εις το τελος υπερ των αλλοιωθησομενων τω δαυιδ1 Unto the end. For those who will be changed: of David.
σωσον με ο θεος οτι εισηλθοσαν υδατα εως ψυχης μου2 Save me, O God, for the waters have entered, even to my soul.
ενεπαγην εις ιλυν βυθου και ουκ εστιν υποστασις ηλθον εις τα βαθη της θαλασσης και καταιγις κατεποντισεν με3 I have become stuck in a deep quagmire, and there is no firm footing. I have arrived at the height of the sea, and a tempest has overwhelmed me.
εκοπιασα κραζων εβραγχιασεν ο λαρυγξ μου εξελιπον οι οφθαλμοι μου απο του ελπιζειν επι τον θεον μου4 I have endured hardships, while crying out. My jaws have become hoarse; my eyes have failed. Meanwhile, I hope in my God.
επληθυνθησαν υπερ τας τριχας της κεφαλης μου οι μισουντες με δωρεαν εκραταιωθησαν οι εχθροι μου οι εκδιωκοντες με αδικως α ουχ ηρπασα τοτε απετιννυον5 Those who hate me without cause have been multiplied beyond the hairs of my head. My enemies, who persecuted me unjustly, have been strengthened. Then I was required to pay for what I did not take.
ο θεος συ εγνως την αφροσυνην μου και αι πλημμελειαι μου απο σου ουκ εκρυβησαν6 O God, you know my foolishness, and my offenses have not been hidden from you.
μη αισχυνθειησαν επ' εμοι οι υπομενοντες σε κυριε κυριε των δυναμεων μη εντραπειησαν επ' εμοι οι ζητουντες σε ο θεος του ισραηλ7 Let those who wait for you, O Lord, the Lord of hosts, not be shamed in me. Let those who seek you, O God of Israel, not be confounded over me.
οτι ενεκα σου υπηνεγκα ονειδισμον εκαλυψεν εντροπη το προσωπον μου8 For because of you, I have endured reproach; confusion has covered my face.
απηλλοτριωμενος εγενηθην τοις αδελφοις μου και ξενος τοις υιοις της μητρος μου9 I have become a stranger to my brothers and a sojourner to the sons of my mother.
οτι ο ζηλος του οικου σου κατεφαγεν με και οι ονειδισμοι των ονειδιζοντων σε επεπεσαν επ' εμε10 For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproached you have fallen upon me.
και συνεκαμψα εν νηστεια την ψυχην μου και εγενηθη εις ονειδισμον εμοι11 And I covered my soul with fasting, and it has become a reproach to me.
και εθεμην το ενδυμα μου σακκον και εγενομην αυτοις εις παραβολην12 And I put on a haircloth as my garment, and I became a parable to them.
κατ' εμου ηδολεσχουν οι καθημενοι εν πυλη και εις εμε εψαλλον οι πινοντες τον οινον13 Those who sat at the gate spoke against me, and those who drank wine made me their song.
εγω δε τη προσευχη μου προς σε κυριε καιρος ευδοκιας ο θεος εν τω πληθει του ελεους σου επακουσον μου εν αληθεια της σωτηριας σου14 But as for me, truly, my prayer is to you, O Lord. This time has pleased you well, O God. In the multitude of your mercy, in the truth of your salvation, hear me.
σωσον με απο πηλου ινα μη εμπαγω ρυσθειην εκ των μισουντων με και εκ του βαθους των υδατων15 Rescue me from the quagmire, so that I may not become trapped. Free me from those who hate me and from deep waters.
μη με καταποντισατω καταιγις υδατος μηδε καταπιετω με βυθος μηδε συσχετω επ' εμε φρεαρ το στομα αυτου16 Do not allow the tempest of water to submerge me, nor the deep to absorb me. And do not allow the well to close in on me.
εισακουσον μου κυριε οτι χρηστον το ελεος σου κατα το πληθος των οικτιρμων σου επιβλεψον επ' εμε17 Hear me, O Lord, for your mercy is kind. Look upon me, according to the fullness of your compassion.
