Prima lettera di Pietro 5

BIBBIA CEI 2008	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Esorto gli anziani che sono tra voi, quale anziano come loro, testimone delle sofferenze di Cristo e partecipe della gloria che deve manifestarsi:	1 I urge the elders among you, as a fellow-elder myself and a witness to the sufferings of Christ, and asone who is to have a share in the glory that is to be revealed:
2 pascete il gregge di Dio che vi è affidato, sorvegliandolo non perché costretti ma volentieri, come piace a Dio, non per vergognoso interesse, ma con animo generoso,	2 give a shepherd's care to the flock of God that is entrusted to you: watch over it, not simply as a dutybut gladly, as God wants; not for sordid money, but because you are eager to do it.
3 non come padroni delle persone a voi affidate, ma facendovi modelli del gregge.	3 Do not lord it over the group which is in your charge, but be an example for the flock.
4 E quando apparirà il Pastore supremo, riceverete la corona della gloria che non appassisce.	4 When the chief shepherd appears, you wil be given the unfading crown of glory.
5 Anche voi, giovani, siate sottomessi agli anziani. Rivestitevi tutti di umiltà gli uni verso gli altri, perché Dio resiste ai superbi, ma dà grazia agli umili.	5 In the same way, younger people, be subject to the elders. Humility towards one another must be thegarment you all wear constantly, because God opposes the proud but accords his favour to the humble.
6 Umiliatevi dunque sotto la potente mano di Dio, affinché vi esalti al tempo opportuno,	6 Bow down, then, before the power of God now, so that he may raise you up in due time;
7 riversando su di lui ogni vostra preoccupazione, perché egli ha cura di voi.	7 unload al your burden on to him, since he is concerned about you.
8 Siate sobri, vegliate. Il vostro nemico, il diavolo, come leone ruggente va in giro cercando chi divorare.	8 Keep sober and alert, because your enemy the devil is on the prowl like a roaring lion, looking forsomeone to devour.
9 Resistetegli saldi nella fede, sapendo che le medesime sofferenze sono imposte ai vostri fratelli sparsi per il mondo.	9 Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that it is the same kind of suffering that thecommunity of your brothers throughout the world is undergoing.
10 E il Dio di ogni grazia, il quale vi ha chiamati alla sua gloria eterna in Cristo Gesù, egli stesso, dopo che avrete un poco sofferto, vi ristabilirà, vi confermerà, vi rafforzerà, vi darà solide fondamenta.	10 You wil have to suffer only for a little while: the God of all grace who called you to eternal glory inChrist wil restore you, he wil confirm, strengthen and support you.
11 A lui la potenza nei secoli. Amen!	11 His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Vi ho scritto brevemente per mezzo di Silvano, che io ritengo fratello fedele, per esortarvi e attestarvi che questa è la vera grazia di Dio. In essa state saldi!	12 I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a trustworthy brother, to encourage you andattest that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it!
13 Vi saluta la comunità che vive in Babilonia e anche Marco, figlio mio.	13 Your sister in Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings; so does my son,Mark.
14 Salutatevi l’un l’altro con un bacio d’amore fraterno. Pace a voi tutti che siete in Cristo!	14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you al who are in Christ.
