων ρυεται αυτους τη δε απωλεια αυτων αλισκονται παρανομοι	6 Their uprightness sets the honest free, the treacherous are imprisoned by their own desires.
7 τελευτησαντος ανδρος δικαιου ουκ ολλυται ελπις το δε καυχημα των ασεβων ολλυται	7 The hope of the wicked perishes with death, hope placed in riches comes to nothing.
8 δικαιος εκ θηρας εκδυνει αντ' αυτου δε παραδιδοται ο ασεβης	8 The upright escapes affliction, the wicked incurs it instead.
9 εν στοματι ασεβων παγις πολιταις αισθησις δε δικαιων ευοδος	9 Through his mouth the godless is the ruin of his neighbour, but by knowledge the upright aresafeguarded.
10 εν αγαθοις δικαιων κατωρθωσεν πολις	10 When the upright prosper the city rejoices, when the wicked are ruined there is a shout of joy.
11 στομασιν δε ασεβων κατεσκαφη	11 A city is raised on the blessing of the honest, and demolished by the mouth of the wicked.
12 μυκτηριζει πολιτας ενδεης φρενων ανηρ δε φρονιμος ησυχιαν αγει	12 Whoever looks down on a neighbour lacks good sense; the intelligent keeps a check on the tongue.
13 ανηρ διγλωσσος αποκαλυπτει βουλας εν συνεδριω πιστος δε πνοη κρυπτει πραγματα	13 A tittle-tattler lets secrets out, the trustworthy keeps things hidden.
14 οις μη υπαρχει κυβερνησις πιπτουσιν ωσπερ φυλλα σωτηρια δε υπαρχει εν πολλη βουλη	14 For want of leadership a people perishes, safety lies in many advisers.
15 πονηρος κακοποιει οταν συμμειξη δικαιω μισει δε ηχον ασφαλειας	15 Whoever goes bail for a stranger does himself harm, but one who shuns going surety is safe.
16 γυνη ευχαριστος εγειρει ανδρι δοξαν θρονος δε ατιμιας γυνη μισουσα δικαια πλουτου οκνηροι ενδεεις γινονται οι δε ανδρειοι ερειδονται πλουτω	16 A gracious woman acquires honour, violent people acquire wealth.
17 τη ψυχη αυτου αγαθον ποιει ανηρ ελεημων εξολλυει δε αυτου σωμα ο ανελεημων	17 Faithful love brings its own reward, the inflexible injure their own selves.
18 ασεβης ποιει εργα αδικα σπερμα δε δικαιων μισθος αληθειας	18 Disappointment crowns the labours of the wicked, whoever sows uprightness reaps a solid reward.
19 υιος δικαιος γενναται εις ζωην διωγμος δε ασεβους εις θανατον	19 Whoever establishes uprightness is on the way to life, whoever pursues evil, on the way to death.
20 βδελυγμα κυριω διεστραμμεναι οδοι προσδεκτοι δε αυτω παντες αμωμοι εν ταις οδοις αυτων	20 Tortuous hearts are abhorrent to Yahweh, dear to him, those whose ways are blameless.
21 χειρι χειρας εμβαλων αδικως ουκ ατιμωρητος εσται ο δε σπειρων δικαιοσυνην λημψεται μισθον πιστον	21 Be sure of it, the wicked wil not go unpunished, but the race of the upright wil come to no harm.
22 ωσπερ ενωτιον εν ρινι υος ουτως γυναικι κακοφρονι καλλος	22 A golden ring in the snout of a pig is a lovely woman who lacks discretion.
23 επιθυμια δικαιων πασα αγαθη ελπις δε ασεβων απολειται	23 The hope of the upright is nothing but good, the expectation of the wicked is retribution.
24 εισιν οι τα ιδια σπειροντες πλειονα ποιουσιν εισιν και οι συναγοντες ελαττονουνται	24 One scatters money around, yet only adds to his wealth, another is excessively mean, but only growsthe poorer.
25 ψυχη ευλογουμενη πασα απλη ανηρ δε θυμωδης ουκ ευσχημων	25 The soul who blesses wil prosper, whoever satisfies others wil also be satisfied.
26 ο συνεχων σιτον υπολιποιτο αυτον τοις εθνεσιν ευλογια δε εις κεφαλην του μεταδιδοντος	26 The people's curse is on those who hoard the wheat, their blessing on the head of those who sel it.
27 τεκταινομενος αγαθα ζητει χαριν αγαθην εκζητουντα δε κακα καταλημψεται αυτον	27 Whoever strives for good obtains favour, whoever looks for evil wil get an evil return.
28 ο πεποιθως επι πλουτω ουτος πεσειται ο δε αντιλαμβανομενος δικαιων ουτος ανατελει	28 Whoever trusts in riches wil have a fal , the upright wil flourish like the leaves.
29 ο μη συμπεριφερομενος τω εαυτου οικω κληρονομησει ανεμον δουλευσει δε αφρων φρονιμω	29 Whoever misgoverns a house inherits the wind, and the fool becomes slave to the wise.
30 εκ καρπου δικαιοσυνης φυεται δενδρον ζωης αφαιρουνται δε αωροι ψυχαι παρανομων	30 The fruit of the upright is a tree of life: the sage captivates souls.
31 ει ο μεν δικαιος μολις σωζεται ο ασεβης και αμαρτωλος που φανειται	31 If here on earth the upright gets due reward, how much more the wicked and the sinner!