μη αποστρεψης το προσωπον σου απο του παιδος σου οτι θλιβομαι ταχυ επακουσον μου18 And do not turn your face away from your servant, for I am in trouble: heed me quickly.
προσχες τη ψυχη μου και λυτρωσαι αυτην ενεκα των εχθρων μου ρυσαι με19 Attend to my soul, and free it. Rescue me, because of my enemies.
συ γαρ γινωσκεις τον ονειδισμον μου και την αισχυνην μου και την εντροπην μου εναντιον σου παντες οι θλιβοντες με20 You know my reproach, and my confusion, and my reverence.
ονειδισμον προσεδοκησεν η ψυχη μου και ταλαιπωριαν και υπεμεινα συλλυπουμενον και ουχ υπηρξεν και παρακαλουντας και ουχ ευρον21 All those who trouble me are in your sight; my heart has anticipated reproach and misery. And I sought for one who might grieve together with me, but there was no one, and for one who might console me, and I found no one.
και εδωκαν εις το βρωμα μου χολην και εις την διψαν μου εποτισαν με οξος22 And they gave me gall for my food. And in my thirst, they gave me vinegar to drink.
γενηθητω η τραπεζα αυτων ενωπιον αυτων εις παγιδα και εις ανταποδοσιν και εις σκανδαλον23 Let their table be a snare before them, and a retribution, and a scandal.
σκοτισθητωσαν οι οφθαλμοι αυτων του μη βλεπειν και τον νωτον αυτων δια παντος συγκαμψον24 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they may not see, and may their back always be crooked.
εκχεον επ' αυτους την οργην σου και ο θυμος της οργης σου καταλαβοι αυτους25 Pour out your indignation upon them, and may the fury of your anger take hold of them.
γενηθητω η επαυλις αυτων ηρημωμενη και εν τοις σκηνωμασιν αυτων μη εστω ο κατοικων26 May their dwelling place be deserted, and may there be no one who dwells in their tabernacles.
οτι ον συ επαταξας αυτοι κατεδιωξαν και επι το αλγος των τραυματιων σου προσεθηκαν27 For they persecuted whomever you struck. And they have added to the grief of my wounds.
προσθες ανομιαν επι την ανομιαν αυτων και μη εισελθετωσαν εν δικαιοσυνη σου28 Assign an iniquity upon their iniquity, and may they not enter into your justice.
εξαλειφθητωσαν εκ βιβλου ζωντων και μετα δικαιων μη γραφητωσαν29 Delete them from the Book of the Living, and let them not be written down with the just.
πτωχος και αλγων ειμι εγω και η σωτηρια του προσωπου σου ο θεος αντελαβετο μου30 I am poor and sorrowful, but your salvation, O God, has taken me up.
αινεσω το ονομα του θεου μετ' ωδης μεγαλυνω αυτον εν αινεσει31 I will praise the name of God with a canticle, and I will magnify him with praise.
και αρεσει τω θεω υπερ μοσχον νεον κερατα εκφεροντα και οπλας32 And it will please God more than a new calf producing horns and hoofs.
ιδετωσαν πτωχοι και ευφρανθητωσαν εκζητησατε τον θεον και ζησεται η ψυχη υμων33 Let the poor see and rejoice. Seek God, and your soul will live.
οτι εισηκουσεν των πενητων ο κυριος και τους πεπεδημενους αυτου ουκ εξουδενωσεν34 For the Lord has heard the poor, and he has not despised his prisoners.
αινεσατωσαν αυτον οι ουρανοι και η γη θαλασσα και παντα τα ερποντα εν αυτοις35 Let the heavens and the earth praise him: the sea, and everything that crawls in it.
οτι ο θεος σωσει την σιων και οικοδομηθησονται αι πολεις της ιουδαιας και κατοικησουσιν εκει και κληρονομησουσιν αυτην36 For God will save Zion, and the cities of Judah will be built up. And they will dwell there, and they will acquire it by inheritance.
και το σπερμα των δουλων αυτου καθεξουσιν αυτην και οι αγαπωντες το ονομα αυτου κατασκηνωσουσιν εν αυτη37 And the offspring of his servants will possess it; and those who love his name will dwell in it.
